This adds an eagle which the player can choose to include with their character when they are in the lobby or during the gameplay. The eagle sits on the character’s shoulder and comes with some emotes of its own. The companion can earn XP for you. While not all the ways for this are known, one way to buy more XP is in the shape of food. One piece of food will give 100 XP. Your companion will only be visible to your teammates.

New grenade added

The update PUBG Mobile game comes with a new grenade called Liquid Nitrogen mine. By using this, you will be able to slow everybody down as far as they are in the range of the mine. We think it can prove to be a very useful weapon during the gameplay.

Facebook and Google may have to face a new regulator in the UK

The United Kingdom has laid out a plan for regulating the technology industry more closely in a detailed proposal that it has released today. This is the latest crackdown on Big Tech in Europe.

According to the proposal that has been shared, a more decisive action is required considering that there are a number of growing problems online including the spread of terrorist content on various popular platforms. We should mention that the white paper has been produced by the UK’s secretary of state for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and the secretary of state for the Home Department.

The authors have written in the proposal, “There is currently a range of regulatory and voluntary initiatives aimed at addressing these problems, but these have not gone far or fast enough, or been consistent enough between different companies, to keep UK users safe online.”

To fight the problems that have been mentioned earlier, the UK government has been suggested to impose new rules on companies like Facebook and Google by the proposal. The rules should be made in a way that they make these companies monitor the content on their platforms more closely and give regulators more information. The new rules will also require technology giants to take reasonable action on user complaints immediately.

If they fail to take timely action, fines would be imposed on them by a new regulator. However, as of now the scope of the rules still has to be decided by officials in the UK.

As we mentioned earlier, this move by the United Kingdom is the latest one in Europe’s plan to regulate technology giants more closely. Europe has also passed a regulation called GDPR, which is considered to be one among the strictest moves to regulate personal data on the internet.

Post the Cambridge Analytica scandal, the United Kingdom has been scrutinizing a number of technology giants including Facebook. Furthermore, after the video of a mass shooting at two mosques in New Zealand went viral on Facebook and other social media platforms, a renewed urgency has been imposed on the issue of moderating content on the internet.

The proposal that has been shared will soon be debated upon by the Parliament in the United Kingdom. Member of Parliament Damian Collins, who is also the chair of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee has appreciated the white paper saying, “Member of Parliament Damian Collins, chair of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee.”

Apple’s ‘2019 16-inch MacBook Pro’ may get a successor in 2021

Cupertino-based technology giant Apple’s much-talked-about ‘all-new’ 16-inch MacBook Pro is rumoured to launch this year. And now, a report has surfaced online that claims that the laptop will be followed by another one by Apple in 2021.

Earlier, a news report about the delay in the launch of the 16-inch MacBook Pro appeared as a research note from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo on MacRumours. However, it was later reported that this model will be launched in addition to the one that will be unveiled in 2019.

We should mention that it was Kuo who earlier predicted the rumour that Apple was working on a refreshed MacBook Pro lineup that consists of a larger model with a display size between 16 and 16.5 inches. In addition to this, it will also be available in a 13-inch model that would have higher-end specifications than Apple’s current variant that comes with up to 32GB of RAM.

According to Kuo’s original note, the laptops were supposed to release in the second half of 2019, however, a recent report claimed otherwise. However, now it has been clarified that both speak about two different models of MacBook Pro.

Apple was expected to launch a new MacBook Pro model this year. Although Apple’s current MacBook Pro design is just three-years-old, it has not been received well by a lot of fans and has been subjected to its fair share of criticism. This is particularly true if you consider the design flaws in the keyboard as well as the problems that the users are encountering with cables of the MacBook dying, that is also known as Flexgate.

It is worth adding that Apple is struggling with the keyboard flaws and has even tried to fix them last year. A big possibility is that Apple may have fast-tracked a new MacBook Pro hardware ahead of its normal cycle just to put an end to these issues.

If you are an Apple fan, this must be a piece of good news for you as you know that you will be getting a refreshed MacBook Pro soon. Besides this, Kuo has also predicted that a 31.6-inch 6K display with a ‘Mini LED-like backlight design’ will still be launched in 2019. So at least there’s something to look forward to.

Update: The story has been corrected. Previously, the report said that Apple’s rumoured 2019 MacBook Pro was delayed until 2021. The variant that will be launched in 2021 will be in addition to the one launched in 2019 and it will be a Mini-LED model.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey was paid $1.40 as salary in 2018

0

Microblogging website Twitter has announced that it paid its Chief Executive Office Jack Dorsey $1.40 (approximately Rs 100) in 2018. Twitter CEO is known for declining all the direct compensation and benefits from the company for 2015, 2016 and 2017. Last year, he declined the compensation and benefits and only accepted a salary of Rs $1.40, according to an SEC that has been filed by the social media company.

We should mention that there are other CEOs and top-level executives in Silicon Valley who are also known to be doing the same. The best-known example of this is Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who only took $1 from the Cupertino-based technology giant for fifteen years. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has also revealed that his salary is $1 per annum, however, he gets a number of other compensations from the social media giant.

Snap CEO Evan Spiegel also takes $1 as his salary every year. Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin are also among the notable personalities who have been taking $1 as their salary from the search giant. In India, Infosys’ NR Narayana Murthy also draws $1 as salary. Two more prominent CEOs from the technology industry who earn a salary of $1 are Tesla‘s Elon Musk and HP’s Meg Whitman.

In addition to this, the microblogging website said that it has reduced the number of accounts that a user can follow in a single day to cut down on spam on its platform. As a part of the latest move, the total number of people that a user can follow on a given day has come down to 400 from 1,000.

Twitter said in a tweet, “Follow, unfollow, follow, unfollow. Who does that? Spammers. So we’re changing the number of accounts you can follow each day from 1,000 to 400. Don’t worry, you’ll be just fine.”

This has been done because there are a number of bots on the platform that follow a massive number of real people and a few of them tend to follow them back. With a high follower count, the status of these bot accounts escalates on the platform, and then they misuse it to promote website links on Twitter.

Twitter has regulations that bar people from spreading spam which, the microblogging website defines as, “bulk or aggressive activity that attempts to manipulate or disrupt Twitter or the experience of users on Twitter to drive traffic or attention to unrelated accounts, products, services, or initiatives.”

Twitter reduces the number of accounts one can follow a day to 400: Here’s why

Microblogging website Twitter has made a big change in its platform to put an end to spam. For this, Twitter has announced that it is limiting the number of profiles/users one user can follow in a day. Earlier, the number of accounts one could follow was 1,000 but now Twitter has reduced the number to just 400. Twitter announced the decision about the reduced follow limit through its Safety account. And according to Twitter, it has taken this decision to stop the spammers from adding a large number of followers to their own account and then deleting them in a “bulk, aggressive or indiscriminate manner”. This action violates the rules and regulations set by Twitter.

It is a known fact that to add more followers to their own accounts, the spammers follow a lot of accounts out of which a majority of them will follow back. Once the spammer gets the follow back, they then remove themselves/ unfollows the user they had followed earlier. The person who follows such spam accounts gets a lot of spam posts on their own feed. But those users who don’t follow the spammer back would be unfollowed. And to get more followers, the spammers do this over a large number of times continuously. And since Twitter has very little control over this action of the spammers, it is changing the follow limit one can follow in a day to 400.

Yoel Roth, the Head of Site Integrity at Twitter in a series of tweets explained that by lowering the number of followers one user can follow in a day won’t stop them but it will definitely slow them down. He also noted that, the reduced number will make the spam accounts ‘less effective, slower and expensive to operate’. According to him, the 400-limit mark is a reasonable limit for the people to follow the users of their choice but it would also reduce the number of spammers on the platform.

Although, reducing the number of accounts one can follow in a day might seem like a huge change but according to Roth, 99.87% of the users will be unaffected by this. His tweet read, “Most people don’t need or want to follow that many accounts. But some legitimate accounts, like businesses providing customer service by DM, actually do need it, and we want to avoid burdening them.” Now with the follow limit reduced, the spammers and the spam accounts will take a heavy toll and are expected to slow their operations down.

The highest variant of the OnePlus 6T with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is now selling for RMB 3,599 (approximately Rs 37,000). The news about the price cut was posted by OnePlus itself on Chinese networking platform, Weibo.

About the price cuts, some reports claim that the company is trying to clear the stocks of its earlier smartphones to make way for the OnePlus 7, which could be launched around May 2019. But according to GSMArena, the price cut could also be because of China’s new tax law.

Speaking about the OnePlus 6T, which was launched back in 2018 and was the successor of the OnePlus 6. OnePlus 6T smartphone sports a 6.41-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display and it runs Android 9.0 Pie skinned with the OxygenOS. The device has a dual rear camera setup which comprises of a 16MP main sensor paired with a 20MP secondary sensor. On the front of the handset has a 16MP selfie camera. The OnePlus 6T also features an in-display fingerprint scanner and it is powered by the Snapdragon 845 SoC. The OnePlus 6T packs a 3,700mAh battery and it also comes with USB Type-C fast charging support. However, it does not come with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

So, the upcoming successor of the OnePlus 6T – OnePlus 7 – will reportedly feature a 6.5-inch Full HD+ display with 95% screen-to-body ratio. There will be notch as the device will most likely pack a 16MP pop-up selfie camera. The OnePlus 7 will be powered by the Snapdragon 855 SoC and is expected to pack a 4,150mAh battery with fast charging support. Similar to the OnePlus 6T, it too might hold an in-display fingerprint scanner. And according to some leaks, the OnePlus 7 may come with a triple-rear camera setup with 12MP sensor paired with a 20MP sensor along with a 3D Time of Flight (ToF) sensor.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 to launch in two different screen sizes: Report

South Korean technology giant left no stone unturned this year to make sure that its tenth-anniversary edition flagship smartphones left its fans impressed. It went as far as launching four smartphones in its flagship range including Samsung Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, Galaxy S10e and Galaxy S10 5G. So it comes as no surprise that the company is working to launch two variants of Samsung Galaxy Note 10. At least that is what the latest report says.

According to a report in ETNews, Samsung Galaxy Note 10, will be available in two different screen sizes, and both will come with LTE. There will also be a 5G version of the flagship tablet. The report says that Galaxy Note 8 will be available in 6.28-inch and 6.75-inch display sizes. With this, we can say that the South Korean technology giant is trying to make as big a phablet as it possibly can.

The smaller of the two devices will come with a 6.28-inch display and would be between 6.1-inch Galaxy S10 and 6.4-inch Galaxy S10 Plus. The larger among the two will sport a 6.75-inch screen and would be somewhere close to the Galaxy S10 5G smartphone, which is set to go on pre-orders soon.

According to ETNews, Samsung is planning to launch the smartphones of both the sizes with standard LTE and 5G, which basically means that there could be four total versions of Samsung Galaxy Note 10. However, we must add that four is the count that we have reached before counting the storage options of the upcoming device.

Furthermore, the report also claims that the Samsung Galaxy Note 10’s 5G model will come with four rear cameras. It is being speculated that the fourth one among these will be a time-of-flight sensor that is also present on Samsung Galaxy S10’s 5G variant.

It is a deviation from Samsung’s usual strategy to launch two display variants of its Note phablet. But since it is the tenth-anniversary edition of the Note series, we can fully expect Samsung to take a different route. Going by its history, Samsung will most likely launch its Galaxy Note 10 phablet in August this year.

Even with the Galaxy S10’s launch, the South Korean technology giant did change its strategy and launched four instead of two smartphones. In fact, the company this year went a step ahead and even launched its foldable handset – Samsung Galaxy Fold.

Snapchat rolls out its revamped app for Android users

Snap has finally rolled out its new and revamped Snapchat app for Android, which the company has been working on from the scratch since the beginning of 2018. The revamped Snapchat app is supposed to get the platform’s performance on Android at par with what it is on iOS.

Although no visible changes have been made to the actual UI or navigation for Snapchat, the new app is claimed to be faster, less laggy, and less buggy than the version which was available till now.

According to Android Authority’s interview with members of Snapchat’s development team, the rewriting of the app was under progress for a long time. At first, Snap just tried to release patches for the issues the old app had, but then it realized that it was required to rewrite the Android version of Snapchat from the scratch in order to achieve the desired results.

The revamped Android app is designed keeping in mind the huge Android ecosystem and its wide breadth of hardware. This is particularly true for cameras and processors, whose capabilities differ in different smartphones, as far as Android is considered.

However, the upside to this is that now that the major rewrite is done, future updates for the Snapchat app on Android should be easier and faster. Furthermore, the app will get new features at the same pace as Snapchat for iOS.

Speaking about the new development, Snap’s VP of product Jacob Andreou said, “With this new foundation I wouldn’t be surprised if you actually see things starting to come to Android even before iOS sometimes.”

In an unrelated piece of news, Snapchat has also been taking steps to woo its audience in India. The app is now available in regional languages including Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati and Marathi. The company is not only doing this in India, as it has also added support for some other languages including Filipino, Malay, Vietnamese, and Urdu.

While the launch of the app in local Indian languages is one of the steps that have been taken by Snap to expand in the country, we should point out this comes four years after CEO Evan Spiegal called India poor and said that Snapchat is “only for rich people.”

After this comment, a major chunk of Indian population uninstalled the app and started using Instagram instead. While Snapchat completely denied that the statement was ever made, it did end up losing a considerable number of users. And Snapchat lost became Instagram’s gain.

Lenovo Z6 Pro to be launched later this month, company confirms

0

Lenovo’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the Z6 Pro, has been in news since the time it was announced by the company. Earlier it was expected that the Chinese electronics maker would launch the much-awaited Lenovo Z6 Pro smartphone at the MWC 2019, however,  that didn’t happen. At the MWC 2019, the device was just teased by Lenovo. But now, the company has confirmed that the Lenovo Z6 Pro will be unveiled this month itself.

Lenovo had published a new teaser on the Chinese social media platform, Weibo where it confirmed that it will be unveiling the device this month. It also confirmed the fact that the Lenovo Z6 Pro will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. Earlier in March, Lenovo’s VP Chang Cheng teased that the device will be able to produce 100MP images. The upcoming Lenovo Z6 Pro will be the successor of the Lenovo Z5 Pro which the company had launched last year in November.

Although the company has confirmed the launch of Lenovo Z6 Pro, it has maintained silence on the exact date of the launch date of the device. However, Lenovo has confirmed that the smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm’s flagship CPU for 2019. Lenovo Z6 Pro is touted to be able to produce the 100MP images and will come with 5G connectivity. But the company will also bring out a non-5G variant of the Lenovo Z6 Pro.

Earlier at the MWC 2019 which took place in February, the company confirmed that the upcoming Lenovo Z6 Pro will have a ‘HyperVision’ camera. The said camera will be able to produce ‘Hyper Videos’. However, the company didn’t reveal what it is and how will it work. But Lenovo also said that the device will have 5G connectivity as well.

Lenovo was expected to make an announcement about the Lenovo Z6 Pro last month where it was supposed to unveil the device. But instead, the company released a teaser about the phone that it will be able to produce 100MP images. The company had also said that the Lenovo Z6 Pro will go on sale from June 2019 but currently, we will have to wait to know about the launch date of the device.

Vivo V15 review: A stunner that can click great selfies

A few weeks ago, Vivo launched its V15 Pro smartphone in India, which we thought was quite a performer. Now, the Chinese smartphone brand has launched Vivo V15 handset in the country that comes with a pop-up selfie camera, a triple rear camera setup and a 4,000mAh battery. We tried the device for a few days and here’s what we think of it:

Design and Display

When we first saw at the Vivo V15 smartphone, it looked completely identical to the Vivo V15 Pro (review). However, its dimensions are slightly bigger than that of its elder sibling. So much so, that you may feel a slight stretch while reaching out to the controls that are on top of the screen. But the curved edges and back panel help one-handed usage of the device.

Vivo V15 can be bought in colour options — Royal Blue, Frozen Black, and Glamour Red. The one that we got for review was dressed in Black and Red, and we have to say that it looked really unconventional. Most smartphones with gradient back panels come with colours that are similar to each other when it comes to its shade.

However, Vivo did something completely different by choosing Black and Red, and we thought it looked very beautiful. The company says that the rear panel of the Vivo V15 comes with a Spectrum Ripple Design, which is basically a name that the Chinese smartphone brand uses for the gradient finish. The back panel of Vivo V15 also houses the fingerprint scanner and the camera bump. Vivo branding can also be found here.

Vivo v15 2

The smartphone is made of polycarbonate and it has a very sturdy built quality and feels solid to hold. The right side of the smartphone has the power and the volume rocker keys and the left one has a Smart Button that can be used to access Google Assistant or Google Search. Other shortcuts can also be added according to user preference.  The right edge of the device houses the tray for two Nano-SIM cards and a microSD card. The microUSB port, a 3.5mm headphone jack and the loudspeaker are placed at the bottom, while the top has another microphone with a pop-up selfie camera.

Vivo v15

The front panel of the Vivo V15 smartphone has a 6.53-inch Ultra FullView In-cell full-HD+ display that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and has a screen to body ratio of 90.95%. Playing games and watching videos on the smartphone’s display was a very good experience. The colour tone of the mobile can be adjusted so that it puts less strain on your eyes. While there were no issues in using the smartphone indoors, its sunlight readability could have been better. The device’s display comes without Widevine L1 certification, which basically means that you cannot stream HD videos from the likes of Amazon Prime, Netflix and Hotstar on it. This was definitely a disappointment.

To sum it up, we would say that we simply loved the design and aesthetics of the Vivo V15 smartphone. However, when we speak about the display, some aspects of the experience could definitely be better.

Performance and Cameras

Before we get started with Vivo V15’s performance, let’s talk about the specifications of the handset. The device runs Android 9.0 Pie skinned with Funtouch OS 9 and is powered by MediaTek Helio P70 processor. The smartphone comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. On the camera front, Vivo V15 has a pop-up selfie camera with a 32MP sensor that has an f/2.0 aperture. On the main cameras front, there is a triple rear camera setup with a 12MP sensor that has an f/1.78 aperture, an 8MP secondary sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP sensor with an f/2.4 lens. The device houses a 4,000mAh battery and it has a microSD card of up to 256GB.

Vivo v15 3

As we mentioned earlier, Vivo V15 runs Android 9.0 Pie skinned with FunTouch OS 9. If you are used to stock Android experience, you may find the software to be heavily customised. For starters, there is no app drawer on the device and all the apps are placed on the home screen itself. Speaking of apps, we should mention that the device has plenty of them preinstalled. This includes the likes of Gaana, Facebook, Paytm, UC Browser, PhonePe, and Newspoint. Vivo V15 has a number of other features like Smart Mirroring, Smart Motion and Smart Lock. The device also comes with two power saving modes including the ‘Low Power Saving Mode’ and ‘Extreme Power Saving Mode’.

As said before, Vivo V15 smartphone is powered by MediaTek Helio P70 processor that easily handled day-to-day tasks without any hiccups. The apps launched quickly and there was no trouble switching between them. We used the smartphone for multi-tasking often, and it did a good job with it. For instance, we watched videos on YouTube while using navigation on Google Maps on our smartphone, and Vivo V15 did not show any lag while we did this. The device did not heat up during our time with it even once, which is always a plus.

Vivo v15 4

Gaming experience on the Vivo V15 was decent. If you like to play graphic-hungry games like Asphalt 9: Legends and PUBG Mobile, you may not be too happy with it. However, if you like to play games like Temple Run 2 and Alto’s Odessey, the handset would be able to handle them well. The smartphone has a feature called Game Cube that is supposed to enhance the gaming experience on it, however, we didn’t observe any noticeable difference. If you don’t like to interrupted while gaming, you can enable the Esports Mode that closes background apps and blocks notifications when the user is playing games.

The fingerprint scanner of the handset worked well at all times, including when our fingers were moist. We did miss the face-unlock on the smartphone though, and would have liked it much better had Vivo V15, like its elder sibling, had the feature too.

vivo v15 image

Coming to the cameras of the smartphone, Vivo V15 did a very good job during our time with the handset. The camera app of the device comes with Pro mode, AI beauty, AR stickers, portrait mode, wide-angle mode, scene selection and a mode that can scan documents. The primary camera of the smartphone has a 12MP sensor and it comes with Dual Pixel Focusing technology that is supposed to enhance the clarity and brightness of photos.

vivo v15 image 2

Personally, we really liked the images taken with the camera. They had rich colours, were sharp and had good details. While the camera managed to click respectable quality images in well-lit areas, the same cannot be said about dimly-lit conditions. The shots taken at night were slightly grainy and some images had noise. The images taken in the portrait mode turned out to be really good and we should mention that the smartphone has a feature that lets users adjust the blur effect even after the photo is clicked.

While the wide-angle camera manages to include a lot more area as compared to the other sensors, the quality of the images does go down a little. The pictures taken by the wide-angle sensor are not bad at all. They are good, in fact. However, they are just not as good as the ones taken from the primary camera sensor.

vivo v15 image 3

The 32MP selfie camera of the smartphone is simply brilliant. Regardless of the lighting conditions, Vivo V15’s selfie camera did a great job. The images taken had details, accurate colours and were sharp and clear. The device has an AI Beauty mode and users will get a number of options with it like skin lightening and jawline slimming.

vivo v15 benchmarks

Coming to the battery of the device, it left us very impressed. Even with very heavy usage that involved watching YouTube videos, playing games like Asphalt 9: Legends, listening to music, using social media apps and using the handset for navigation, the 4,000mAh battery of Vivo V15 lasted an entire day. If your usage is moderate, it will last more than a day. Vivo V15 comes with an 18W charger that was able to charge the device up to 40% in around half an hour.

When we ran some benchmark tests on the device, it scored 1,517 and 5,637 in single and multi-core scores of Geekbench, and 1,43,906 in Antutu.

Verdict

The pros of Vivo V15 overshadow its cons. The design is stunning to look at, the battery is very long lasting and the selfie camera manages to take some very good images. The device is also a multi-tasker. However, it cannot stream content from the likes of Amazon Prime, comes without face-unlock and gaming could definitely be better. Although the handset is a good one, if you want to spend lesser than Rs 23,990, you can go for Samsung Galaxy A50 (review) which cost Rs 19,990 and is a worthy competitor of Vivo V15.

Pros

  • Beautiful design
  • Lasting battery
  • Great selfie camera

Cons

  • Gaming could be better
  • No streaming available
  • No face unlock

2019 iPhone models to come with triple camera setups and OLED panels: Report

The rumour mill about the upcoming 2019 iPhones has become quite active of late. And now, a report has surfaced online that talks about the display sizes of the next-generation Apple iPhones. However, it sheds light only on the screen sizes of two iPhone models and not all three of them.

According to the report, the two 2019 iPhones models will sport triple rear camera setups and come in 6.1-inch and 6.5-inch display sizes. Both the iPhones will reportedly sport OLED displays, much like iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max that were launched in 2018. The two smartphones will be powered by an ‘A-series’ chipset and will house bigger batteries than their predecessors.

The report, which first published in Japanese blog Macotakara, cites sources from supply chain based in China and says that the 2019 iPhones will come with triple camera setups on their back panels and their displays will be 6.1-inch and 6.5-inch in size. The same report has said that the two smartphones will come with OLED panels.

While the 6.1-inch iPhone will reportedly sit between iPhone XS and iPhone XR in size and will be somewhere close to Samsung Galaxy S10. The report also said that the device will approximately be 1.5mm thinner than the iPhone XS. Coming to the 6.5-inch model, it will reportedly be roughly 0.4mm thinner than iPhone XS Max.

In addition to this, the report also said that the triple lenses that will be placed on the back panel of the iPhones will be bigger than the one seen on the iPhone XR. The sensor size on the device will also be bigger. The two models of the iPhones that the report talks about are reported to come with a USB-C to Lightning cable and an 18W USB-C power adapter in its box. Besides this, the iPhones are also expected to come with support for reverse wireless charging. This basically means that the iPhones will be able to charge other devices that have support for Qi wireless charging.

We should also add that while this report claims two of the three iPhone models will come with a triple rear camera setup, Onleaks has suggested that all three devices, reportedly known as iPhone XIR, iPhone XIS, and iPhone XIS Max, will come with three cameras on the back. However, he also said that features like frosted back panel will be available the iPhone XIS and iPhone XIS Max.

Asus is teaming up with Tencent for its next ROG Phone: Report

0

Last year, the gaming smartphone from Asus, the ROG Phone, was one of the most-talked about devices last year. And now, according to a report, Asus is planning to launch a successor of its ROG gaming smartphone.

According to reports, Asus is planning to partner with Tencent Games, the makers of PUBG in China, to promote the upcoming Asus ROG Phone. It should be noted that Asus ROG gaming smartphone was among the first handsets to be launched in India dedicated solely for gaming. There were other gaming smartphones as well such as Xiaomi’s Black Shark and the Razer Phone 2, however these devices never made it to India. The first ROG gaming phone was powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC along with Liquid Cooling to make sure that the handset remained cool even when used for playing extensive games. According to Asus, the ROG Phone could play any mobile game without any lags or any performance issues. And we expect something even better in the next iteration of the ROG Phone.

According to a report by Digitimes, the Taiwanese electronic maker will most likely be teaming up with Tencent to promote the device in China. If the said partnership happens between the two companies, then we will get to see a renewed ROG Phone. Moreover, Asus has also started focusing more on the premium and gaming category of smartphones instead of the of mid-range and entry-level devices to cover its losses.

In the next iteration of ROG gaming phone from Asus, we can see a new and top-end line of gaming hardware and software for the device. And teaming up with the Chinese game maker, we can expect that the smartphone will most probably launch first in the Chinese market and then make its way towards the other markets of the world. Other details about the next ROG Phone will be revealed by the company at the Q3 2019.

Furthermore, the first ROG Phone which is priced at Rs 69,999 was launched in India last year and it was solely made for gaming. Its hardware and software were tuned for gaming as well. The ROG Phone received good reviews from the fans and critics alike. The ROG Phone came with 90Hz display which was faster than other smartphones in the Indian market, it also came with air triggers which could be used for gaming. The next ROG Phone could be launched by Asus in the third-half of the year.
