Recently Tencent Games the developers of PUBG Mobile game introduced a new mode called ‘Ancient Secret Mode’. The theme of the recent mode is based on a  mysterious ancient civilization. The company also introduced a new outfit and the new Golden Pharoah X-Suit is the one which is the first upgradable outfit introduced to the game. In addition to this, the company has also brought the Pharaoh Rises event slated to run from August 4 to September 11.

With the introduction of the new event Pharaoh Rises event to the PUBG Mobile game it brings an opportunity to win cool outfits like the Golden Pharaoh X-Suit, Warrior of Ra set, Warrior of Nut set, Underworld Guide set, and the Mummy set. All these costumes have been added with the latest update that brings the Ancient Secret game mode. Also, the new Golden Pharoah X-Suit is the first upgradable outfit that is one of the exciting things that have been added to the game. 

Golden Pharaoh X-Suit

According to the company, the Pharaoh Rises event will run from August 4 to September 11. In the event, the players are allowed to make lucky draws using UC or Silver coins to get access to the new outfits introduced to the Ancient Secret Mode. Each set is said to come with its own exclusive Treasure crate. These treasures allow the players to get their hands on these outfits, Starforge Stones, Star fragments and Pharaoh coins. The luck draws will also grant Treasure crates at random, however, after 5 lucky draws players can go ahead and select a Treasure crate of their choice. 

In the game the redeeming 1,000 Pharaoh coins for a level 1 Golden Pharaoh X-Suit or exchange the Pharaoh’s memory to obtain the outfit. Also, the Pharaoh’s memory can be gifted to friends. Besides, the Golden Pharaoh X-Suit and the Mummy set the players can also win duplicate items that can be converted into Pharaoh coins. The set can be upgraded with Starforge stones and Star fragments. 

In addition to this, the Golden Pharaoh X-Suit can be upgraded and comes with six levels, each of which unlocks additional benefits. Each level consists of a total of three sets that include exclusive lobby emotes, entry emotes and spawn island and Kill Announcements special effects. The Golden Pharaoh X-element can also be shared with teammates.

The Golden Pharaoh X-Suit will have the following 6 levels and rewards: 

  1. Basic Appearance: This is the first and foundational level of the outfit.
  2. Teammate Interaction: This X-element is exclusive to the lobby and can be temporarily shared with teammates. This requires 3 Starforge Stones or 100 Star Fragments to unlock.
  3. Advanced Form: This is the second outfit upgrade. This requires 5 Starforge Stones or 160 Star Fragments to unlock.
  4. Victory Broadcast: The various kill broadcasts will be detailed with the mark of the Pharaoh. This requires 7 Starforge Stones or 230 Star Fragments to unlock.
  5. Shock and Awe: This spawn island exclusive Entry Emote requires 9 Starforge Stones or 310 Star Fragments to unlock.
  6. Final Form: The 6th level and final outfit upgrade require 15 Starforge Stones or 500 Star Fragments to unlock.
  7. In addition to the outfit, this crate includes the following rewards:

The Chinese electronics brand Xiaomi today announced the launch of its Mi TV Stick in India The Mi TV Stick is powered by Android TV 9.0. Xiaomi Mi TV Stick offers access to 5000+ apps and games and OTT content via Google Play. The company aims to take on Amazon Fire TV Stick. This device can turn your non-smart TV into a smart TV without burning a hole into your pocket. One can easily connect it to their TV to stream Full HD resolution content.

The Cupertino, California based company Apple has upgraded its 27-inch iMac. It now comes with faster Intel processors, AMD graphics, superfast SSDs across the line. In addition to this, the latest iMac has also been redesigned with a nano-texture glass option for  Retina 5K display. It now comes with a 1080p FaceTime HD camera and better audio quality.

Tom Boger, Apple’s senior director of Mac and iPad Product Marketing said, “Now more than ever, our customers are relying on the Mac. And many of them need the most powerful and capable iMac we’ve ever made. With blazing performance, double the memory, SSDs across the line with quadruple the storage, an even more stunning Retina 5K display, a better camera, higher fidelity speakers, and studio-quality mics, the 27-inch iMac is loaded with new features at the same price. It’s the ultimate desktop, to work, create, and communicate.”

The 2020 model of 27-inch iMac price has been set at Rs 1,69,990 in India. Whereas the 21.5-inch iMac now comes at Rs 99,900. While on the other hand, the iMac Pro will be available with a starting price of Rs 4,64,900 in the country. In the country, all the models will be available for purchase via Apple Authorised Resellers later this month. 27-inch iMac technical specifications

The Apple iMac 27 inch model 10-core processor option with Turbo Boost speeds reaching 5.0GHz for up to 65 percent faster CPU performance. It comes with double the memory capacity for up to 128GB. graphics have been taken care of by AMD Radeon Pro 5000 series graphics with up to 16GB of GDDR6 memory tat makes editing multiple streams of 4K video, or playing a graphics-intensive game more smooth. According to the company, it can now deliver up to 55 percent faster graphics performance from its Radeon Pro 5000 series graphics. 

For faster performance the 27-inch iMac now comes standard with SSDs across the line, delivering blazing-fast performance up to 3.4GB/s for launching applications and opening large files. According to the company it now also features an 8TB SSD option which is four times the SSD capacity than the previous model. In addition to this, it includes the Apple T2 Security Chip, Apple’s own custom-designed, second-generation silicon.

According to the company, “The storage controller in the T2 Security Chip provides on-the-fly data encryption for everything stored on the SSD, so files and data are safe and secure. And the T2 chip also checks that software loaded during the boot process has not been tampered with, giving the 27-inch iMac, and any Mac with the T2 chip, the most secure storage and boot process of any computer.”

The iMac now features a Retina display with 14.7 million pixels of resolution 1 billion colours, 500 nits of brightness, and support for P3 wide colour for better front-of-screen viewing experience. Therefore you can easily edit 4K video at full resolution. The Retina 5K display on the 27-inch iMac features True Tone technology, which automatically adjusts the colour temperature of the display to match a user’s ambient lighting. In addition to this it now gets a nano-texture glass option for immersive viewing under various lighting conditions. The FaceTime HD camera now features 1080p resolution, while the Image Signal Processor in the T2 Security Chip brings tone mapping, exposure control, and face detection for a much higher quality camera experience. 

21.5-Inch iMac and iMac Pro

The company has also updated its 21.5-inch iMac that now features SSDs across the line for the first time. Customers can also choose to configure their 21.5-inch iMac with a Fusion Drive. The iMac Pro also has a 10-core Intel Xeon processor with up to 18 cores, graphics performance up to 22 teraflops, up to 256GB quad-channel ECC memory, and a 27-inch Retina 5K display.

In addition to this, the company has also revealed that this fall your iMacs can be with macOS Big Sur the company’s latest desktop operating system without having to pay any cost.

With the renders of Huawei’s new flagship have allegedly surfaced online, the news is now rife that the upcoming Mate 40 and Mate 40 Pro would boast an even larger rear camera array than as compared to its predecessor Mate 30.

According to the leaks appeared on HandsetExpert that collaborated with tipster @OnLeaks to showcase you exclusive renders of Huawei’s Mate 40 upcoming flagship phone that will likely see the light of the day during this autumn.

These renders by HandsetExpert in partnership with @OnLeaks hints that the design of Huawei’s Mate 40 series is in line with the Mate 30 device that was launched last year. However, the major difference that caught the attention is a camera bump that has been placed on rear end and is large in size as against the Mate 30. The camera module comprises of triple camera system along with a sensor. Mind you! We are yet to find details of this triple camera system.

Furthermore, rumour mills have stated that Huawei Mate 40 series of smartphones could likely run on Android 10 along the company’s EMUI skin. However, not much details have been revealed at this time.

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2020 is going to take place today. The South Korean electronics brand is going to take the wraps off its most anticipated smartphone series Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Series. Alongside, the company is most likely to introduce a couple of new devices such as Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Buds Live, Galaxy Watch Active 3 and Galaxy Tab S7. 

Before the company’s official announcement, many things about the devices had been doing rounds on the internet. Let’s give you a quick recap of what has been leaked and rumoured about the new Galaxy device before the tech event that is going to be held in the evening today. But before that let’s know how you can catch the event live tonight.

Tonight Samsung is going to host a Galaxy Unpacked 2020 event that will be live-streamed via the company’s official social media channels that is Samsung Global Newsroom, Samsung.com, and Samsung Global’s Facebook page. The event will kick off at 10 AM EST that is 7.30 PM IST. 

Before tonight’s event, many of the specs information related to the upcoming device has been revealed through recent teasers and a series of leaks as well as rumours. Recently, the price of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 was leaked on the web stating that the device is expected to come at EUR 949 that translates to Rs 84,000 whereas the 5G model is rumoured to be priced at EUR 1,049 that roughly is Rs 92,800. While the pricing of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is slated to be EUR 1,299 that translates to Rs 1,14,900. On the other hand, the 5G variant could be priced at Rs 1,19,400. All these prices are just rumours and can be taken with a pinch of salt, as the final pricing will be revealed at the tech galaxy Unpacked 2020 event tonight.

About the specifications of the vanilla variant, it is said to be powered by  Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and Exynos 990 SoC options with 5G options available in the select markets. This device will be offered in an 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage option. It is stated to have a 6.7-inch Full-HD+ Super AMOLED with 20:9 aspect ratio. For the optics, it is speculated to come with a  triple rear camera setup consisting of a  64-megapixel sensor with 3x optical zoom, 12-megapixel primary sensor with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. While on the front it is said to have a 10-megapixel selfie camera. Note 20 is most likely to pack a  4,300mAh battery with wireless charging and reverse wireless charging support.

Coming to the next device, which is the highly anticipated smartphone from the series. It is expected to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and Exynos 990 processor (India variant) paired with up to 12B of RAM and Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) technology for quick transfer of files. In addition to this, there could be a Snapdragon 865 and Exynos 990 SoC options. The phone is likely to come with a bigger, 6.9-inch curved-edge Dynamic AMOLED display that will be offering a QHD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. In addition to this, this handset will also be a triple camera at the back that will include a 108-megapixel primary camera sensor, with a 12-megapixel telephoto lens and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor. It is most likely to have a redesigned S Pen with nine-millisecond latency.

Next is the company foldable device namely Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G that we could witness at today’s event with a foldable 7.7-inch Super AMOLED display offering a 120Hz refresh rate. Moreover, the Super AMOLED outer display will measure 6.23-inch. However, it is expected to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 865 or Exynos 990 chipset paired wit up to 12GB of RAM

In addition to this PUBG Mobile also gets new outfits based on the environment and the theme. It brings outfits such as the Golden Pharaoh X-Suit, Warrior of Ra, Warrior of Nut, Underworld Guide and Mummy Outfit set. For the first time, these costumes can be  upgraded up to six levels to access additional benefits, including:

  • Outfit appearance upgrade
  • Exclusive entry emotes
  • Outfit-exclusive lobby emotes
  • Teammate interaction emotes and item sharing
  • Spawn Island and kill announcement special effects

Moreover, the outfits include a unique and exclusive Treasure Create that players can unlock for additional rewards, including Pharaoh Coins to exchange for other outfits, materials to upgrade Golden Pharaoh X-Suit and more. Players can also make lucky draws by using UC or Silver Fragments.

Coming to the new Arena gameplay brings content such as Team Gun Game and Library map. The Team Gun Game offers four vs. four gameplay with Arena mode starting weapons. In order to upgrade their weapons, the players have to defeat opponents. Those who come first can use the final weapon notorious pan and also claim the Chicken Dinner. The Team Gun Game will be available every weekend.

With India’s Independence Day inching closer, Google, along with its partners Prasar Bharati and Virtual Bharat, invite you to participate in a unique AI experiment involves two key ingredients: the most cutting-edge AI work we’re doing in music, and… your voice! The tech giant is bringing together these two elements to produce a song that you would know all too well — the Indian national anthem on the 73rd anniversary of India’s independence

“All you need to do is sing the national anthem, then using the power of AI your voice will get converted into one of three traditional Indian instruments — the shehnai, sarangi, or bansuri — effectively rendering your performance of the national anthem in the instrument of your choice,” said Sanjay Gupta, Vice President and Country Manager, Google India.

According to Google, “Taking part in this experiment is simple. Using a smartphone, head over to g.co/SoundsofIndia and you will see an interactive web app that steps you through the process. You will first be able to hear the national anthem, giving you a sense of the pitch and tempo. Next, you’ll see a screen with the lyrics of the national anthem, which get highlighted to help you sing in rhythm — much like you would with a karaoke track. After you’ve sung, pick your favourite Indian instrument and in a few moments you’ll have your own version of the national anthem — as sung by you but in the sound of your favourite Indian instrument — downloaded and ready to share. Finally, you can join scores of others and submit your rendition to this experiment.”

Mind you! The computation for this experience runs completely in your browser and on-device using TensorFlow, and no personally identifiable information is collected or stored. Google will bring the culmination of this experience on this 73rd anniversary of India’s Independence.

Redmi 9 Prime with MediaTek Helio G80 SoC launched in India

Redmi 9 Prime is now official in India. The Chinese smartphone company has introduced the device under the affordable segment. Also, the smartphone shares all the specifications with the Redmi 9 global variant which was launched last month in Spain. The key highlights of the smartphone include quad rear camera setup, a water drop design display and an infrared (IR) blaster. In addition to this, the handset is powered by a MediaTek Helio G80 SoC. Redmi 9 Prime has been launched in India in two variants. The 4GB RAM with 64GB storage variant has been priced at Rs 9,999 while the 128GB storage model comes at Rs 11,999. Both the variants will be offered in four colour options of Space Blue, Mint Green, Matte Black, and Sunrise Flare. The device is scheduled to go on sale in India on August 6 during Prime Days Sale via Amazon. Also, the device can be purchased via other portals such as mi.com, Amazon India, Mi Home stores, and Mi Studios from August 17.

In the June Future of Gaming digital event, Sony announced an array of PlayStation 5 peripherals and accessories that will be launching this holiday season. Now, Sony has revealed how existing PlayStation 4 peripherals are compatible with the next-gen system.

According to Sony, Specialty peripherals, such as officially licensed racing wheels, arcade sticks, and flight sticks, will work with PS5 games and supported PS4 games. Besides this, the Platinum and Gold Wireless Headsets, as well as third-party headsets that connect via USB port or audio jack, will work on PS5 (the headset companion app is not compatible with PS5). It was further revealed that the DualShock 4 wireless controller and PlayStation officially licensed third-party gamepad controllers will work with supported PS4 games.

Additionally, Sony revealed that both the PS Move Motion Controllers and the PlayStation VR Aim Controller will work with supported PS VR games on PS5. Mind you! Sony also notified that not all PlayStation officially licensed or third-party peripherals/accessories may work on PS5.

If you are wondering that DualShock 4 work with PS5 games, Sony reveals that it won’t work as PS5 games should take advantage of the new capabilities and features that includes the DualSense wireless controller.

Moreover, PlayStation Camera will work with PS5 for playing supported PS VR games. It will require a PlayStation Camera adaptor that will be provided at no additional cost to PS VR users. More details on how to get the adaptor will be announced at a later date.

Meanwhile, Sony also revealed that State of Play will return on August with a focus on third-party-published games coming to PS4 and PS VR. The company also has a few PS5 game updates on third-party and indie titles that the fans last saw in June’s PS5 showcase. Mind you! The new State of Play episode can be watched live on Twitch and YouTube.

“The episode is weighing in at 40+ minutes. We’ve got a great lineup in store featuring plenty of new gameplay footage and other game updates. Can’t wait to hear what you think!” Sid Shuman, Senior Director, SIE Content Communications.

However, Sony clarified that there will be no PlayStation Studios updates in the episode that will be aired on August 6th. There won’t be any updates around hardware, business, pre-orders, or dates either. The focus is squarely on showcasing some cool upcoming games coming to the broader PlayStation ecosystem.

Audio accessories manufacturer Harman has announced the launch of its new TWS earphones in India under the brand JBL. The company has rolled out JBL Tune 225TWS true wireless stereo (TWS) earphones in the country that comes with an outer-ear fit design similar to Apple AirPods. These features a USB Type-C port for charging and has been introduced at a competitive value to take on Sony in the true wireless segment. The audio device will be available only via the company’s official website in the country.

Harman has launched JBL Tune 225TWS earphones in India in the mid-range true wireless segment. The price of TWS earphones has been set at Rs 10,499. But will be offered at an introductory price of Rs 8,499 only via JBL official online store. However, the JBL earphones will be available via other channels also but will be available at its retail pricing. And, will be offered via offline channels also sometime later. This device is being offered in three distinct colours black, white, and grey.

JBL Tune 225TWS earphones come with a 12mm dynamic drivers. These features an outer-ear fit and easy-going body which is similar to the Apple AirPods comfortable wear all day long while you are outdoors working out or indoors working at home. The JBL earphones are 57gms in weight. The charging case has a curved lid that connects to your device as soon as you pop up the lid. Powered by Dual Connect feature the gives you a choice to enjoy music or make calls with either one or both the earbuds.

The JBL Tune 225TWS earphones are touted to offer 25 hours of playback on a single charge. Moreover, this device offers an additional four hours of battery life when fully charged. Though it lacks IP rating so these earphones are not dust and water-resistant.

In terms of connectivity, there is Bluetooth 5.0 support along with voice assistant for hands-free control as well as USB Type-C charging. In this price segment, the True Wireless Earphones by JBL are going to compete with Apple, Jabra, Samsung and Sony.

Communication systems across the world are evolving to support customers’ changing needs owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, Microsoft has announced that its customers can now scale the Teams meeting up to 20,000 participants to deliver online meetings and events at a much broader scale.

“Reach larger audiences to stay connected with your employees, customers, and partners. When building this capability, we were focused on your meeting experience, making sure that even as the meeting scales it is still easy to manage and listen to the speakers.  Therefore, we limited the size of interactive meetings to 1,000 participants, with a seamless shift to a ‘view only’ mode after the limit is met,” said Nicole Herskowitz, Teams General Manager, Microsoft.

The tech giant further revealed that each of these new capabilities will be enabled with the new Advanced Communications plan, which can be added to any Microsoft 365 or Office 365 paid subscription, and is available this week. In mid-August, customers will get Advanced Communications 60-day free trial via Teams Admin Center now or via Microsoft Teams website.

Under the new Advanced Communications set of capabilities, Microsoft gives employees 1:1 connections with Teams Calling. Connecting 1:1 with colleagues, customers and partners is important, especially when meeting face-to-face can be challenging.  Employees in any organization can easily call each other from Teams without a phone number. As per Microsoft, “For your employees who use phone numbers to make and receive calls with customers, partners, and vendors, those numbers need to be with them, wherever they are. With Teams Calling, a cloud-based phone system, employees can continue to do this whether they are in the office, working from home, or some combination of the two.”

When using Teams, Microsoft users are getting best-in-class calling capabilities—validated by Team’s leader position in both the Gartner Magic Quadrant and Forrester Wave reports.  With all your communication tools in one place, Teams Calling makes it easy to call anyone, anywhere with any device.

Moreover, Microsoft Teams Users can also move seamlessly between chat, calling, and meetings based on the needs. This saves IT time, reduces costs associated with multiple point solutions and diminishes the need for employee training. Teams Calling is a secure, robust solution that is being used by both large call centers and individuals alike. It can be deployed quickly using your existing calling plan or a Microsoft calling plan in select markets.

Additionally, as communication is being reimagined, so are the tools that Microsoft uses to communicate. Instead of a desk phone and other peripherals, the tech giant is taking a fresh perspective on what a phone could be with our newest device innovation, Microsoft Teams displays. This is a dedicated Teams device featuring an ambient touch screen, high-quality calling and video, and a hands-free experience powered by Cortana. With Cortana built-in, the Lenovo ThinkSmart View and Yealink  will be delivering the first Microsoft Teams displays in the U. S. later this year.

Microsoft also realize that being able to use existing hardware can provide important cost savings when moving to a new phone system. It has announced extended support for Skype for Business (3PIP) phones beyond 2023, so the users can continue to use their existing Skype for Business phones as they move to Teams.

Moreover, Microsoft users will be supporting core calling features on SIP phones from Cisco, Yealink, Polycom and others with Teams. Support for SIP phones will be available in the first half of 2021.

Furthermore, Microsoft is also expanding its portfolio to deliver new USB peripherals that have dial pads and a modern Teams user interface for heavy call users. Today the company will unveil Redmi 9 Prime in the country which is a tweaked version of the Redmi 9 launched in China last month. According to the company after a break of four years, it is now ‘Back to Prime’. Also, the device is claimed to go on sale on the Prime Day sale event which is to commence from August 6 to August 7 via Amazon. Until now the company has not revealed much information about the smartphone but the device is expected to get a quad rear camera setup, MediaTek Helio G80 octa-core processor and a 5,020mAh battery.

How to watch the live stream of Redmi 9 Prime

The launch event of the Redmi 9 Prime will kick off at noon in India today. The event will be live-streamed across all the social media channels, including YouTube, and its official website. The device is confirmed to go on sale via Amazon, mi.com, Mi Home stores as well as Mi retailer partners in the country. 

As the device is said to be a tweaked model of what launched in China as well as in the European market then it is to come in two variants of 3GB of RAM with 32GB of storage and a 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage options. This device will be available in three colour options Carbon Gray, Sunset Purple, and Ocean Green.

Finally, the wait is over as Google’s next flagship smartphone makes its debut in the market. Yes, the much-awaited Google Pixel 4a is now official. The company has also introduced its 5G variant of Pixel 4a. Both the devices are the successors of Pixel 3a that will be offering a midrange chipset with a new look. In addition to this, the company has also introduced Google Pixel 5 alongside both the other devices. The company’s latest flagship also features a hole-punch design display with the same camera specs as the Pixel 4 as it has a single-camera setup on the front as well as the rear. While the 5G variants come with a relatively larger screen than the non 5G variant.

The tech giant Google is yet to reveal the exact price as well as the launch date in India.  Pixel 4a price has been set at $349 that translates to Rs 26,250 that is comparatively economical than the devices launched last year. This handset is now available for pre-order in the US via the Google Store and Google Fi and the first sale will begin from 20 August.  While the Pixel 4a 5G price has been set at $499that translates to Rs 37,500 and will be available for purchase this fall. However, the company is yet to announce the price of the Pixel 5. Both the 5G offerings from Google will be available in the US, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Japan, Taiwan and Australia first. While the company is expected to launch Pixel 4a will arrive in India by October or around Diwali.

Starting with the Google Pixel 4a first that features a 5.8 inches OLED display with a Full-HD+ resolution at 1,080×2,340 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio along with a pixel density at 443 PPI. It comes in a single Just Black colour option. Under the hood, there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G chipset paired with 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB of internal storage. This comes with the company’s own Titan M security module and it runs on Android 10 OS out of the box.

In terms of optics, there is a 12-megapixel single rear camera set up on the phone having f/1.7 aperture with optical image stabilisation (OIS) for stable images. There are various camera modes such as dual exposure controls, Portrait Mode, Top Shot, Night Sight with astrophotography functions, and fused video stabilisation. While on the front there is also a single  8-megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 lens housed inside a hole-punch display.

In terms of connectivity, there is a 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.1 + LE, A2DP 7, NFC, Google Cast, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, BeiDou, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm audio jack. And, this smartphone boasts a 3,140 mAh battery supported by an 18W fast charger.

Whereas the specifications of the Google Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 remains a mystery as for now. It is most likely to be revealed sometime later. Microsoft confirms its interest to acquire TikTok’s US arm

After a conversation between Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and President Donald J. Trump, Microsoft is prepared to continue discussions to explore a purchase of TikTok in the United States. According to an official blog post, “Microsoft fully appreciates the importance of addressing the President’s concerns. It is committed to acquiring TikTok subject to a complete security review and providing proper economic benefits to the United States, including the United States Treasury.”

In weeks ahead, Microsoft will move quickly to pursue discussions with TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance. The tech giants these discussions no later than September 15, 2020. During this process, Microsoft looks forward to continuing dialogue with the United States Government, including with the President.

The discussions with ByteDance will build upon a notification made by Microsoft and ByteDance to the Committee Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). The two companies have provided notice of their intent to explore a preliminary proposal that would involve a purchase of the TikTok service in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand and would result in Microsoft owning and operating TikTok app in these markets. Microsoft may invite other American investors to participate on a minority basis in this purchase.

According to Microsoft, “This new structure would build on the experience TikTok users currently love, while adding world-class security, privacy, and digital safety protections. The operating model for the service would be built to ensure transparency to users as well as appropriate security oversight by governments in these countries.”

Among other measures, Microsoft would ensure that all private data of TikTok’s American users is transferred to and remains in the United States. To the extent that any such data is currently stored or backed-up outside the United States, Microsoft would ensure that this data is deleted from servers outside the country after it is transferred.

Microsoft appreciates the US Government’s and President Trump’s personal involvement as it continues to develop strong security protections for the country. These discussions are preliminary and there can be no assurance that a transaction which involves Microsoft will proceed.
