Reliance Jio is working on triple play plan which will include Jio Home TV, Jio Apps and Jio GigaFiber

0

Reliance Jio grabs headlines from time to time for bringing new offers and data plans for users at affordable prices. This is the reason it has become one of the fastest growing telecom networks in India. Now, Reliance Jio is reportedly testing a triple-play plan for its Jio GigaFiber. This new triple-play plan of Jio will include internet access for Jio Home TV, Jio Apps and the Jio GigaFIber with a single monthly recharge.

However, it is worth noticing that Jio GigaFiber is available only in a few cites of India and a majority of the country does not have access to it. There is also no official known plan for the Jio GigaFiber to be launched in other parts of India. The current users of the Jio GigaFiber are being offered recharge plans under the preview offer of the Jio GIgaFiber.

According to a report by Telecom Talk, currently Reliance Jio is testing the triple play plan amongst its employees and once finalized, it will be released for the masses. But the plan and its details can be seen on the Jio GigaFiber account dashboard so it is likely to launch in the coming weeks/months. But as of now, there are no charges listed on the triple play plan and it is still being tested. Currently, Reliance has only listed one triple play plan with a validity of 28 days. With the recharge of the plan, the users will get unlimited voice and data limit up to 100GB. The current plan also includes access to Jio Home TV along with a subscription to the Jio Apps.

But it should be noted that the inclusion of Jio Home TV service shouldn’t be a surprise as it might be the rebranded version of the Jio GigaTV service so its addition in the triple play plan is only logical. But since the Jio GigaFiber is available to some customers and is active in some cities, we might hear about the announcement or the launch of the Jio Home TV. However, since the company is testing its new triple play plan among its employees, there might be a possibility that Reliance might launch the Jio Home TV when it launches the Jio GigaFiber’s new triple play plan for the regular customers.

Till now, Reliance Jio hasn’t offered any launch date for the triple-play plan or when will it be offered to the regular Jio GigaFiber users. And it still hasn’t revealed when will the Jio GIgaFiber will be made available to other cities of India.

Lenovo Z6 Pro will officially be announced on March 27

1

Lenovo has been teasing its next flagship smartphone – Z6 Pro – for quite some time now. And now, the Chinese smartphone maker is stepping back in the smartphone market with its upcoming Lenovo Z6 Pro handset.

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer was expected to launch the device at the MWC 2019 but it just teased the device at the event without showing the specifications or the handset itself. At the MWC 2019, Lenovo Phone’s Vice-President Chang Cheng confirmed that the Lenovo Z6 Pro will be launched in June 2019. He also added that the smartphone will come with 5G support and HyperVision Camera. But now, it is confirmed that Lenovo will be announcing its Z6 Pro smartphone at the end of this month itself and along with this, some details about the much-awaited device have also been revealed.

The company’s VP Chang took to Chinese social networking platform, Weibo to announce that the Lenovo Z6 Pro will be announced on March 27. And looking at the posts of the VP, the main focus of the Lenovo Z6 Pro seems to be its camera. The post on Weibo read ‘Hyper Video’ which could be a small detail about the HyperVision Camera the Lenovo Z6 Pro will sport. But still, the company didn’t reveal the camera specifications or define what the Hyper Video and HyperVision camera means.

A few known facts about the Lenovo Z6 Pro is that it will come with support for 5G connectivity but according to some reports and leaks online, a non-5G variant of the Lenovo Z6 Pro might also be launched by the company in the coming months. Although the company hasn’t mentioned the processor of the Lenovo Z6 Pro, but there is a high possibility that the device will be powered by the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 SoC which was also used in the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT. The Lenovo Z5 Pro GT came with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage so the Z6 Pro is also expected to come with similar or higher specifications. The Lenovo Z5 Pro GT was launched last year in December 2018 and it created a huge splash in the smartphone market with its 12GB RAM.

Although the Lenovo Z6 Pro will officially be launched in June 2019 but the announcement of the device few months before its official launch should tell us what the Lenovo’s upcoming flagship device will have. It will also give us and Lenovo’s competitor an idea what they are up against so that the next batch of smartphones will pack similar or better specifications than the Lenovo’s Z6 Pro.

Pre-installed Android apps can potentially violate user’s data and privacy: Report

Most of the Android smartphones come with certain pre-installed apps like Google, Gmail, Facebook and Instagram. While these cannot be considered as bloatware, some handsets have a number of games and other apps installed that aren’t exactly too useful. And those, can certainly be called bloatware. There are some cases where the user is given the permission to disable or uninstall the bloatware apps, however in some devices, there is no option to uninstall the bloatware from the handset.

Now, according to an independent study led by a Spanish academic group it has been found that personal information of the user can be collected by the pre-installed apps in the Android smartphones.

The study was conducted by the public Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, IMDEA Networks Institute and Stony Brook University where they looked at pre-installed apps from Android devices of 130 countries which comprised of 2,748 users, 1,742 devices from 214 vendors. Although Android is a Google-owned OS platform, it is open-source in nature unlike Apple’s iOS.

The open-source nature of Android allows the smartphone makers to customize the OS according to their own wishes, so they are able to apply their own customised skins. For instance, Xiaomi smartphones come with MIUI, Samsung’s with One UI, OnePlus’ handsets with OxygenOS etc. The customization also allows the device manufacturers to put their own choice of applications in their customized OS before it is released in the markets.

The study found out that the pre-installed apps that comes with the devices puts a potential threat on the user’s privacy and security. As the pre-installed apps asks for permission and access to data before they can be used, but it should be noted that the same app does not ask for similar permissions when they are downloaded through the Google Play Store. As mentioned earlier, there are some pre-installed apps that can not be uninstalled by the user which increases the risk even further.

The co-author of the study said, “There is a lack of regulation and transparency and no one seems to be monitoring what these stakeholders and apps do.”

Google replied that it provides tools to the smartphone makers which helps in the development of their own version of the UIs but it also makes sure that no Google privacy and security standards are violated.

A Google spokesperson said, “We also provide our partners with clear policies regarding the safety of pre-installed apps, and regularly give them information about potentially dangerous pre-loads we’ve identified.”

It should be noted that the study did not focus on any specific app or software developers but they focused on the apps which lacked the regulations and violated the rules and the pre-installed apps were found doing the same.

With man’s dependence on the Android devices for everything in his day-to-day life, security and privacy are a major concern. It is up to the Android makers and the parent company Google to keep a tight check on the software developers to make sure no law and regulations are violated.

Samsung launches ‘Make for India’ Galaxy Apps Store for Indian customers

Samsung has always maintained that India is one of its most important markets. And since the beginning of this year, the South Korean technology giant is doing everything it can to take back its No. 1 position in the budget as well as in the premium segments of the Indian smartphone market. We should point out that besides its flagship Galaxy S10 smartphones, Samsung has launched three Galaxy M series handsets and three Galaxy A-series devices in the country.

And now, Samsung India has announced that it’s partnering with Indus App Bazaar in order to empower its users to discover and access their favourite mobile apps in twelve Indian languages. The move from Samsung comes at a time when the industry has seen a surge in the number of app downloads from smaller cities in the country. Samsung has said that it has taken this step in order to strengthen “the connect with its strong user base.”

Speaking about the development, Sanjay Razdan, Samsung India’s Senior Director, Services Management said, “There is a marked increase in the penetration of smartphones and mobile application downloads across Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets. We studied this trend in key markets and partnered with Indus App Bazaar to address the growing demand for vernacular applications. The partnership will enable our valued customers to access their favourite apps on Galaxy Apps Store in 12 Indian languages in addition to English. With this, we are certain that our customers across the country will find the ‘Galaxy App Store’ even more useful and user-friendly.”

Samsung’s move is a part of the ‘Make for India’ program and will aid a number of Indians to navigate through an extensive catalogue of apps in the company’s App Store. Also, more number of users will also be interested in using these apps since they will be in their own language. Samsung’s Galaxy Apps Store will be available in twelve Indian languages including English, Telugu, Malayalam, Odia, Tamil, Punjabi, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, Urdu, Hindi, Marathi and Bengali.

Samsung Galaxy Apps Store will enable users to download a host of free apps that too without having to sign in. According to Samsung, this is being done to make the experience hassle-free and easy for users.

Razdan further added, “We understand that there is a growing demand among mobile users to communicate in their local language. The new Galaxy Apps Store is a big step in that direction. We also realized that the mandatory sign in on the Apps store is an extra step and have completely removed this requirement for free downloadable apps. Coupled with the revamped user experience and the enormous catalogue of apps available on Galaxy Apps Store, we are sure that our Galaxy users will cherish the new experience and will fall in love with it.”

While it launched devices like Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 and Zenfone Max Pro M1 for the budget segment, its flagship Zenfone 5Z was meant for the mid-range segment and competed with OnePlus 6. For the premium segment, it launched its Asus ROG gaming smartphone.

Even when we talk about laptops, the company launched devices from its ROG series and ZenBook 13, ZenBook 14, ZenBook 15 machines, and all of them garnered appreciation for their performance. Asus also unveiled two AMD powered laptops that were aimed at gamers. It can easily be said that the company managed to make a mark in all these segments.

However, a report has surfaced from cybersecurity firm Kaspersky Lab which claims that the software update system of Asus was hacked and was then used to send malware to 1 million Windows computers. The malware went to the systems disguised as a ‘critical’ software update and was distributed by the company’s servers. Furthermore, it also had a real Asus certificate, so it looked exactly like an authentic update.

The details of the hack were first released by Motherboard, and Kaspersky plans to make more details about it public soon at a conference. But then, we should add here that till now, there is no clarity on what exactly the hackers wanted. They did target specific Asus customers and the malware had particular instructions for 600 systems, that were to be identified by certain MAC addresses.

If one of those systems was detected, the update would start installing some other malicious programs to compromise it even further. The attack has been named as ‘ShadowHammer’ by Kaspersky. We should mention that the kind of targeting that was seen in this attack is usually associated with espionage attacks by countries. These attacks most come with a malware called Stuxnet, which spreads very widely but does little or no visible harm to the systems that it infects.

As of now, it does not look like Asus contacted its customers after the attack happened and nor did it do anything to stop the malware from spreading. The company is expected to release an official statement about the malware soon. According to Motherboard, Asus denied that the malware spread from its servers when Kaspersky contacted the Taiwanese company.

According to Kaspersky, the number of PCs that installed the malware is estimated to be in “hundreds of thousands.” While Kaspersky said 57,000 people using its security software had the malware installed, Symantec said that it identified 13,000 people with the malware.

Telegram 5.5 update gives the users greater control over their chats and privacy

0

Instant messaging app Telegram is getting a new feature which would allow the users to have more control over their chat and privacy. Telegram is known for giving the users privacy and control over their accounts but with the new update, the users can gain even more control over their messages. The new update of Telegram would allow users to revoke or unsend their messages without any time-limit. The users will also be given the ability to completely wipe off Telegram chats easily.

The new Telegram 5.5 update gives the users the choice where the messages sent or received by the them can be unsent. It gives the user the ability to remove the messages from the chat itself. This option was available on the app earlier too, but it was limited to deleting the message from the sender’s end while the recipient was able to see the message. But now, the sender is able to unsend the message which would unsend/delete the message for the recipient as well. Earlier, there was also a time limit of 48 hours to revoke the message, but now the limit has been removed and it can be revoked at any time.

There is another feature which has been updated. In the new version of Telegram, the ‘Clear History’ feature would now let users delete the entire chat history from both the ends of the conversation (sender and recipient). With the new update, there is an addition of anonymous forwarding, which lets the user decide and restrict who can access his/her profile from the forwarded messages. To change the account viewing settings, users can go to ‘Privacy and Security’ in the Settings menu. From there they can tap on the ‘Forwarded Messages’, then the user can choose who can add a link to his profile in the forwarded messages.

Furthermore, Telegram 5.5 gives the user the choice over who can see his/her profile picture. He can either choose it to be visible for everybody or just his contacts. This feature lets the user block unwanted users who can view his profile picture, thus solidifying his privacy.

Other useful features that come with the Telegram 5.5 update are, ‘search’ option which allows the user to search for the setting he wants to go to instead of trying to find it in sub-menus. The update allows the user new ways of finding the right emoji, sticker and GIF for the right moment just by typing. The user can also add the emoji to his emoji reference database. Users can now also stream the videos they receive in their chats so they won’t have to wait for the video to download. The Sticker section of the Telegram messaging app has also been updated along with the support of accessibility features such as TalkBack on Android.

Apple’s AirPower makes an appearance on AirPods Wireless charging case retail box

0

Probably the most anticipated product that Apple fans are waiting for is the AirPower Mat by the Cupertino-based technology giant. Apple first showed off the charging mat in 2017, when it took wraps off its iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X smartphones. Even though the 2018 iPhone line up has also been launched and various leaks and rumours about the next iPhones are surfacing online, we still don’t know the date when Apple’s AirPower charging mat will be made available for purchase.

Furthermore, it was slightly strange that the company actually launched the second-generation AirPods that can be charged wirelessly last week, and there is still no word about Apple’s wireless charging mat. While there may not be an official word about it, Apple has dropped a big hint that the wireless charging mat is set to launch soon.

According to a report in MacRumors, Apple has drawn a diagram of the AirPower charging mat on the retail box of the second-generation AirPods Wireless Charging Case. The technology website says that a user sent the image to them just after receiving their AirPods, and another user on Twitter confirmed getting it too.

The back of the box of the newly launched AirPods shows a pill-shaped outline of the AirPower charging mat and a USB-C or Lightning cable close to it. This can only mean one thing: That the device that is yet to be launched will be able to charge the AirPods.

We should mention that this comes a week after a new Apple product image surfaced online showing an iPhone XS and the new AirPods inside the wireless charging case placed on top of the AirPower charging mat. The two images surfacing online so close together cannot be a coincidence. We feel that Apple is hinting that it will finally be launching the AirPower charging mat soon.

To recall, Apple launched the second generation of its AirPods last week. The updated wireless earphones from the Cupertino-based technology giant come with an optional wireless charging case and are powered by the new H1 audio chip. Another key highlight of the new AirPods us that they have hands-free ‘Hey Siri’ support.

In India, the new AirPods along with their standard charging case can be picked up at Rs 14,900. However, if you buy them along with their wireless charging case, you would have to pay Rs 18,900. And in case you pick up the charging case separately, you can get it for Rs 7,500.

Customers who ordered the new AirPods on the day of their launch will get the earpods by March 26 or March 27. The newly-launched AirPods will be available at Apple Stores and select resellers later this week.

Sony to stop letting retailers like GameStop sell PS4 download codes

Japanese multinational electronics maker Sony has confirmed that it will no longer let retailers like GameStop selling digital download codes for PlayStation 4 games. This new development will come into effect starting April 1, 2019. We should mention that even though the official confirmation from the company has come today, the reports about the news were circulating online since last week.

Popular game deals watcher Wario64 had obtained a leaked memo last week which stated the upcoming change, and it is worth adding that this means that players who do not wish to use their credit card information on Sony’s PSN platform will not be able to buy digital versions of games from brick-and-mortar shops. Sony has also said that it is not only singling out GameStop from its download code business, but it is a norm that all retailers have to follow.

Speaking on the development, an executive from PlayStation told The Verge, “We can confirm that as of April 1, 2019, Sony Interactive Entertainment will no longer offer full games through SIE’s Global Digital at Retail program. This decision was made in order to continue to align key businesses globally. To support full games and premium editions, SIE will introduce increased denominations at select retailers. DLC, add-ons, virtual currency, and season passes will still be available.”

So, if you still wish to buy digital versions of PS4 games offline, you can make use of the virtual currency that you own to do so. From what it seems like, the Japanese electronics maker will offer increased PSN credit options via some retailers so that it can support players who wish to buy digital deluxe editions and at the same time, to cover the full cost of a game plus tax when users checkout. So basically, you would be required to make your final purchase on the PSN and not in a store like GameStop. The code that you receive can be entered into the system once you reach by home and are online.

According to Sony, even after the change in policy, users will be able to buy in-store codes for downloadable content and other digital add-ons. These will include season passes for games.

Speaking of the leaked GameStop memo, there will be a one-week period post the release of upcoming titles like Days Gone and Mortal Kombat 11 in which you will be able to buy a download code from the store. Coming to new orders, Sony has suggested that the customers will switch the pre-order to a physical copy in case they don’t wish to buy it directly on the PSN.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro receives the Android 9.0 Pie beta update

0

Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 Pro is one among the best smartphones launched by the company. It packs good specifications and is available at an affordable price point. With the launch of Redmi Note 5 Pro, Xiaomi gained dominance over the mid-range smartphone market in India. When launched, the Redmi Note 5 Pro came with Android 7.1.2 Nougat skinned with MIUI 9.2.

But after the release of its successor – Redmi Note 6 Pro – the company decided to update the Android version of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro to Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 10 on top. And now, after the release of Redmi Note 7 Pro, Xiaomi is updating the Redmi Note 5 Pro’s Android version once again to Android 9.0 Pie skinned with MIUI 10 Beta 9.3.25, a report by XDA developers noted.

But it should be noted that the update is still in its beta phase so there might be some time before the final stable version of the Android Pie update for the Redmi Note 5 Pro is released. The Android 9.0 Pie update of the Redmi Note 5 Pro (device codename: whyred global) is skinned with the latest MIUI 10 Beta 9.3.25 and it is 1.7GB in size. So we recommend downloading it only when your device is connected to Wi-Fi.

The file can be downloaded from the Redmi Note 5 Pro’s official forum, the download will come in a zipped file which can be flashed after the download ends. But it should be noted that the update is still in Beta phase so it won’t be a stable update. Furthermore, it is the first Android Pie beta update for the Redmi Note 5 Pro so there may be some bugs and stability issues. As the file is flashable, so it should be done only by people who are well-aware about the workings of a flashing update. But still, necessary precautions must be taken and backup must be made before flashing the Beta update on the Redmi Note 5 Pro.

To recall, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro was launched in February 2018 and it was one of the best-selling devices of the year in the Indian market. The device was powered by Snapdragon 636 processor coupled with 4GB RAM. It had dual rear-camera setup and housed 4,000mAh battery. The successor of the device, Redmi Note 6 Pro was thought to bring more to the table than the Redmi Note 5 Pro but it failed to do so. However, with the launch of Redmi Note 7 Pro, Xiaomi hopes once again to turn the tides of markets and the Indian users in their favour.

We have also embedded the live stream video on this very page, so you can also come back here to watch it.

Huawei P30 Pro specifications (expected)

A number of specifications of the Huawei P30 Pro smartphone have been kept under wraps by the company. However, we do know about some things. For instance, Huawei’s consumer business group CEO Richard Yu confirmed last month that the company’s upcoming device – P30 Pro – will feature a quad camera setup on its back panel. Yu had shared a sample photo clicked by the Huawei P30 Pro on Chinese social networking website Weibo and the image comes with a blurred watermark. However, even though the watermark is blurred, one can easily figure out that it suggests that the device will sport a quad camera setup.

The image also suggested that the smartphone will come with a lossless optical zoom, which had been reported a few times in the past as well. We should also add here that while Huawei P30 Pro is expected to come with a quad-camera setup, the younger sibling – Huawei P30 – will feature three cameras on its rear panel.

Other than this, Huawei P30 and P30 Pro will reportedly sport OLED screens and feature waterdrop-style display notches coupled with optical in-display fingerprint scanners. While Huawei P30 is expected to sport with a 6.1-inch OLED display and come with 8GB of RAM, P30 Pro is said to come with a 6.5-inch display and house 12GB of RAM. Furthermore, it has also been reported that Huawei P30 will come with a 40MP primary camera and a 24MP selfie camera.

For more information, we will have to wait for a few more hours for the Huawei P30 Pro and P30 to launch.

However, customers will also be able to get a physical card made of titanium. We should add here that a reward program will be available on all transactions and other than this, the card would not have any late fees, annual fees or fee for going over the credit limit.

YouTube has cancelled its original series with a change in its video service plan: Report

YouTube is undoubtedly one among the most popular platforms to watch videos. Even though Netflix dominates the video-streaming sphere, YouTube has its own place as people turn to it to watch music videos, gaming content, tutorials, and more.

Some time back, there were reports about YouTube working on its original series. However, now a new report in Bloomberg suggests that the platform has cancelled two of the biggest original series that it was working on and furthermore, it is also not accepting pitches for other new scripted shows. According to the report, YouTube no longer wants to compete with Netflix, Amazon Prime and Apple’s video service and has therefore cancelled its sci-fi series Origin and Overthinking with Kat & June.

We should mention that this news has come in just before the launch of Apple’s new TV streaming service, which will be unveiled later today. We should mention that the Cupertino-based technology giant plans to spend as much as $2 billion to build its original content this year and to do this, has roped in Hollywood personalities like Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Chris Evans.

However, initially, even Apple’s service is expected to rely more on channels like HBO, Showtime and Starz. Apple will build its content simultaneously and unveil it later on its platform.

Coming back to YouTube, some time back Google had a very different plan for its streaming service and the company hoped that it would offer original content exclusively to paid subscribers. However, we should add here that late last year, some reports emerged that said that Google will be shifting its focus away from subscriptions and will instead try to get sponsorships and ad support for its future shows.

It is worth adding here that YouTube Premium, which was originally called as YouTube Red, will continue to be available in various parts of the world. However, it will focus more on music and less on premium original content. Although the service will still have original video content, it will mostly be made in collaboration with YouTube content creators and not by partnering with Hollywood stars.

Speaking of Apple’s service, a report in The Wall Street Journal stated that the Cupertino-based technology giant has been negotiating with premium channels like HBO, Showtime, and Starz to offer a standardized $9.99 monthly subscription each. So, Users may have to pay $9.99 for its video subscription service and the original content would be paid too.

Facebook-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp has launched the second-leg of its ‘Share Joy, Not Rumours’ campaign, which intends to educate people to use the platform responsibly considering that Lok Sabha elections are just around the corner.

The company has today issued a statement which says the new education campaign would inform people about the controls that are available on WhatsApp which they can use in order to stop the spread of misinformation. This would be useful considering the fact the close to elections, many are expected to use the popular instant messaging app to spread information that is not accurate.

The campaign would be joining a number of TV, print and radio ads that have surfaced online previously and educate people on stopping misinformation spreading at the time of Lok Sabha elections.

According to WhatsApp, the first phase of its campaign successfully reached hundreds of millions of Indians in rural as well as urban areas. And now, the company is planning to build on the campaign with a second-round focused on supporting a safe election process.

Speaking about the campaign, Abhijit Bose, Head of India, WhatsApp said, “Proactively working with the Election Committee and local partners for a safe election is our top priority. Expanding our education campaign to help people easily identify and stop malicious messages is another step towards improving the safety of our users.”

WhatsApp has partnered with DEF and NASSCOM, which will be acting as the company’s digital literacy partners and share videos to grow awareness among people. The print ads, on the other hand, will be used to remind people how to spot, verify and stop sharing of misinformation that has the potential of causing harmful outcomes during the pre-polling period.

WhatsApp has mentioned that the campaign is one part of a series of actions that need to come together to resolve the underlying societal challenges contributing to misinformation and the company says that it is continued to be committed to doing its part to ensure that the platform continues to be a safe and private space for personal communication.

Among other changes, WhatsApp has introduced the ‘Forwarded’ label that informs users when they receive a message on the app that is not from their immediate contacts, and it has also imposed a limit to the number of people to whom a forwarded message can be sent. During the first phase of the campaign, WhatsApp started banning accounts of users who engaged in bulk messaging and automated behaviour to stay ahead of highly-motivated abusers.

Google Stadia will not support ‘game downloads’: Report

0

Google’s new game streaming service, Stadia was launched at the GDC 2019 last week but there were many details missing from Google’s announcement. The game streaming service is said to be one of the major launches of Google for the year 2019. But with time, more and more details about Google Stadia are emerging, and some of the details are given by the company’s VP Phil Harrison. And one of the major announcements about Google Stadia is that games can’t be downloaded and played on Google’s new game streaming service.

According to an interview by Gamespot, Google’s VP Phil Harrison said that the company is looking forward to making new games for its newly launched platform. It means that there might be exclusive titles for the Google Stadia in the coming future. It should also be noted that Google recently hired Jade Raymond, who is the producer of the first Assassin’s Creed game as a VP, so we can see the launch of the original and exclusive titles for Google’s game streaming platform.

Speaking about Google Stadia’s game download option, Harrison said that downloads will not be supported on cloud-based gaming service. He said that downloading games on Stadia is ‘not technically possible’. It proves the point that Google Stadia games can’t be stored on a local disk and it can’t be played offline. But he also stated that Google is working on its own games which will be exclusive to the platform.

Harrison said to the videogame website, “It was a conversation that I had with Google leadership before I joined the company. My point of view was in order to really deliver on the promise of this platform, we had to build our own games. We had to build our own experiences, and that was a very fundamental, strategic direction that we needed to move in.”

He also said that the California-based technology company will be trying to build games specifically for a data centre. About competition in the game streaming service and the platform’s game being available on other platforms, he said that he is not worried as the developers “are starting to innovate and think about the future and (build) a 21st century game, rather than a 20th-century game”.

Till now the price and other details of the Google Stadia is kept under wraps. Harrison said that they have a pricing system for the Google Stadia but they aren’t ready to talk about it as of now.

Initially, Google Stadia will launch in the US, Canada, UK and Europe but till now there is no word from the company about its launch in India. According to many gaming enthusiasts and industry veterans, the game streaming is the future of gaming and Google will be followed by many others in this sphere. But at the moment, it might be a problem in India as its infrastructure might not entirely support the game streaming platforms. So we might see a late arrival of Google’s Stadia or similar projects in the country.
