Sony announces Alpha 7S III camera in India for Rs 3,34,990
Sony India has announced the Alpha 7S III (model ILCE-7SM3), a perfect partner for professional users with refined features and exceptional performance. Featuring a brand new 12.1MP (approx., effective) back-illuminated full-frame image sensor with ultra-high ‘s’ series sensitivity and 15+ stop wide dynamic range, a host of video recording capabilities including 4K 120pi and 10-bit 4:2:2 color depth, a new heat dissipating mechanism, dual slot relay recording enabling over one-hour of 4K 60p movie shooting until battery ends, a new autofocus system, and touch screen interface and side flip LCD screen, the new Alpha 7S III will become the ultimate creative tool for video professionals and all types of hybrid still/video shooters.
Asserting the Alpha 7S III opens up a new world of possibilities for new age content creators, Mukesh Srivastava, Digital Imaging Head at Sony India, said, “Engineers at Sony are continuously involved in multiple customer surveys and Alpha 7S III is a result of many such survey findings. It combines the classic S series sensitivity with a feature set, performance level and user experience that is simply unmatched in the industry today at any price segment.”
The system architecture for the new Alpha 7S III has been completely redesigned to deliver exceptional video and still shooting performance. The new 35mm full-frame 12.1MP (approx., effective) back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS image sensor reduces rolling shutter by up to three timesiv and utilizes a variety of advanced light-gathering techniques to ensure high-sensitivity with low noise, allowing users to shoot in low-light situations without needing large-scale lighting setups. In addition to improved image quality, this new image sensor includes a focal plane phase-detection AF system for the first time in an S-series camera.
Along with the new sensor, the Alpha 7S III also includes a new BIONZ XR image processing engine that provides up to eight times more processing power, minimizes processing latency, and enables many of the hallmark still and imaging features of the camera. The new system also includes the world’s brightest and largest 9.44 million-dot (approx.) OLED electronic eye-level viewfinder and is the world’s first camera with dual CFexpress Type A card slots, enabling high-speed data transfer in a compact size.
The base ISO has been lowered to 80, resulting in a normal range of 80-102,400 (expandable to 80-409,600 for video and 40-409,600 for stills) to provide more flexible ISO plus wide dynamic range with low noise at all settings. It offers improved image quality by approximately 1 stop of noise reduction in the middle and high sensitivity ranges.
Moreover, the Alpha 7S III showcases video recording capabilities including 4K 120p and 10-bit 4:2:2 color depth. The Alpha 7S III offers in-camera 4K recording up to 120 frames per second, 10-bit depth and 4:2:2 color sampling, producing stunning video recording. The new camera offers a more flexible and efficient post-production workflow with a variety of advanced movie recording modes such as All-Intra and MPEG-H HEVC/H.265 coding (XAVC HS).
The Alpha 7S III the ultimate creative tool for video professionals and all types of hybrid still/video shooters. It comprises a brand new 12.1MP back-illuminated full-frame image sensor with ultra-high sensitivity and 15+ stop wide dynamic range making. Furthermore, it allows up to 4K 60p 16-bit RAW output to an external recorder via HDMI Type-A connector.
On the design front, the Alpha 7S III’s design has been updated to ensure effective heat dissipation and minimizes overheating — even during extended continuous recording sessions at 4K 60p 10-bit 4:2:2 video lasting an hour or more. The new heat-dissipating structure requires no fan or cabinet vents allowing Alpha 7S III to maintain dust and moisture resistance. For video on-the-go, the Alpha 7S III is the first Alpha series camera to include Active Mode with 5-axis optical in-body image stabilization to support especially difficult handheld movie shooting.
With Dual CF express Type A card slots that enable high speed data processing while keeping the compact size, the Alpha 7S III features two CFexpress Type A compatible media slots which also support UHS-I and UHS-II SDXC/SDHC cards, enabling high write-and-read speeds while keeping the camera body compact in size. High-speed data transfer to a PC is possible at about 1.7 times faster, then that of SD card. The dual slots can be set to relay mode for extended continuous recording of even the highest bit rate data as well as simultaneous recording and sort by format type recording.
As far as the price and availability is concerned, the new Alpha 7S III camera and CFexpress cards will be available across all Sony Center, Alpha Flagship stores, www.ShopatSC.com portal and major electronic stores across India from 15th October 2020 onwards. While the price of the A7S III camera is Rs 3,34,990, the CEA-G80T Memory card comes for Rs 21,100. On the other hand, the CEA-G160T Memory card comes for Rs 40,990 and the MRW-G2 Card Reader is Rs 13,700.

Motorola Revou, Motorola ZX2 Smart TV series launched in India: Price, features and other details
Lenovo-owned company Motorola has expanded its Smart TV line-up by launching a new range of Android TVs Motorola Revou and ZX2 Android TV. The latest series will go on sale during Flipkart’s Big Billion Days Sale in the country on October 15. The company has introduced Televisions in four different screen sizes 32-inch HD, 40-inch Full-HD, 43-inch and 55-inch 4K resolution and all of these are powered by Android 10.

All the Smart TVs run on the Android 10 TV Operating System and are powered by a 1.5GHz CA53 quad-core processor. Overt that, all the four Motorola Smart TVs come with 2GB of RAM and Mali-G52 GPU. The most premium ones come with 32GB of storage and the affordable range offers 16GB of internal storage. The latest Android has support for Dolby Atmos, Dolby Audio, Dolby Studio Sound, Dolby Vision, and HDR 10 for better audio as well as picture quality. These are further supported by dual-band Wi-Fi and Response Time Compensation Engine for motion enhancement.
The Motorola Revou series includes a spacematic stand with a metal wire finish. There is a dual-tone Swedish Linen finish with an inbuilt soundbar that features a razor-thin design. The 55-inch TV model has dual speakers as well as tweeters with a total sound output of 50W. While the 43-inch model also has two speakers that give a total output of 24W. The endless edge display has a 91 percent NTSC along with smart contrast dimming and an additional wide colour gamut.
On the other hand, the Motorola ZX2 series comes with a convex stand along with ports on the sides. Both the Smart TVs equips two speakers and tweeters with a total sound output of 40W.

Combining the Body I.S. (5-axis) in the camera and the O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer, 2-axis) in the LUMIX S Series lens, the 5-axis Dual I.S. 2 the correction power is maximized to allow 6.5-stop slower shutter speed*2. It is highly beneficial in telephoto shots and in adverse situations, such as in low-light or with one-handed shooting. The 5-axis Dual I.S. 2 works for both photo and video recording, including 4K.
With the new Live View Composite function, the camera releases the shutter at designated intervals of exposure time and synthesizes the parts with high luminosity to produce a single picture. While the total brightness of each consecutive image is accumulated in bulb shooting, only the target subject is detected and the user can synthesize them carefully while seeing it in live view. This is extremely useful for capturing shots of fireworks or stars in the night sky where the background needs no gain-increase.
The LUMIX S5 delivers 14+ stops of Dynamic Range, which are virtually the same as those of the Panasonic cinema cameras, to precisely reproduce everything from dark to bright areas. Trust us, the sound on this TV is very loud and good for medium to a large room. We played a lot of varied content on the TV starting from Netflix shows to YouTube videos. Since it is an LED smart TV with Dolby Vision, the games (especially the racing ones) look very nice. It is built on Google Android 9 Pie for TVs so boot time is quite low. It takes about 20 seconds for it to fully load up. The Tech Giant Google today unveiled the much-awaited Google Pixel 4a in India. The device was unveiled globally in August this year and it almost took two months to reach the Indian shores. Chinese technology company, Oppo, recently launched its Reno 4 Pro smartphone in India at Rs 34,990. The smartphone comes with a curved display, a quad camera setup, and a 4,000mAh battery that has support for 65W Super VOOC 2.0 fast charging. We spent a few days with Oppo Reno 4 Pro and here’s what we think of it:
Coming to the display of Oppo Reno 4 Pro, it is another one of the key highlights of the handset. The smartphone is dominated by a 6.5-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display that is protected with a layer of Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 and has a refresh rate of 90Hz. It is worth noticing that the Indian version of the handset does not come with support for HDR10, and although that might be a disappointment for some, in no way does it change the fact that the handset’s screen is amazing.
The images projected on the display of Oppo Reno 4 Pro are crisp and the colours are accurate and vibrant. We used the phone from different viewing angles and the colours remained consistent. The brightness of the device is good too. There is a hole-punch camera on the top left corner of the handset and the screen also has an in-display fingerprint sensor embedded on it.
We watched a lot of Netflix and YouTube content on the device and even played a lot of games, and doing these two on the handset was simply a visual treat. The sunlight readability of the smartphone’s screen was decent as well. In a nutshell, the design and the display of Oppo Reno 4 Pro were definitely among its talking points, and if these two aspects matter to you, you would certainly not be disappointed.
Moving on to the performance of the device, even though Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G is not the latest processor in the market, Oppo Reno 4 Pro managed to pull off most tasks with ease. But then, it definitely lags behind when compared to other devices in the same price range that have more powerful processors. In fact, OnePlus Nord is cheaper than Oppo Reno 4 Pro but still offers Snapdragon 765G SoC, which is a lot better than the 720G.
Of course, day to day tasks were not a problem as we could launch and switch between apps with ease and the smartphone’s performance didn’t deteriorate even when we multitasked on it. During our time with the device, we played a number of games on it including Asphalt 9: Legends and Alto’s Odessey. The smartphone handled them all very well, no matter how graphic heavy they were. Even though some of the gaming sessions were very long, the handset never heated up too much. It did warm up moderately after prolonged gaming, but we get to see that on several phones.
The 4,000mAh battery of the smartphone lasts for almost two days with moderate usage that involves watching YouTube content, some phone calls, listening to music and browsing through social media apps. Oppo Reno 4 Pro comes with 65W Super VOOC 2.0 fast charger that can charge the handset almost completely in half an hour.
Now, let’s talk about the cameras of the handset. Like we mentioned earlier, the device comes with four cameras and obviously, we had certain expectations. However, Oppo Reno 4 Pro could not really live up to them when it comes to photography.
The 48MP primary camera does a great job during the day, in well-lit conditions and offers a good amount of detail in the shot. The colours were also vibrant and accurate. However, the quality dips as soon as you switch to the wide-angle sensor.
So basically, you give up on the the quality in lieu of greater area covered. Even the zoomed in shots lacked details and clarity at times. The colours did not remain as good as when you take images from the primary camera.
In dimly lit conditions, switch to Night Mode for best results. Otherwise the images may have some noise. Most of the selfies that we took using the front-facing snapper turned out to be good, especially the ones clicked in well-lit conditions. But then again, the quality fell when lights weren’t too bright.

The design of the Oppo Reno 4 Pro is extremely premium. The look and feel of the smartphone make it stand out from the crowd and it can certainly be called one of its pros. The company has also added some of its own services like Oppo LAB and Oppo Relax to the smartphone.

Amazon begins rolling out Live TV streaming feature for Fire TV devices in India
The e-commerce portal Amazon today introduced a Live TV feature for Fire TV devices in India. This feature will let users access and discover live channels from their favourite content providers in the country. To provide this feature the company has introduced a dedicated a ‘Live’ tab on the navigation pane and an ‘On Now’ row on the Fire TV home screen for easier access to search, browse live content you’re your subscribed apps. In addition to this, the Fire TV users will also be able to integrate channel guides for these subscribed apps while the On Now row will highlight all the content that is live on various channels.
Amazon has started rolling out Live TV features for the existing Fire TV and Fire TV Edition users in India today and will be available over the next few weeks. The ‘On Now’ row is available to existing customers on the basis of their app downloads and subscription status. For new customers, the ‘Live’ tab will be available within a few weeks after the device is activated and the ‘On Now’ row will be accessible once they download and subscribe to the integrated apps.
“Since launching in India, Fire TV has been offering a vast selection of on-demand movies, TV shows, popular apps and features to customers. With Live TV integration, we are making this experience even better by providing instant access to popular, real-time content for our customers without having to switch inputs. A red bar at the bottom of each thumbnail will indicate the real-time progress of the show. Customers can also access their favourite channels by simply saying, for instance, “Alexa, Watch Colors HD”.
The new feature will give them access to a large selection of on-demand movies, TV shows, popular apps and features without having to switch inputs which can easily get into by Fire TV channel guide, accessible in the ‘Options’ row of the ‘Live’ tab. MediaTek has launched the high performance Smart TV SoC MT9602 with comprehensive features enabling modern 4K HDR displays. The new SoC is designed to deliver real-time video optimization with improved picture and audio quality, supported by MediaTek AI-PQ (picture quality) and AI-AQ (audio quality), along with HDMI 2.1a support, global HDR, and AV1 & AVS2 decoders. Flipkart, through its strategic partnership with Motorola, will be launching the brand’s new range of Smart TVs in Ultra HD and HD/Full HD resolutions powered by MediaTek MT9602 chip, on 9th October in India.

ViewSonic unveils M1 mini ultra-portable LED with smart Wi-Fi projector in India
In order to address the customer’s needs and provide them with relevant visual solutions and create products which are far superior in nature, ViewSonic has announced new additions to their M series of portable projectors with the launch of M1 mini and M1 mini Plus projectors. The pocket-sized projectors feature a built-in battery with power bank compatibility and integrated JBL speakers for a crisp and clear sound. M1 mini and M1 mini Plus projectors has been honoured with an iF Design Award 2020 for its ultra-compact form factor and overall design excellence. The M1 mini is available for Rs 39,500 and the M1 mini Plus comes for Rs 42,000.
The M1 mini and M1 mini Plus feature a built-in battery that provides up to two and a half hours* of power, and can be charged with a power bank. Both projectors come with swappable panels in three colours- teal, yellow, and grey, allowing users to customize the projector to suit their style.
According to ViewSonic, The M1 mini LED pocket cinema projector is compact and lightweight, the projector features a 120 LED lumens of brightness, native WVGA resolution with 1080p content support for an immersive viewing experience. Before arriving at the Indian shores both the devices were introduced at IFA 2020 in Berlin last month. Both the smartwatches are fitness-focused smartwatches that include all the needed health and fitness features.

Honor Watch GS Pro and Honor Watch ES have been introduced with a price tag of Rs 17,999 and Rs 7,499 respectively. The earlier one will be available in a single Midnight Black colour option while the latter will be available in the Meteorite Black variant.
Honor Watch GS Pro will go on sale via Flipkart during the Big Billion Days sale which will kick start on October 16. The Prime members can access the sale a day before on October 15. Hong Kong-based smartphone manufacturer, TECNO is a set to launch another new smartphone in the Indian market. On October 10 the company is going to unveil Tecno Camon 16. The company’s upcoming smartphone has also been listed on Flipkart. The device is a toned-down variant of Tecno Camon 16 Premier and is confirmed to come with a 64-megapixel quad rear camera setup.

Tecno Camon 16 is scheduled to launch in India on October 16. The company confirmed the launch date across all its social media handles including Flipkart. Just ahead of the launch the device has been listed on the e-commerce website to tease its availability and as well as some of its camera samples alongside the images of the upcoming phone. In addition to this, the selfie camera will further include eye focus technology, AI Video Beauty with 2K QHD (Quad High Definition) recording and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Video Portrait.

At IFA 2020 this year Huawei’s sub-brand Honor introduced Honor Watch GS Pro and Honor Watch ES expanding its portfolio of smartwatches. Both the devices are fitness-focused smartwatches that include all the needed health and fitness features. Today the company will be launching both the devices in India.
Honor Watch GS Pro and Honor Watch ES will be launched in India today. The company has also created a dedicated microsite for the smart wearable on the e-commerce website Flipkart. Just before the official launch, both the fitness tracking devices by the Chinese company got listed on the online shopping portal. The launch will take place at 12 noon today.
As of now, the company has not revealed the pricing of both the products but during IFA 2020 the Honor Watch GS Pro was launched with a price tag of EUR 249.99 that translates to Rs 21,600. On the other hand, Honor Watch ES was introduced at EUR 99.99 that translates to Rs 8,700. The pricing of the devices is going to be similar to what it is being offered in the European markets.
Honor Watch GS Pro specifications
The Watch GS Pro comes with a circular dial with a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with 454×454 pixels of resolution. It is powered by Kirin A1 SoC paired with 4GB of storage and is compatible with both Android and iOS devices. It has GPS support for location tracking with dual satellite positioning systems and offers multi-skiing. The smartwatch also includes 100 workout modes with 15 professional and 85 customised modes along with health monitoring features that include real-time heart rate monitoring, sleep tracker and SpO2 monitor to keep track of the blood oxygen level.
Honor Watch ES
The Honor Watch ES features a 1.64-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 456×280 pixels with an always-on feature and 2.5D glass cover. It comes loaded with about 95 workout modes, 12 animated workout classes, and 44 animated exercise moves. For real-time heart rate monitoring, the company has used Huawei’s proprietary TruSeen 4.0 technology. Also available with stress and sleep monitoring functionality the device lacks a SpO2 monitor to measure blood oxygen level.
