Social media giant Facebook is always working on how to make its platform more accessible and more user-friendly. To retain its popularity the company is testing a new tool in which the users will be able to transfer their images to other platforms. The user will now be able to move their pictures directly to Google Photos.
Facebook has launched a new tool called the photo transfer tool that will allow its users to transfer their Facebook photos as well as videos directly to other services, starting with Google Photos.
“We’ve learned from our conversations with policymakers, regulators, academics, advocates and others that real-world use cases and tools will help drive policy discussions forward. That’s why we’re developing new products that take into account the feedback we’ve received and will help drive data portability policies forward by giving people and experts a tool to assess,” Facebook said in its blog post.
Earlier the tech giant only allowed its users to download their information or chats from Facebook. But now the photo transfer tool will be based on code developed through the platform’s participation in the open-source Data Transfer Project and will first be available to users in Ireland. Based on the feedback the company will then will roll out the photo transfer tool globally in the first half of 2020.
“We are currently testing this tool, so we will continue refining it based on feedback from people using it as well as from our conversations with stakeholders,” Facebook said.
Facebook users will be able to access the photo transfer tool in Facebook settings. This can be found within the Facebook Information option where you also get an option to download your information. The social media giant has also taken care of its user’s privacy and security so all the data transferred will be encrypted and the users will be asked to enter their password even before the transfer begins.
Facebook has also asked other companies to join their Data Transfer Project in order to make more options available for people.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Review: Looking for the best Android Tablet? Your search ends here
Another new Samsung Tablet is now out in India. Yes, today we are going to talk about the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6, which is the latest entrant by the company. The company’s’ flagship Android tab comes with a price tag of Rs 59,900 for the LTE variant, with yes, few bank card schemes. As the price is classy so is the Tablet it comes with all the needed features as well as specifications one would want. The device comes in an all-metal body, but we will talk about its blueprint in detail further in the review. So, without any further delay let’s move on to a detailed review of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6.
The device comes in a sleek all metal and glass body. The front display features 10.5-inch WQXGA super AMOLED HDR10 screen that offers 2,560 x 1,600 pixels resolution. On the top, there is a front-facing camera with an 8-megapixel sensor for taking selfies. It also comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor and a face unlock feature, which gave us mixed reaction times. The display is brighter than the competition and it was a treat to view videos on it. We just loved watching movies and music videos on the device. The screen is also bright enough to be used outdoors under bright sunlight.
The back panel is made up of aluminium that does not attract many scratches and fingerprints. On the left top corner, there is a dual camera set up comprising of 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel camera sensors. Below you will that you get an S pen indent that can hold the S Pen to the tablet, magnetically. But the magnet is not super strong and has a movable grip, but does a fine job of keeping it in place. The Samsung logo has been as usual inscribed in the middle of the machine
On the upper and lower edge, you will get quad speakers tuned by AKG and we really loved the sound of the speakers. On the right side, a power key, a volume rocker and a microSD card slot have been put. The device comes with a stylus (S-pen) as well. It works as a remote control and can control the tab form a distance just like the S Pen on Galaxy Note 10 series. It also comes with Air Actions feature similar to Note 10 where you can prompt certain apps on the device like the camera. Personally, we loved writing notes in our own handwriting. The handwritten notes get automatically transcribed if your handwriting is readable, which in our instance was the case.
The device is a multitasker and with several app and internet browsers open on it, it never hanged or slowed down the performance of the Tab. The tablet runs on Android 9 Pie with Samsung One UI. You get the stock Android feel and is bloatware-free.
Below are a few benchmark results of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 which we ran:
Geekbench 5: 725 single-core score and 2,543 multi-core score
AnTuTu 3D Bench: 4,49,441
The scores were quite satisfactory as per the machinery inside. All the benchmark results indicate good performance. We did not come across any sort of heating or lag either while playing games or during long sessions of watching movies.
The DEX Mode comes to your rescue when you are in a no mood to carry your heavy laptop while traveling or while you are with friends enjoying a day out. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 can be attached to a Book Cover Keyboard and the Tab turns into a desktop-like mode. When the DEX mode is triggered you will see a system tray at the bottom right where you can access notifications and navigation buttons. The app drawer is on the bottom left.

Coming on to the camera capabilities, Samsung Galaxy Tablet S6 features a dual camera set up comprising of a 13-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel wide-angle lens that offers a 123-degree field of view. The camera did a fine job. The pictures taken were vibrant as well as sharp and detailed but that is only during the daylight. At night or low light conditions, the quality was a little unsatisfactory.
There is also an 8-megapixel selfie camera on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6, which clicks fine pictures but the quality of the pictures drops off during the low light situations as well.

The flagship tablet comes with an all-day battery life as it houses a 7,040mAh battery supported by a 15W fast charger that comes inside the box. To charge completely it takes around more than two hours offering an all-day battery life. We used it to browse the internet, Facebook, check feeds on Instagram listening to music and watching lots of videos and by the end of the day, it was able to survive with 30 to 35 percent battery.
Pros
Vibrant display
Good battery life
Lightweight
Cons
Cannot fully replace a laptop
Pricing is slightly high

Design and Display
After unboxing the Tablet, we were really impressed with the design of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6. To make it more user-friendly the company has given it a sleek look and is much lighter and can be carried in a small bag without any trouble. The tablet has thin bezels and curved edges giving it a much fresh look, but we were expecting a bezel-less screen that Samsung offers in its flagship smartphones. That is not the case here.
The handwritten notes get automatically transcribed if your handwriting is readable, which in our instance was the case.
Performance and camera
Now, this is the most important part of the review and we loved every bit of it. Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 is powered by Qualcomm’s top of the line Snapdragon 855 chipset. The unit which we got for the review had the 6GB of RAM with 128GB of internal storage. The storage if needed can be expanded up to 1TB using a microSD card.
The device is a multitasker and with several app and internet browsers open on it, it never hanged or slowed down the performance of the Tab. The tablet runs on Android 9 Pie with Samsung One UI. You get the stock Android feel and is bloatware-free.

Verdict
The overall performance of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 was decent. You get a vibrant and crisp display. The Tablet is slim as well as lightweight. We loved the AKG powered quad speakers that made the overall experience of watching videos or movies much better. We just skipped using the earphones as the stereo speaker’s performance was excellent. You do not need to carry your laptop everywhere when Samsung DEX is here. We were turned off by the erratic performance of the fingerprint sensor and face unlock instead we used the pattern lock for unlocking the device quickly. And lastly, we enjoyed working with the S Pen. Price is also on the steeper side and is comparable to a laptop, but that laptop will not give you the same type of portability which this tablet will.
Pros
Vibrant display
Good battery life
Lightweight
Cons
Cannot fully replace a laptop
Pricing is slightly high

Here is a clever hack to help you upgrade to Windows 10 for free
Microsoft is planning to end support for Windows 7 come January of 2020. The option to upgrade to Windows 10 for free officially is no longer available. As Microsoft is passive-aggressively trying to get more users to connect on to Windows 10, smart users have found out a way to upgrade their PCs and laptops for free of cost.
Here is how you can do it:
Users with a genuinely activated Windows 8, 8.1 or 7 need to download and run the Media creation tool, they will then have to enter their passkey given during purchase of their version of Windows they have or bought previously. This upgrades the system to run on windows 10 at no cost at all.
A Reddit user, who claims to be working at Microsoft since before the launch of Windows 10 says that the limited period free upgrade was a marketing strategy to get more and more users to upgrade as soon as possible. This limited period offer did not need a product activation key.
After the free upgrade period got over, users were required to get premium exclusive product activation keys.
The Reddit user also said that “WDG didn’t care pretty much at all because Terry Meyerson at the time cared more about his upgrade stats than license revenue as Windows isn’t Microsoft’s cash cow anymore. It’s the same stance back in the day where Microsoft would allow Windows Updates on pirated copies of Windows 7 as the bigger picture was to thwart security threats based from those copies,”
However, the user warned IT admins in corporations to not exploit this for large-scale free upgrades, which could land them in trouble. He warned users to be careful and choose to upgrade the current system keeping all data intact to convert the old Windows 7 license into a windows 10 digital license. If a user chooses to delete everything and start afresh, they lose the chance for a free upgrade.
Windows 10 was introduced almost 5 years ago and is till date the best operating system released by Microsoft. The company has stuck to increasing the branding and the number of Windows 10 users has only increased year after year. Microsoft even introduced a limited period free upgrade program for devices running older versions of Windows to promote them to the latest version. As of March 2019, Windows 10 was running on 800 million computers worldwide. This is leaps and bounds ahead of Apple OS or Linux.

Samsung’s flagship, The Samsung Galaxy Fold, which has been in the news recently, will only receive the update in April 2020, which is when mid-range and cheaper devices will also be receiving access to Android 10. Samsung probably does not want to take chances with the Galaxy Fold and wants to make sure everything works on it with the new update. The good news is that Samsung is not restricting the chance to update to Android 10 only to its premium smartphones, but instead is opening it to many more of its lineups.

WhatsApp’s new self-destructing message feature: Everything there’s to know
In what appears to definitely be a trend, WhatsApp too will soon have the message disappearing feature rolled out to the masses. Currently available only to beta testers, this feature allows a user to decide if and when do they want messages to be automatically deleted. This way, the user gets to control how long does a message stay on their device.
Users can opt from time durations of an hour, a day, a month, a year or the option to disable this option. Currently named as the delete messages option, this feature is only available on group chats and can be controlled only by the user. For example, in the happenstance of a user choosing 1 hour, any message delivered on the group chat will be deleted automatically within one hour.
This feature is not the same as the delete message for all option on WhatsApp, where on deletion, a message saying “this message was deleted” comes up for all group members. This feature only works when used by the user and does not automatically delete messages like the disappearing message option is available to beta users currently.
The feature is basically a self-destruct button to increase user compatibility by clearing up messages on a group chat, which can occupy a lot of space. This feature saves time for the user who will otherwise have to delete messages manually. This self-destruct feature will provide more security to users who have data they don’t want to leave traces of on their phones or on the WhatsApp servers.
Another feature WhatsApp is working on is the dark mode feature. This feature will first be sampled by iOS users who are running iOS 13. Apple iPhone users will also soon get access to call waiting support, chat screen redesign etc.
It is not confirmed if the self-destructing, disappearing messages feature will be available to all users on iOS as well and if it will apply to private chats too.
This feature is rolling out months after the much appreciated “add to group” feature where users can control who can add them to groups is a step ahead towards customer privacy and safety by WhatsApp.

The famous Jony Ive says adieu to Apple for fresh beginnings
Apple’s chief designer, Jony Ive who designed the look and feel of most iPhones and iMac has officially left Apple. Rumours of him leaving the tech giant to begin his own design firm was confirmed by the disappearance of his photo and bio from Apple’s website. Ive who has worked in Apple for almost 30 years announced in June about his desire to move on. His independent design firm is called loveFrom.
On Ive, Apple CEO Tim Cook has been heard saying “Ive is a singular figure in the design world and his role in Apple’s revival cannot be overstated, from 1998’s groundbreaking iMac to the iPhone and the unprecedented ambition of Apple Park, where recently he has been putting so much of his energy and care,”
Ive was also one of Steve Job’s dearest friends. It is said that Jobs considered him as a spiritual partner. Most apple designs currently in use are designed by Ive, including but not limited to the iMac, iPod, iPad etc.Ive’s resignation from Apple comes at a time when the world is looking forward towards Apple for the iPhone 12, and if rumours are to be believed, Apple’s first foldable smartphone.
Ive was born in London. He studied design at the University of Northumbria, who has some of his work displayed at their design museum. He later worked at a startup called Tangerine as a part of their industrial design team. He then left Tangerine and joint Apple full time in September 1992. He was the senior vice president of industrial design, and he went on to head the team for most of Apple’s commercial successes. Ive’s first design was the iMac in 1998 that made way for all his other design successes. His success in Apple makes LoveFrom a firm player in the whole design game in Silicon Valley.
The brain child of Jony Ive and Marc Newson, LoveFrom will also have Apple as one of their clients.

iPhone models in 2020 will use OLED technology from Samsung and LG
Samsung display is all set to be the sole supplier of the 2020 iPhone line-up for 5.4-inch and 6.7-inch OLED display panels. These future Apple iPhones of the year 2020 will come with display technology that Samsung Displays supplies to Samsung Electronics for their own line of smartphones including Samsung’s on-cell touch OLED panel. Called aY-Octa technology, this method will be used in iPhone displays being manufactured from 2020. While LG is all set to give film touch method-based OLED panels to Apple.
News is that Apple was looking for 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays for its future phones produced in 2020. So in came Samsung and LG. According to speculations, Samsung display will be the only supplier of on-cell touch flexible OLED panels of 5.4-inch and 6.7-inch.
A South Korean news site ETNews said, “It is expected that the OLED material for next-generation iPhones will also be coming from South Korean display manufacturers. It is understood that Samsung Display and LG Display will supply their OLED displays to Apple for its new iPhone model that is expected to be released in the fall of 2020. While there is a high chance that BOE, which had drawn many interests, will suffer a sad defeat, South Korean display manufacturers will continue to enjoy being the sole OLED suppliers of Apple. This news confirms once again that South Korea is far ahead of China when it comes to mobile display.”
This means that Apple is looking for better display technology available through Samsung Display for its new phones, which are predicted to be released in fall 2020. Rumours also suggest that Apple is working on a 5G network compatible phone that might be launched next year.
Samsung’s on-cell OLED panel does not need a separate film, leading to a thinner display and reduced production prices. Because of the advantage of the on-cell touch OLED panel along with the fact that Samsung Display is the only company in the world who can mass produce the on-cell touch OLED panels, has brought Apple to them for 5.4-inch and 6.7-inch OLED panels.
Meanwhile, 6.1-inch OLED panels will be supplied by both Samsung Displays and LG as 6.1-inch OLED panel will be based on film touch method instead of the on-touch OLED. In this case, Apple will be another smartphone company that will be paying Samsung to use one of its parts. Overall, this will also increase Samsung’s global revenue.
