Facebook has started testing hiding like count on its platform

Earlier this month we reported that Facebook is working on to remove the like count feature on its platform. Now the social media giant has finally started testing the removal of the user’s public likes from their post. The company will start testing this feature in Australia first. However, it is not confirmed if the features will expand to other regions also, but a test will make the company decide what to do next.

From now on Facebook will remove the public visibility of Likes, reactions and video view count from people’s posts and ads across its platform in Australia. This means the user will be able to like and add reactions to their friend’s posts,  but will not be able to view how many people reacted and liked that post. This can only be viewed by the author of the post who will be able to view the number of reactions or likes they received on their posts. This means this information will not be public anymore.

First reported by Engadget, Facebook told “We will gather feedback to understand whether this change will improve people’s experiences” The company took to this move because getting fewer likes brings down the self-esteem of the user and they stops posting anything on the social media platforms. This bold move will stop users from sharing pictures and messages to get more likes.

This move will let them post what they like but not what get them likes. This change can only be seen by the person who posted the picture or a video but not to their fans or friends. This move may improve the mental health of the users which will bring positive impact to the user as well as Facebook. This change will inspire the users to share freely instead of deleting the previous posts, which earned fewer likes.

Earlier, Facebook also ran this change on the photo-sharing app Instagram. First, it was brought to Canada and it was further expanded to Australia, Brazil, Ireland, Italy, Japan and New Zealand. For Instagram also, people were not able to view the number of likes they were getting on their post.

YouTube introduced new search filters to find and filter comments easily

The largest video streaming platform in the world, YouTube, where every day millions of videos are uploaded is improving itself. Here you can search for any video across various topics. These days the company is coming up with new features for its viewers as well as its content creators to make it more user-friendly. Earlier also it set new rules around community contributions in order to stop trolling. Now the video streaming platform has introduced a new feature for managing comment sections to filter questions and comments separately.

As per YouTubes blog post, it has launched new comment search filters in YouTube. This feature will make it easier for the creators to find and respond to the comments that are most relevant.

You can easily filter comments by:

  • Response status: have I already responded to this comment?
  • Contains question: does the comment contain a question?
  • Subscriber count: does the commenter have at least 1K/10K/100K/1M/10M subs?
  • Subscriber status: is the commenter publicly subscribed to me?
  • Member status: is the commenter a member?

To start using the new search filter first go to YouTube studio now from the left menu click on the Comments tab and use the filter bar at the top of the page. This will allow you to narrow your search for specific comments by combining different filters.

The blog post also says. “Previously, searching by keyword only showed you comments with an exact match (so searching “subs” would only find “subs”). With this update, you’ll see search results beyond exact match (so now you’ll also see “subscriber” or “subscribers” for that same search).”

The company also confirmed that it is working on expanding more filter options to the system. Previously, to manage conversations within the community it also brought creator hearts, comment pinning and a new setting to hold potentially inappropriate comments for review.

To recall, YouTube has also set new rules to stop the misuse of its translation features. Chinese smartphone brand OnePlus has launched its second flagship of the year: OnePlus 7T. The handset comes with a number of upgrades over the OnePlus 7 Pro that was launched by the company earlier this year. Here’s a look at OnePlus 7T’s India price, availability and specifications:

OnePlus 7T price and availability

OnePlus 7T is available in two colours – Frosted Silver and Glacier Blue – and it will be available on Amazon India’s website, OnePlus’ online and offline pop-up stores starting September 28.  The company is also hosting a pop-up event tomorrow where you can get a hand-on experience of the smartphone before you buy it. The device is available two storage variants. Its base variant has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage while its higher-end model has the same RAM clubbed with 256GB of internal storage.

The former is priced at Rs 37,999 and the latter is available at a cost of Rs 39,999. It is worth pointing out that it is the second time that OnePlus has launched a smartphone that is cheaper than its predecessor. The first one was OnePlus 7 that was priced more affordably than the OnePlus 6T.

OnePlus 7T specifications

Coming to the specifications, much like its predecessor, the OnePlus 7T comes with a 90Hz Fluid display. The company has also added a Chromatic reading mode to the smartphone to provide a better experience for readers. However, the device’s screen has an aspect ratio of 20:9, so it provides more display real estate to the user. The smartphone is also thinner than its predecessor and is just 8.1mm thin and its edges are 3.2mm in size. In fact, another big change in design is the circular module that the handset has to house the triple rear cameras.

Speaking of the cameras of the smartphone, it comes with a 48MP main camera, a 16MP wide angle lens with 117 degree field of view and a 2X 12MP telephoto lens. The company has also added a number of camera modes to its app including the Macro lens, Ultra-wide Nightscape and Super Stable Video. We should mention that the Macro lens can be used to capture extremely minute details of objects like small lines on leaves. OnePlus 7T also offers Portrait mode to its users.

Moving on to the performance, OnePlus has always touted the speed and smooth function of its smartphones. In order to deliver this, the company always sticks to the most high-end and flagship processors from Qualcomm. OnePlus 7T is no exception to this too. The handset is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset clocked at 2.96 GHz, and it comes with UFS 3.0 storage, which is currently the fastest storage in the world. As we mentioned earlier, the device comes with 8GB of RAM clubbed with up to 256GB of internal storage. The handset is equipped with  a 3,800mAh battery and it comes with Warp Charge 30T that is claimed to provide 23% faster charging than the Warp charge found on its predecessor OnePlus 7 Pro. Other upgrades of the smartphone include Dolby Atmos support in Stereo Speakers and the improvement of Haptic Mode.

It is worth mentioning that OnePlus 7T is the first ever smartphone to come with Android 10 out of the box. Like all other smartphones from the company, the handset’s operating system will be skinned with OxygenOS. The company has added the ability to configure Cricket Scores, create Smart Albums in Gallery and other enhancements in its latest offering. It is giving buyers 5GB of free cloud storage for gallery, and an additional 50GB of storage. Another interesting feature that the company has added in the smartphone is ‘Work-Life Balance’. With this, apps can be divides in two categories: Work and Life. If you enable this, notifications from the other set of apps would not bother you.

OnePlus has also introduced International Roaming, using which users can get roaming packages after they arrive at their international destination. Besides the smartphone, the company also took wraps off its OnePlus TV at the launch event and announced its upcoming OnePlus Pay service.

The next generation of iPhone models may have a new metal frame structure like the iPhone 4

Apple recently launched its new iPhone 11 series. Even before it was launched the rumours and leaks with regards to iPhone 2020 were doing the rounds on the internet. Earlier there were reports that all three models of 2020 iPhones will feature OLED displays and will come with gaming-centric features. Some reports said that the next generation of iPhone will arrive with displays that have a refresh rate of 120Hz just like the iPad Pro. In a latest development, it is said that Apple’s 2020 iPhones will debut with a metal frame, which the earlier models of iPhone 4 carried.

Now, according to a new report by Macrumors, it is speculated that next year iPhone 2020 models will be seen donning a fresh metal frame that is identical to the fourth generation of iPhone. Over that, a report by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has stated that all three variants of 2020 iPhones will have a redesigned metal frame. Ming-Chi Kuo is an analyst at TF International Securities, a financial services group in the Asia-Pacific region who also predicted that the 2020 iPhones will come with support for 5G. According to Kuo this time Apple will revolutionise the design of its iPhones. The phones will bear a new metal frame with a more complex segmentation design, new trenching and injection molding procedures, and sapphire or glass cover assembly to protect the trench injection molding structure.

“We predict that the new 2H20 iPhone design will change significantly.  The metal frame and the front and rear 2/2.5D glass are still used, but the metal frame surface will be changed to a similar design to the iPhone 4, replacing the current surface design.”

He believes that the use of metal framing and a glass case will ultimately increase the pricing of the devices by 50 to 60. But he also mentioned that the use of the material will trim down the harmful impact of metal protecting on the high-frequency transmission efficiency of the internal antenna.

In order to protect the injection-molded structure, the company makes use of sapphire or tempered glass on the groove. But significantly the use of tempered glass on the middle frame and chassis will also raise the cost by 25–35 percent. This will serve as the biggest selling point, therefore, adding to supplier revenue and profitability. Nintendo, the company behind Mario, has finally brought the Kart racing version of Mario to the handheld smart screen. Yes, the Japanese company has launched Mario Kart Tour on iOS as well as Android devices and it already is available for download.

It has not even been a full 24 hours since the launch and the game has already been downloaded over 5 million times from Android Play Store. This just shows how popular Mario Kart Tour is. India is amongst one of the first countries to get the new game along with other Asian and American regions. Remember you would need to create a Nintendo account, if you already do not have one, after downloading the game to play it. A lot of cool features have been added to the game like you can play with just one hand on any Android or iOS device.

Over that, you get the Frenzy mode here in Mario Kart Tour that will make you invincible on the track to get you to the finish line first without a scratch. You can choose from a variety of Karts and earn badges as you progress through the stages. This progress will also grant you new Karts and gliders that will help you along the way to victory. A ranking system has also come into play where you can earn points and get to the top of the leaderboard. Just keep sharpening your skills on the racetrack and you will see a rise in your rank. The graphics are pretty nice and if you have a mid to high-end smartphone you are less likely to be hit by a lag or glitch in this game.
