The company will be collaborating with popular smartphone brands to launch the 7nm MediaTek Dimensity 800U powered smartphones in India. The company has announced during the India Mobile Congress 2020. The chipset will deliver a 5G experience to the mid-range devices and that to come in January 2021.  According to MediaTek, the first MediaTek powered 5G smartphones available in India in January next year. The U in the MediaTek Dimensity 800U stands for Ultra Connected – provides dual 5G SIM capabilities to future-ready smartphones with access to the highest quality voice calling services with VoNR from either connection. The 5G-integrated chip is said to feature exclusive MediaTek 5G UltraSave technologies providing 2.3Gbps download speeds  The Dimensity 800U provides 5G-CA (2CC 5G Carrier Aggregation) and Dual 5G SIM; technologies offered beyond competitor solutions.5G-CA enables higher average speeds and a seamless handover between two 5G connection areas across a coverage layer, where users receive over 30% greater throughput layer coverage than without CA. Google Photos is now going cross-platform and is now getting a new update in which the users are now allowed to sync liked images with Apple Photos for a better user experience.  In addition to this, Google Pixel devices are also getting a new filter as part of the December feature drop. The company has introduced a new editing tab namely Suggestions which will now offer machine learning-based filters in Google Photos to edit images in the app itself. Moreover, there will be a  Dynamic filter to brighten up the and change colour contrast for sunset and sunrise pictures. According to a new report by Android Police, Google is rolling out a new feature to Google Photos app to let the user sync liked pictures with Apple Photos. The new feature can be accessed through the Settings menu of the Android app for iOS. Tap on your profile photo at the top right corner and open settings. In the settings, you will see a new Apple Photos menu to let you access the new sync feature.

When the feature is enabled on the app, pictures which are liked in Apple photos will now be starred in Google Photos and vice versa while the unfavourite photo in Apple will show up in other apps as well. According to Google, iOS users may already see the prompt in the app and can turn it on to sync features via the Favourites. If the feature is turned off the already favourited photos will still remain favourites. While the report notes that the Apple app will sync almost instantly when you star an image in Google Photos. According to the publisher, the process is a “bit slower when reversed, though, with Google Photos taking a minute or two to catch up. Closing the app and opening it again, forcing a refresh, will hurry that process along.” Apart from this Google Pixel phones are getting ML-based filters to edit the pictures natively using the new editing suite new in Google Photos. A  tab called Suggestions has been introduced with the capability of editing pictures within the app. The Tab will include other filters such as Vivid, Luminous, Radiant, Ember, Airy, Afterglow, and Stormy. Besides suggestion, a Dynamic filter to enhance the brightness, contrast and colour in addition to sunset and sunrise suggestions. On completion of 25 successful years in India, Samsung has launched #PoweringDigitalIndia, its brand new vision for the country that will be driven by an exciting new citizenship program aimed at students across the nation, a refreshed local R&D strategy with special focus on the local startup community and new initiatives in manufacturing. “At 25, Samsung India is as young and vibrant as New India. Millions of our consumers, our partners and employees, have loved Samsung over the years to make us the country’s biggest, most trusted and most admired brand of mobile phones and consumer electronics, with almost every home in India having a touch of Samsung. Our new vision #PoweringDigitalIndia sets the course for India’s future growth, in which Samsung will continue to be its strongest partner,” said Ken Kang, President & CEO, Samsung Southwest Asia. “Samsung is committed to work with the Government of India and various state governments to realize their vision of nation building, digital inclusion, digital empowerment and bridging of the digital divide through multiple initiatives in manufacturing, R&D, creation of jobs and entrepreneurship, responsible citizenship and transformational innovations,” he added. Under this initiative of Powering Digital India vision, Samsung will launch a new youth-centric citizenship program which will involve engineering students and academia from across the country and will help create a stronger innovation ecosystem in the country. The contours of the program will be unveiled soon. Futhermore, Samsung’s R&D centres in India will continue to work on advanced R&D areas such as 5G, AI, IoT as well as on cloud services and embrace end-to-end thinking to take projects from research to development to the commercialization stage. Additionally, Samsung will expand Open Innovation with startups, students and universities to help strengthen the innovation and startup ecosystem in the country and also augment their in-house innovation capabilities. The culture of innovation at Samsung R&D centres will enable thousands of engineers to create patents and leave their mark in the fields of technology and user experience. Besides this, Samsung is also planning new initiatives in manufacturing in India, contributing to the government’s vision of ‘Make in India’ and developing the country as an electronics manufacturing and exports hub. Samsung’s journey in India started back in 1995, in the early days of India’s economic liberalization and globalization that started in 1991. Since then, Samsung has grown with India to become the country’s largest mobile phone and consumer electronics company with two manufacturing facilities, five R&D centres and one design centre, 200,000 retail outlets, over 70,000 employees, and revenues in excess of USD 10 billion. Samsung’s first manufacturing facility in Noida and R&D centre in Bengaluru came up as early as 1996. In an official blogpost, Travis Barbour, Communications Manager, IO Interactive, said, “Automatic weapons also simulate recoil with every bullet and we’re implementing unique haptic feedback for each weapon that is tied to the distinct sound profile of each weapon. Essentially, we’re emulating what it feels like to fire a specific weapon in the same way that we’re replicating how each weapon sounds.” Providing an example of the adaptive trigger support, Barbour added that when a gamer gently squeeze the R2 button, the finger will reach a tension point that will resist the pressure, and one need to hold their finger against that tension point to activate the focus. When the player is ready to fire, push past that tension point and they’ll feel the “click” of the trigger as the user fire the weapon. Boom. Headshot. It was further revealed that Hitman 3 will support 4K visuals, 60 fps, HDR support and faster load times on PS5. In addition to this, the free next-gen upgrade program allows PS4 owners (disc or digital) to upgrade to the PS5 version of the game at no additional charge. Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) 2020 is being held in India virtually all thanks to COVID-19. During the online tech conference Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani during his keynote promised to bring 5G networks to the country by next year. He also stressed upon the need for the 5G connectivity which is expected to be rolled by the second half of 2021 by the Indian telecom company. Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani today announced at the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) 2020 that their company will bring 5G connectivity support for better network coverage and connectivity. According to him, Reliance Jio will be using indigenous-developed network, hardware and technology components to bring 5G support to the new smartphones. During the conference, he also stressed to accelerate the early rollout of 5G, and to make it affordable and available everywhere. He also assures that Jio will pioneer the 5G Revolution in India in the second half of 2021. The company will work with other companies such as Qualcomm and Samsung to bring 5G in India. To recall during the Qualcomm 5G Summit that was held in October this year he declared that the company’s 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) is under works.  In his speech, he said, “As many as 300 million mobile subscribers in India are still trapped in the 2G era. Urgent policy steps are needed to ensure that these underprivileged people have an affordable smartphone.” He also added that Jio Platforms, with its family of over 20 start-up partners, has built world-class capabilities in Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Big Data, Machine Learning, Internet of Things, Blockchain, etc. We are creating compelling home-grown solutions in Education, Healthcare, Agriculture, Infrastructure, Financial Services and New Commerce. Each of these solutions, once proven in India, will be offered to the rest of the world to address global challenges.” Apart from this, the company is also working with the Search giant Google to release its 4G Android smartphone which is speculated to come around Q1 of 2021 to be priced under Rs 4,000. The company is also in talks with the local assemblers to manufacture a new entry level Jio phone. In addition to this the Billionaire Mukesh Ambani also stressed upon producing digital hardware in the country. He said, “Many leading global companies are coming to India to set up manufacturing facilities. India has developed world-class strengths in chip design. India secures 9th spot in global spam call ranking: Truecaller
Truecaller has now released the findings from their annual Truecaller Insights Report that listed the Top 20 Countries Affected by Spam Calls in 2020. This is the fourth edition of the report wherein there has been a significant shift in the ranking of countries that received the most spam calls. According to the report, India has dropped down to 9th position in terms of number of spam calls received by users globally, while Brazil continues to stay on top. Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s Truecaller report has shown that not only has the pandemic affected communication behaviour but also spam patterns around the world. However, spam calls received by users in India reduced by 34 percent. India still makes it into the top 10 most spammed countries despite a reduction in the amount of spam calls received. The Trucaller report further highlighted that 98.5 percent of all spam calls in India originate from domestic numbers that could partly explain why spam calls have been decreasing in India, as strict curfews implemented in the country earlier this year made it impossible for telemarketers to go to work, or utilise the equipment they need to carry out large scale spam campaigns. Furthermore, the Truecaller report mentioned the first three months of lockdown in India saw calls to emergency services increase by 148 percent. With regard to spam call categorisation, operators continue to be the top spammers in India with 52 percent user calls received for the upselling of various offers and reminders. However, the study also witnessed telemarketing services emerging as big spammers, recording a total of 34 percent. Gujarat emerged as the state that received the most spam calls in 2020, followed closely by Maharashtra. In the report, Truecaller revealed that spam reached its lowest point in April when strict curfews and lockdowns were implemented worldwide. The overall volume of calls also dipped during this period. However, from this point, reports of scammers taking advantage of the uncertainty around the pandemic emerged. In May, spam calls started to pick up again and have been increasing on average by 9.7 percent per month. An escalation of scam calls and robocalls around the world is expanding their share within the most common spam categories. Scammers taking advantage of the pandemic is a primary reason for the increase of scam calls. Another devastating fact related to India, is that 8 out of 10 women in India receive sexual harassment or inappropriate calls and SMS regularly. Motorola (Moto) G9 Power has been officially launched in India. The latest smartphone by the Lenovo-owned company comes with long-lasting battery life as it carries a 6,000mAh battery in addition to a hole-punch design display and more. The device is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC and a near-stock android Experience along with a triple rear camera set up. To recall the smartphone was launched in Europe recently.   Motorola Moto G9 Power price and availability details Moto G9 Power has been introduced in India with an affordable price tag of Rs 11,999 for the lone 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage option. The smartphone will be offered in two colour options, Electric Violet and Metallic Sage. The device is scheduled to go on sale in India from December 15 via the e-commerce website Flipkart. The smartphone runs on the stock Android 10 operating system. Moto G9 Power strides in with a massive 6,000mAh battery that offers 20W TurboPower fast charging support. On a single charge, the battery is touted to last for 60 hours. There is Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth v5, NFC, USB Type-C, 3.5mm audio jack, and 4G LTE as connectivity options. The phone comes with an IP52 rated water-repellent design that keeps your phone protected from accidental splashes. After permanently cutting the price of its three new smartphones Oppo has now cut down the price of Oppo F17 Pro by Rs 1,500 in India. Recently Oppo F17, Oppo A15, Oppo A12, and Oppo Reno 3 Pro have received a price cut of up to Rs 2,000 and now F17 Pro is seeing a permanent price cut. The new pricing is now flashed at all online channels including offline retailers in the country. To recall, the device was introduced in September this year along with the standard variant whose price has also been reduced by the Chinese company. According to the new development, Oppo has reduced the price of Oppo F17 Pro. The 8GB RAM with 128GB storage option is now available at Rs 21,490 down by Rs 1,500. The smartphone with new pricing can be purchased via Amazon and Flipkart. In addition to this, both the e-commerce platforms are also running offers and additional discounts on their respective platforms. On the purchase of the smartphone, Amazon is offering a 10 percent additional discount to the SBI credit cardholders. As Google regularly keeps updating Pixel features in order to make the phone experience much better. The tech giant has revealed that Pixel owners will get to experience the December update along with a few new surprises. According Harrison Lingren, Technical Program Manager, Pixel, “Many of the new features launched with the Pixel 5 are now rolling out to Pixel 3 and newer devices. That includes Hold for Me, which helps save you time when you’re put on hold by a business. Available for Pixel owners in the U.S. in English, Google Assistant waits on the line for you and lets you know when someone’s ready to talk. We’ve found that when Hold for Me is enabled, it saves eight minutes per call on average.” Besides this, Extreme Battery Saver is another helpful feature that has been introduced to previous Pixel devices. Once this feature is turned on, it allows the Pixel device to automatically limit some apps and only run the essentials so that the battery lasts as long as possible. Moreover, friends and families can share in the joy of watching the same video, cheer on live sports together and plan activities—even when they’re far apart. Apart from already existing Duo screen sharing in one-to-one calls, screen sharing is now becoming available in group calls so long as the users utilize Wi-FI or a 5G connection. Furthermore, Google is also rolling out new suggestions comprising a feature known as Dynamic that boost brightness, contrast and color, and a set of sky suggestions to help one create stunning sunset and sunrise images in just one tap. In a blog post, the tech giant also notified, “Google devices are most helpful when they seamlessly assist you throughout the day—wherever you are. We call this ambient computing, and it drives our approach to how Pixel should adapt to your needs in real time.” In addition to the above-listed features, the GPS on Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a (5G) is now more accurate when the user is on foot. This means the rideshare service can find you more easily, and there’s no more guessing which side of the street one needs to be on when they’re walking somewhere. Mind you! This particular feature is not available at launch in all countries or locations, and requires an internet connection and Android 8.0 or later. The Pixel can also now detect if a user is viewing a website or app in a different language and translate it using Google Lens. All that needs to be done is just take a screenshot or swipe into App Overview, and tap the Lens chip to see the translation. Additional improvements to Adaptive Battery for Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a (5G) can automatically save even more power if a user is likely to miss their next charge, keeping the device powered even longer. Adaptive Charging helps preserve battery health over time by dynamically controlling how quickly a Pixel device charges. Just plug in your phone in the evening, set an alarm and the Adaptive Charging will work its magic. Also, the new Adaptive Connectivity feature helps you get the most out of your battery by automatically switching from 5G to 4G based on the app you’re using. It’ll choose 4G for things like browsing the web or sending texts, and switch to 5G when you’re watching movies or downloading large files. Now, one can personalize their home screen with new icons, grid views and app shapes, or even choose custom wallpapers of famous artworks provided by cultural institutions from around the world on Google Arts & Culture (wallpapers coming soon directly into the wallpaper categories in settings). Additionally, there is a special treat for Star Wars fans: Google, Disney and Lucasfilm worked together to launch “The Mandalorian” AR Experience, an augmented reality app available on Google Play for 5G Google Pixel devices and other select 5G Android phones. Now all Pixel 3 and newer devices can customize the home screen with original new Mandalorian wallpapers. The Chinese smartphone company Vivo has introduced its latest 5G phone Vivo Y52s in the market. The company’s latest mid-range phone has made its debut in its home market. The key specifications of the smartphone include a 90Hz refresh rate display, powered by MediaTek Dimensity 720 processor and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. In addition to this, there is a 5,000mAH battery on the phone with 18W fast charging support. Vivo  Y52s price and availability Vivo Y52s has been introduced in the Chinese market in two different configurations of 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM option. The 6GB variant is priced at CNY 1,598 that translates to Rs 18,100 while the 8GB RAM option comes with a price tag of  CNY 1,798 that translates to Rs 20,300. The device will be available in three distinct colour options- Monet, Coral Sea, and Titanium Grey. It is scheduled to be available for purchase from December 12 onwards however it now available for pre-orders and the company is yet to say on the global release of the smartphone, Vivo Y52s specifications Vivo Y52s comes with a 6.58-inch full-HD+ display with 1,080×2,408 pixels offering a 20.1:9 aspect ratio. It runs on an Android 10 based Funtouch 10.5 platform. Under the hood, there is an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 720 SoC with Mali-G57 MC3 GPU. It will be available with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage option.  For the photos and videos, Vivo Y52s has a dual rear camera set up that includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor with  f/1.8 aperture and a 2-megapixel depth sensor with  f/2.4. The setup supports 4K video recording at 30fps and 1080p at 30fps. In addition to this, there is an 8-megapixel selfie camera sensor at the front with an f/2.0 aperture. Other than this the device includes a 5,000mAh battery with 18W Dual Engine fast charging support. There is 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm audio jack as connectivity options on the phone.
