The company has introduced the line up at a competitive price point, which includes the OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro and an India exclusive, the OnePlus 9R offering an almost flagship-level experience. The gorgeous phones feature a 120Hz fluid AMOLED display and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. This time the company has focused on providing improved camera capabilities. For this, the company has partnered with Hasselblad to provide a Hasselblad-branded camera set up. Sony has outdone itself with its latest launch in the form of PlayStation 5. We had been eagerly waiting for it since so many months and finally, the company launched the devices in the country and with extreme anticipation, we got our hands on it. This is the Sony PlayStation 5 review, which you should read before buying. Design Sony PlayStation 5, out of the box, seems something like you would see placed in a rocket ship trying to find life on another planet. Yes, this gaming console is futuristic and screams for attention. Dressed in white and glossy black, this gaming beasts is a class apart. The curves on the white panels add to the show and one can place it vertically or horizontally on the desk with the use of the in-box stand. Though we did not use the stand when we placed it erect on the desk, Sony does recommend using it, since that improves airflow. Sony PS branding can be found on the white panel, while the rear and the front hold a lot of ports. These include Ethernet, HDMI, USB type-A as well as USB Type-C ports. The front also has the power as well as the eject disc buttons. We have to mention one thing, the sides do not attract fingerprint smudges, however, the middle black part is a magnet for fingerprints. While the white panels did get dirty, we could easily clean it off with Indian made cleaner that has alcohol. Sony PlayStation 5 controller As always, a controller too comes with the Sony PlayStation 5. This time it is also dressed in white and black and has been upgraded. The overall look and feel of the controller is very modern, it has become slightly heavy, nevertheless does the job well. The vibration motor/haptic feedback in it is also more responsive and in some games, it becomes a delight to work with. However, not all games at the moment make use of it. Even the triggers have become responsive, and they require a certain level of tugging as they resist a little in some games. But that is very good as that adds to the realism and Sony calls it Adaptive Triggers. Performance Coming to the performance of the Sony PlayStation 5, we loved every bit of it. Since the company takes a couple of years to bring out an upgrade, it is not like the PC or the smartphone market which come with small to medium updates every now and then. Everything in and around the Sony PlayStation 5 has been changed, starting from its ability to support 8K screens. However, we connected it to a 4K screen from Xiaomi (since 8K was not at hand), the colours as well UI of the PS5 were lively. There are a lot of changes made to the UI. A lot of peppiness has been added and it is very modern. You get all sorts of light and particle effects in it and the UI like the PlayStation itself looks very futuristic. Over that, it has become very fast too. With the inclusion of an 825GB SSD (out of which you get approx. 650GB) the console is super quick. There is an AMD Ryzen X86 CPU inside, coupled with 16GB of RAM. Ray Tracing is also on board, which enables you to take advantage of things like reflections, better particle systems etc in games. However, we did keep it off since we found the performance to be slightly better and frame rates to be higher. There are not a ton of games available on the Sony PlayStation 5 right now. But saying that, the console is backwards compatible. We played some of the old games we had on the previous generation on to the PS5 and all of them seemed better, ran faster and we could make out the difference. If you plan to play with friends online, then we do recommend connecting the internet via the ethernet port as that will reduce the latency. Sony PlayStation 5 rear The Sony PlayStation 5 consumes 350W of power, which is not bad. A gaming PC of this stature will consume almost double of that. Talking about which, if you get the same kind of specs in a Gaming PC, it will also cost you much more. However, the graphics could be better. But that is a debate for another day. Up to 120 FPS is supported in the Sony PlayStation 5, if you connect it with a 120Hz monitor or TV. HDR is also there, which also adds a lot of great hues to games like Spider-Man and Astros Playroom. Another thing we really want to stress upon is how quite the console has become. While the PS3 and PS4 seemed like a hornet nest went disturbed, Sony PlayStation 5 is very quiet, even if you are playing games on it for hours. Verdict All in all, we loved every bit of the Sony PlayStation 5. It gave us very little to bicker about and we wanted to steal it from Sony and keep it for ourselves as ‘our precious’ (smeegle voice). Gadget Bridge anniversary is right around the and hopefully, the tech-heads in the team will install one in the office. But jokes apart, Sony PlayStation 5 is everything a casual to pro gamer would want. The looks are great, the gaming is top-notch, the load times of games is lowered and we got 8K support as well. At a price of Rs 49,990, it will be a great addition to your living room or den. Think of it as an investment you made right now and for the next 3-4 years your casual gaming needs have been taken care of. Google recently released a new application named WifiNanScan that calculates the distance between two smartphones with the help of the Wi-Fi Aware protocol. The app is designed as a tool for developers, researchers, demonstrators who want to carry out developments and testing of their applications.

WifiNanScan works on the Wi-Fi Aware technology, which is also known as Neighbour Awareness Networking (NAN). The Wi-Fi Aware enables an Android 8.0 or higher device to connect to a nearby device without requiring any medium. The connected devices can share data without any hassle. The Wi-Fi Aware while locating nearby devices measures the distance that is utilised by the WifiNanScan application. According to Google, “Wi-Fi Aware capabilities enable devices running Android 8.0 (API level 26) and higher to discover and connect directly to each other without any other type of connectivity between them. Wi-Fi Aware is also known as Neighbor Awareness Networking (NAN)”.

The Chinese premium smartphone company, OnePlus, usually launches its flagship smartphone series in the mid of the year. Since last year the company has changed this trend by introducing the OnePlus 8 series in March and another one later in the year. In a similar way, the company will finally take the wraps off its latest OnePlus 9 series of smartphones in India today via an online launch event.  The upcoming OnePlus flagship series has long been rumoured and has also appeared a couple of times via leaks and other mediums on the internet. This time the company is going to change things. This time the company is speculated to launch not 3 but 4 new devices namely the OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro, OnePlus 9R and it’s very first smartwatch, called the OnePlus Watch.
The company will be launching the OnePlus 8 series via an online presentation that will begin at 7:30 pm IST Livestream on the OnePlus official website and YouTube. The company also confirms that right after the launch, the devices will be up for pre-orders in the country. However, OnePlus has already opened pre-bookings for smartphones earlier this month in China.  The company via Weibo post also shared that it has received more than three million reservations for the OnePlus 9 series of smartphones before its launch. To recall, the online reservations in China started on March 9 and will go on sale via JD.com, Suning.com, and Huantai Mail. But here in India, smartphones are expected to be available via the Amazon India website (exclusively). OnePlus 9 series What about the price of the OnePlus 9 series? Besides this, the prices of the OnePlus 9, 9 Pro and 9R for India leaked ahead of the launch. The pricing has been leaked by the popular Indian tipster Abhishek Yadav. As per the leak, there will be two variants for the standard model 8GB RAM with 128GB storage and 12GB RAM with 256GB memory option. The price of the former one is said to be priced at Rs 49,999 (roughly $691) while the latter one is expected to come with a price tag of Rs 59,999 (roughly $829). This model will be offered in three colour options of Astral Black, Winter Mist, And Arctic Sky. Moreover, the leak further suggests that the OnePlus 9 Pro will also be available in two different configurations of 8GB RAM with 128GB storage priced at Rs 64,999 (roughly $898) and Rs 69,999 (roughly $967) for the 12GB RAM with 256GB storage model. These might come in Stellar Black, Morning Mist, and Pine Green colour options, too. Coming to the OnePlus 9R which will be exclusively available for the Indian market is said to be made available in 8GB RAM with 128GB storage and 12GB RAM with 256GB storage options. These variants will be priced at Rs 39,999 (roughly $552) and Rs 43,999 (roughly $608), respectively and will be available in Carbon Black and Lake Blue colour options. What about the tech specs? Speaking on the specifications, features, and other details what we know so far is based on the leaked multiple details of the OnePlus 9 series. The rumour mills and leaks suggest that all the devices come packed with top of the line features. It is expected to have a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate display.  OnePlus 9 series Moreover, there will be a hole-punch cutout at the top-left corner of the screen. According to some of the images leaked by WinFuture the standard model will be featuring a glass back with a plastic frame while the Pro model will come with a glass back and a metal frame and the much affordable 9R too will carry a glass body and a plastic frame. The vanilla variant is suggested to have a 6.55-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate panel whereas the 9 Pro will come with a 6.7-inch WQHD+ display with curved edges. The OnePlus 9R is said to feature a 6.5-inch 1080p 90Hz refresh display.  Both the Pro and the vanilla variant is confirmed to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC with a 4,500 mAh battery and up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. However, the Pro model is said to have a 65W wired and a 50W wireless fast charging support. On the other hand, the standard model will pack a 65W wired and 30W wireless charging support. The company did not confirm the charging details of the 9R but it is tipped to come with a 5,000mAh battery.  All three models might run Android 11-based Oxygen OS 11 globally but in China, it is said to run on Oppo’s Color OS 11.2 out of the box. Coming to the camera details, the company has been widely promoting the photography capabilities of the series and for this, it has partnered with Hasselblad for the camera setup. The vanilla 9 will be featuring a triple rear camera setup while the Pro model is confirmed to come with a quad-camera setup. Both these models will sport a Sony IMX789 48-megapixel sensor and a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 ultrawide sensor. Over that, the 9 Pro camera setup will be assisted by an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3.3 optical zooms and a 2-megapixel depth camera sensor in addition to laser autofocus. The OnePlus 9 will feature an 8-megapixel telephoto lens but with 2x optical zoom support. The setup will also come with Hasselblad Pro Mode, which will offer more control options such as ISO adjustment, focus, exposure times, white balance and more. Additionally, it will also get improved HDR video recording with support for 4K at 120FPS and 8K at 30FPS video recording. There is no word on the camera details of the 9R. However, it is tipped to pack a 64-megapixel primary camera sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens.
