This year’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) comes to an end. The Cupertino-based company concludes the WWDC21 with the announcement of the Apple Design Awards. The ceremony is hosted by the company to motivate the creative artistry, craftsmanship, and technical achievement of Apple developers.

The Apple Design Awards honours excellence in innovation, ingenuity, and technical achievement in the app and game design. While concluding the online tech event the company announced this year’s finalists- apps and games produced by some of the most talented developers in the world. Finalists were chosen across six categories for innovation, visual & graphics, interaction, delight and fun, inclusivity, as well as social impact.

Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations commented, “This year’s Apple Design Award winners have redefined what we’ve come to expect from a great app experience, and we congratulate them on a well-deserved win. The work of these developers embodies the essential role apps and games play in our everyday lives, and serve as perfect examples of our six new award categories.” 

Following are winners chosen across six categories:

Inclusivity 

The  Apple Design Award for the category of Inclusivity in the app has been given to the application Voice Dream Reader. This is basically a text-to-speech app developed by Voice Dream LLC (United States). The application can read text aloud from just about any digital source such as PDF, webpage, or ebook, in more than two dozen languages. It comes with customisable settings letting users choose a voice with the perfect tone, timbre, accent, and speed for an optimal reading experience.

Another one to receive the award in the game category is, HoloVista which is developed by Aconite (United States). This game supports a wide variety of accessibility features, including options for motion control, text sizes, text contrast, sound, and visual effect intensity. 

Delight and Fun

Winners in this category are Pok Pok Playroom and Little Orpheus. Pok Pok Playroom is an animated app that captivates users with its thoughtful design and mesmerising interactions. It offers subtle haptics and spot-on sound effects, this app provides endless hours of fun for kids of all ages, while rewarding creativity and experimentation. Whereas Little Orpheus is another game with easy controls, excellent storytelling, and a console-like experience to a casual game.

Interaction

CARROT Weather and Bird Alone are the winners under this category. Bird Alone’s explorative interactions combine gestures, haptics, parallax, and dynamic sound effects that imbue richness into its world. The game is brought to life through clever notification integration, graphics, and music that changes depending on the real-world weather, season, and time of day. On the other hand, CARROT Weather is known for its humorous forecasts and unique visuals. It also offers witty weather projections to a robust set of customisable widgets and a collection of useful watch faces.

Social Impact

Winners in this category are Be My Eyes developed by S/I Be My Eyes (Denmark) and Alba developed by ustwo games (United Kingdom). The Be My Eyes is an application for blind and low vision to identify objects by pairing them with volunteers from around the world using their camera. Whereas Alba is a game that saves local wildlife, repairs the bridge in the reserve, and cleans up trash around town. This game demonstrates the positivity that comes from respecting the environment while telling a story about family, community, activism, and kindness. 

Visuals and Graphics

Application  Loóna and Genshin Impact are winners of Apple Design Awards under the visuals and Graphics category. Loóna offers gracefully animated sleepscape sessions that combine relaxing activities, storytelling, and atmospheric sounds. On the contrary, Genshin Impact is a game offering motion blur, shadow quality, and frame rate that can be reconfigured on the fly whether players are obliterating slime monsters, summoning earthquakes, flinging lightning, or guiding the wind itself to supercharge flames and blizzards.

Innovation

Winners in this category provide a state-of-the-art experience through the novel use of Apple technologies that set them apart in their genre. Application NaadSadhana by Sandeep Ranade (India) and League of Legends: Wild Rift by Riot Games (United States) are the winners of Apple Design Awards in this category. 

NaadSadhana is an all-in-one, studio-quality music app that helps musicians of all genres and any expertise perform and publish their music without boundaries. It supports seven different genres of music. Whereas “League of Legends: Wild Rift” takes a complex PC game and delivers its full experience on mobile. It offers polished touchscreen controls that have been designed specifically for mobile, and an auto-targeting system to help newcomers find their footing, mobile-exclusive camera settings, and much more.

The users will get control of JioFiber, and JioMart accounts via Whatsapp. With the integration, it will be easier for the users to recharge their mobile number on WhatsApp by sending a ‘Hi’ message to the Jio care number.

By simply sending Hi on the Jio care number (7000770007) the Reliance Jio users will be able to get their contact number recharged as well as enquire about other Jio services using the popular messaging app. In addition to this, the users can also get a new Jio SIM or Port-in (MNP). Those who want a new JioFiber connection, a query related to the broadband service international roaming, and JioMart all through WhatsApp. It should be noted that JioMart is also integrated within the chat application to place orders.

How to recharge Reliance Jio number using WhatsApp?

  • First thing first, save the Jio care number (7000770007) to your contact list. To initiate the process simply send a ‘Hi’ message on WhatsApp. 
  • Then a support executive will duly respond to the query.
  • You will be provided with few options that include Jio SIM Recharge, Get new Jio SIM or Port-In (MNP), Support for Jio SIM, Support for JioFiber, Support for International Roaming and Support for JioMart.
  • Select the appropriate option like “Jio SIM Recharge” and you will be getting some prepaid plans.
  • Now select your desired prepaid recharge plan
  • You will be now directed to the company’s official site to initiate the payment. As of now, it offers various payment options that include, Google Pay (or, GPay), PhonePe, Paytm, Amazon Pay, e-Wallet, credit and debit cards.

Verdict

Looking at the specification sheet there are some exceptional differences between the three smartphones. The OnePlus Nord comes with a glass rear and an alert slider like other OnePlus devices, the new OnePlus Nord CE 5G offers a plastic rear and also misses the alert slider. However, it includes a headphone jack which the original Nord does not offer. 

Xiaomi Mi 10i comes with a larger display than the Oneplus smartphones. The display supports a 120Hz refresh rate whereas the other two only come with a 90Hz refresh rate. In terms of hardware, OnePlus Nord runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G platform whereas OnePlus Nord CE 5G and Xiaomi Mi 10i runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G 5G. If we compare the mobile platforms, 750G is more efficient than 765G that can only be noticed during the day to day usage. Also, Xiaomi’s device offers a larger battery capacity than the Nords at 4,820mAh supported by 33W fast charging tech.

Both the original Nord and the Mi 10i features a quad rear camera whereas the new Nord has been downgraded with a triple camera set up but has a primary camera with better resolution than its predecessor. This is where Xiaomi stands out with a 108-megapixel primary quad camera set up. Speaking of selfies, the older Nord offers a dual front camera consisting of a 32-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, therefore surpassing others. 

Comparing the pricing, Xiaomi Mi 10i will attract more attention and praise than the others as it is a more camera-focused phone at Rs 20,999. So for the selfie addicts, you can go for the Nord but we would suggest you go for Xiaomi as it provides a powerful rear camera set-up and other useful features as well as hardware.

Keeping this in mind Sony has expanded its Smart TV lineup with the introduction of the Bravia X90J Ultra-HD HDR LED TV in India. There are three size options to choose from that comes with the XR Cognitive Processor with Full-Array LED panel, XR Triluminos Pro and XR Contrast Booster for a natural and immersive experience.

The company has introduced the new X90J series in three different sizes of 189 cm (75), 165 cm (65) and 140 cm (55) that are powered by Cognitive Processor XR that is said to use a completely new processing method that goes beyond conventional AI. It helps in maintaining focus on certain points which we unconsciously lose focus on. Cognitive intelligence knows where that focal point is by dividing the screen into numerous zones and detecting where the “focal point” is in the picture. There is support for HDR with the HLG, HDR10, and Dolby Vision formats. According to the company, this will make sure everything is synchronized and lifelike which conventional Artificial Intelligence (AI) cannot achieve as it can only detect and analyze picture elements like colour, contrast and detail individually. It also comes integrated with the XR 4K Upscaling technology that upscales 2K signals close to true 4K quality for real and detailed pictures.

In addition to this, the Sony BRAVIA X90J series has multiple zones of LEDs that light up independently, allowing to adjust and create contrast by making light areas lighter and dark areas darker with greater depth, textures.

Sony Bravia XR-55X90J Ultra-HD HDR LED TV launched in India

The Full-Array LED panel creates ultra-realistic picture quality full of lifelike contrast. Whereas the XR Contrast Booster on the Smart TV will deliver vibrant colours and stunning contrast with deep blacks and intense brightness, therefore, eliminating shadows or blown-out highlights.

The XR TRILUMINOS Pro helps in producing brighter colours by widening the colour spectrum with 3D colour algorithms. It also analyses and processes data in every image to make colours even more natural. With the XR Motion Clarity technology the new X90J series can achieve sports and fast action scenes smooth, bright and clear and brightness is boosted when needed.

The audio department has been taken care of with XR Surround, 3D Surround upscaling and Acoustic Multi-Audio powered by Dolby Audio and Dolby Atmos. As of now, the company has only introduced the pricing of the 55-inch model whereas the price of the 75-inch and 65-inch will be announced later on. The price of the Sony Bravia XR-55X90J Ultra-HD HDR LED television has been set at Rs 1,39,990 in India. The QLED TV will be available for purchase across all Sony Centers, major electronic stores and e-commerce portals in the country.

The all-new OnePlus Nord CE 5G is officially out in the open. The Chinese premium smartphone company today introduced this much-anticipated smartphone in the Indian market via an online launch event amid the coronavirus pandemic. The device is highlighted with a 64-megapixel primary sensor and offers 5G connectivity. Alongside, the company also launched the OnePlus TV U1S, which is the company’s new smart TV featuring Dynaudio speakers.

OnePlus Nord CE 5G pricing and availability

OnePlus Nord CE 5G is the company’s latest edition to its affordable range of Nord smartphone series in India. The device will be available in multiple configurations of 6GB RAM with 128GB storage priced at Rs 22,999. Whereas the price of the 8GB RAM with 128GB storage variant can be owned at Rs 24,999 and the 12GB RAM with 256GB at Rs 27,999. This smartphone will be available in three colour options of Blue Void, Silver ray and Charcoal Ink.

After numerous leaks and reveals, Motorola has officially announced the launch of Moto G Stylus 5G in the market. The device comes five months after the 2021 model made its debut. The smartphone comes with a quad rear camera setup headlined by a 48-megapixel primary sensor and a 6.8-inch full-HD+ Max Vision display. In addition to this, there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G SoC and a 5,000mAh battery to fuel the handset.

Moto G Stylus 5G price and availability

Moto G Stylus has been launched in the US as the 5G variant of the original  Moto G Stylus (2021) that was launched in the market in January this year. The new smartphone will be available with a price tag of Rs 29,100 for the single 6GB RAM with a 256GB storage model. The device will be available in a sole Cosmic Emerald colour option and is scheduled to go on sale in the US starting June 14. As far as international availability is concerned, the company has not yet revealed anything.

The Chinese smartphone company, OnePlus, introduced OnePlus 8T in India last year in October. Now, the price of the device has been revised by the company. The device has received a price cut of Rs 4,000 that is applicable on all its variants, bringing the device price to as low as Rs 38,999, making it cheaper than the OnePlus 9R.

The OnePlus 8T was originally launched in India with a price tag of Rs Rs 42,999 for the 8GB RAM with 128GB storage version, while the 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage variant was priced at Rs 45,999 in the country. The phone has now received a price cut of Rs 4,000. After the price revision, the 8GB RAM option can now be possessed at Rs 38,999. Similarly the 12GB RAM with retail at Rs 41,999. The handset with the updated pricing is now available for purchase via Amazon and the OnePlus online store in India.

The OnePlus 8T runs OxygenOS 11 based on Android 11 out of the box. It is powered by Snapdragon 865 SoC and the Adreno 650 GPU coupled with  12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage. The device features a 6.55-inch flat fluid AMOLED display with 1,080×2,400 pixels of resolution and a 91.1 percent screen-to-body ratio. It offers a refresh rate of 120Hz, it also has support for HDR10+, 1,100 nits of peak brightness and a 240 Hz sampling rate.

A quad rear camera setup on the back of the OnePlus 8T includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS), a secondary 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor with a 123-degree field of view, a 5-megapixel macro lens and a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor. While on the front it has a 16-megapixel selfie camera.

In addition to this, the device packs a 4,500mAh battery and supports Warp Charge 65. It is claimed to fully charge the battery in 39 minutes, and almost 58% in just 15 minutes. The phone has a dual-end Type-C port design to offer support for up to 45W PD fast charge. Today, OnePlus is officially going to make the announcement of the unveiling of the OnePlus Nord CE 5G in India. The much-awaited smartphone is the successor to the OnePlus Nord N10 5G however its specs are derived from the first generation of the OnePlus Nord.  The CE in its name stands for Core Edition which indicates it would bring some additional specs. Alongside the handset, the company is also going to launch the OnePlus TV U series. Both the upcoming devices have long been rumoured and have also appeared a couple of times via leaks and other mediums on the internet.

What about the price of the OnePlus OnePlus Nord CE 5G and  OnePlus TV U series?

The company has not yet revealed nor hinted at the pricing of both the smartphone and the Smart TV. But as per a tipster the price of the Nord CE 5G will start at Rs 22,999 in India. He has further revealed the additional launch offers that include Rs 1,000 off to the HDFC Bank customers. 

Moreover, the OnePlus TV U1S will come in three models 50-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch. Their prices are tipped to start at  Rs 37,999, Rs 45,999, and Rs 60,999, respectively. The expected launch offer includes a discount of Rs 2,000, Rs 3,000, and Rs 4,000, respectively.

What about the tech specs?

Speaking on the specifications, features, and other details, what we know so far is based on the leaked details. As per a recently leaked video of the OnePlus Nord CE 5G the device would be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 750 SoC. In addition to this, there will be an Always-on AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate featuring a single hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera. Previous leaks suggest that the handset will arrive in India in two colour options of Blue Void and Charcoal Ink.

Furthermore, the device is also said to come in three different configurations of 6GB RAM with 128GB storage, 8GB RAM with 128GB storage, and 12GB RAM with 256GB storage model.

Whereas the official teasers suggest that the OnePlus Nord CE 5 Will bring a hole-punch design display along with a 64-megapixel primary sensor at the back. Teasers also revealed that the phone would be 7.9mm thick and come with a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port as well as a microphone.

On the other hand, the OnePlus TV U series is expected to be available in India in three different variants with different sizes that will include 50-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch size models. According to a tipster the top variant will be incorporated with quad-speakers whereas the base versions will pack a dual-speaker setup. Additionally, all three models will be available in Ultra-HD (4K) resolution with HDR10+ support. These models will be running Android TV 10 out-of-the-box. Also, the OnePlus TV is said to be supported by built-in Chromecast, Multicast, Google Assistant, Alexa for voice control and OnePlay 2.0 with Live Channel.

According to leaks, there will be a 30W Dolby Audio system on the Television and these will be backed by 2GB RAM and 16Gb storage. For connectivity, there will be three HDMI ports, two USB ports, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC.

Indian financial services company Freecharge has launched a range of brand new features for its online payment platform to assist small and medium-sized businesses.

Freecharge began operations in August 2010 and is headquartered in Gurugram, Haryana in India. The company specializes in financial services, particularly with regards to savings, insurance, investment, loans, and payments.

The company gained a foothold in the competitive Indian financial services market by providing a platform that allowed customers to pay for utility bills and recharge mobile and broadband internet data quickly through its platform, which is far easier than going into the bank or a supermarket to do so.

Freecharge’s latest innovations are aimed at small and medium-sized businesses and make it easier for them to conduct their financial affairs on its digital payment platform. Among the new features to be launched are Paisa Plus, payment links, dynamic QR codes, a digital Khata book, and on-demand account settlement.

Paisa Plus is a handy feature for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) because it allows companies on Freecharge’s platform to issue digital gift cards to customers. These can be in the form of a discount offer or reward to regular customers.

Rewards programs are excellent for creating loyalty with customers and encouraging repeat business. They are rapidly growing in popularity online.

Another example is the Indian app StepSetGo, which rewards its customers with coins that can be redeemed for Amazon vouchers and other goodies. Payment links are also becoming increasingly important in a world full of social distancing, and many people are spending far more time at home than they used to. Freecharge’s digital Khata functionality allows its payment platform to play the role of the good old company Khata record book. Still, the information is more secure because it is safely stored beyond reach on Freecharge’s servers and backed up so it cannot be lost easily. For those unfamiliar, a Khata is traditionally used by merchants to store all the company’s financial transactions.

The great thing about a digitized Khata book is that customers can be added or removed quickly; it is far easier to sort through accounts and keep track of everything. On top of that, many functions can be automated. For example, reminders can be sent to customers with outstanding accounts, or you can flag customers that regularly pay on time and reward them.

Mi 11 Lite to launch in the Indian market on June 22

Last month Xiaomi’s executive teased the arrival of Mi 11 Lite for the Indian market. Today the company has officially announced the launch date for its upcoming smartphone. Mi 11 Lite is set to launch in India on June 22. Prior to its launch in the country, the smartphone was launched in China, however, it is not yet confirmed whether the company will bring the 4G or 5G model to the market.

According to the company Mi 11 Lite is scheduled to launch in India on June 22 at 12 noon. The launch event is not yet confirmed but the company is expected to host it online only.

In its previous tweet, Xiaomi India Marketing Lead Sumit Sonal shared the teaser of the upcoming smartphone in India. He also shared an image that shows a cemented brick floating on the water that also refers to the mentioned smartphone by Xiaomi.

Mi 11 Lite 4G specification and pricing

The device features a 6.55-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display with 1,080×2,400 pixels of resolution and 90Hz refresh rate support. The screen comes with H and offers DR10+ and Dolby Vision support 402ppi pixel density, 800 nits peak brightness with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The Mi 11 Lite 4G runs MIUI 12 on top of Android 11 and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G SoC. It offers up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. 

In terms of imaging, there is a triple camera set up on the rear panel that includes a 64-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.79 aperture. Further assisted by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.2 and a 5-megapixel tele macro camera with f/2.4 aperture. For taking photos and videos there is a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with an f/2.45 aperture.

For connectivity, Mi 11 Lite includes Wi-Fi, 4G, Bluetooth v5.1, NFC, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. The sensors on the phone include a proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, electronic compass, linear motor, IR Blaster and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. It comes with a 4,250mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging.

The pricing of the Mi 11 Lite starts at CNY 2,299 (approx Rs 26,266) for the base 8GB RAM with 128GB storage. The 8GB RAM with 256GB storage variant is priced at CNY 2,599 (approx Rs 29,696). The smartphone comes in Citrus Yellow, Mint Green, and Truffle Black colour options.

The Canon printers can load up to 30 sheets of photo paper and have support for wireless and mobile printing via the free Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY mobile app. These apps allow printing scanning images via mobile devices, as well as controlling printer settings and receiving device alerts. Whereas the PIXMA Cloud Link service allows users to connect their printers to social networks and cloud storage for remote printing and scanning.

In addition to this, the Canon PosterArtist Lite allows both professionals and home users to effortlessly create posters from a wide selection of 1,300 templates, photos and clipart. This software works on Windows operating system. Over that, the PIXMA G570 and PIXMA G670 also offer a hands-free experience via Smart Speakers and are compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon for voice-activated printing.

The price of the PIXMA G670 printer is set at Rs 24,801 and the PIXMA G570 can be purchased at Rs 18,789 in the country.

The Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300 is equipped with the LUCIA PRO pigment ink system and Crystal-fidelity digital image processing workflow that helps in retaining the highest image quality. It has a Canon’s L-COA processor to handle large image data and calculates the optimal ink droplet at fast speed, enabling high quality and high-speed printing. Whereas the Optimum Image Generating (OIG) System analyses and chooses the best ink mixture for accurate colour representation in print. Additionally, this printer offers 4,800×1,200 dpi print resolution with a 10-colour dye ink system.

On the other hand, Canon PIXMA PRO-200 offers high-quality printing with a unique 8-colour dye ink system to deliver 4,800×1,200 dpi print resolution. It also equips the  Optimum Image Generating (OIG) System. Moreover, both the printers come with the capability to handle thicker papers easily with a manual feed tray for straighter path feeding.

The printers also support printing of panoramic photos and custom border margins and also integrates the Canon Professional Print & Layout software that enables a professional screen-to-print workflow for precise layout control and soft-proofing. This allows users to customise media in both the driver and printer for the optimum print result. There is a media configuration tool on both Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300 and PIXMA PRO-200 for simplified media management for Canon and third-party media.

As for the pricing, the imagePROGRAF PRO-300 will be available at Rs 59,621 whereas PIXMA PRO-200 will come with a price tag of Rs 41,401.
