iBall mSLR Cobalt4 smartphone with interchangeable lens launched at Rs 8,499

The Indian smartphone manufacturer iBall has expanded its Cobalt series with the launch of mSLR Cobalt4. The company has priced the device for Rs 8,499 and offers lens mount and four lenses with it. The four lenses include a zoom lens with 8x zoom, a fisheye lens with a 175-180 degree viewing angle, a macro lens with 10x magnification and minimum object distance of 10-15mm, and a wide-angle lens with a 130-degree viewing angle. The firm will also be offering a free pouch and a cleaning cloth with the smartphone.

Speaking about the device, Sandeep Parasrampuria, Director, iBall said, “We are very excited with our newest launch which revolutionizes and redefines smartphones. With mSLR Cobalt4 the users shall be mesmerized on the Smartphone’s Camera with detachable lenses. The Multiple options of the lens shall snap great pictures and change the way photographs are captured on the smart phones! Its again heartening that we are the first in India to launch a product with this technology.”

Talking about the specifications, the iBall mSLR Cobalt4 flaunts a 5-inch qHD display with 960×540 pixels resolution. The dual SIM smartphone runs on Adnroid 4.4 KitKat operating system. Powering the smartphone is a 1.4 GHz octa-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. The internal storage of the device accounts to 8GB which can be expanded up to 32GB using microSD card.

The iBall mSLR Cobalt4 comes equipped with an 8.0-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and a 3.2-megapixel front facing camera for clicking selfies. The device packs in a 2,000 mAh battery and offers 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS as connectivity options.

The search engine giant Google has updated the Slides with Chromecast HDMI dongle support. The update will enable the users to wirelessly stream presentations to the bif screen.

In order to use this feature the users just need to open up a presentation in Google Slides and go near to the Chromecast device and just simply hit the cast button. The smartphone or tablet of the user will act as a remote control at the time of streaming the content. It will let the users to advance the slides, view speaker notes and stay on track with the built in timer.

The iOS users will aslo be able to use the Chromecast for presentations as its app for iPhone and iPad supports AirPlay. Google rolled out a material design update to Google Slides last year.

The domestic smartphone manufacturer Micromax has expanded its Canavs series with the addition of Canvas Hue 2. The company has not yet made any official statement about the device but it is available online with a price tag of Rs 11,736. As per the Mumbai based retailer Mahesh Telecom the device flaunts an aluminum body and comes in Black colour.

Talking about the specifications, the Micromax Canvas Hue 2 flaunts a 5 5-inch AMOLED display with 1280×720 pixels resolution. The device offers dual SIM functionality and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. The smartphone is powered by a 1.7 GHz octa-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. The internal storage of the device accounts to 16GB which can be expanded using microSD card.

The Micromax Canvas Hue 2 sports a 13.0-megapixel snapper with LED at the rear end and a 5.0-megapixel front facing camera for video calling. On the connectivity front the smartphone offers, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and packs in a 2,000 mAh battery.

Next time you visit Taj Mahal or the Qutub Minar, just check if you get access to free Wi-Fi over there. Yes, as per recent reports, the Bharat Sanchal Nagar Limited (BSNL) is investing Rs 7,000 crore for setting up Wi-Fi hotspots at different tourist spots across the country, and Taj Mahal and Qutub Minar could be among them.

Anupam Shrivasatva, Chairman and managing director of BSNL revealed this while speaking at one of the events and told reporters that Wi-Fi is an obvious choice for BSNL going forward.

So, how would BSNL be going forward with the implementation? The government  organisation would take help from its recently added partner in the project, QuadGen Wireless. Together, they will integrate 3G, 4G networks so that customer can be seamlessly transferred to Wi-Fi.

The idea is to get 2,500 Wi-Fi hotspots up and running by end of this financial year.

The new offer is named, ‘Five States, One Rate’ and it will be applicable starting from today; i.e. 11th June 2015. As part of this offer, Aircel customers in southern India will incur no incoming call charges while outgoing calls will be charged at 1 paise/second for both local and STD calls.

ZTE the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has launched yet another budget Android smartphone dubbed as Blade Qlux 4G for the Indian market. The smartphone comes with 4G support and will be exclusively available through Amazon at a price tag of Rs 4,999. The customers can purchase the device from the online retailer from 16 June, 2015.

The Blade Qlux 4G features a 4.5-inch IPS display with 854×480 pixels resolution. The smartphone comes with dual SIM functionality and run on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system which is upgradable to 5.0 Lollipop version with the Amigo UI running on top. Their earlier phones might not have done exceptionally in the market, but that couldn’t stop  Wickedleak from launching an upgrade to  its Wammy Note series; does the name ring a bell? The Indian smartphone manufacturer has announced Wammy Note 4, the successor to the Wammy Note 3.

The new device would be carrying 3GB RAM along with 4G LTE support. It is slated to launch on 15th June and the company has already being teasing the device on its official social media channels. The release of the Wammy Note 4 comes on the heels of the company’s last device, Wammy Titan 4, a handset rocking a 5 inch Full HD display, and a huge 5330mAh battery. Despite having powerful specs the battery is able to juice up the device for up to 4 days.

Wammy Note 4 will adopt an aggressive pricing strategy, just like its predecessors. The phone is likely to have the latest 64 bit processor and Wickedleak has revealed in the teasers that it will support TD-LTE
and FDD-LTE 4G LTE bands. Support for both LTE technologies is important considering the highly diversified spectrums being held by Indian 4G operators. More details regarding the pricing, availability

The social networking giant Facebook has revealed that its Messenger app for Android has crossed 1 billion downloads. The VP, product Messaging David Marcus has shared a screen shot of the same on Facebook.

The number of downloads registered in the Google Play store have crossed the 1 billion mark. It took a complete year for the app to cross this milestone, last year during the same time it had 500 million downloads. The Facebook Messenger is the third app of the company to achieve 1 billion downloads.

Of late Facebook is also focusing a lot on its Messenger app. The social networking giant has introduced new features like video calling, location sharing via messages and information about the first time message senders. These updates are introduced in order to enhance the user experience.

Videocon Mobiles has expanded its product portfolio with the launch of Infinium Z51 Nova smartphone. The smartphone comes with dual SIM capability and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. The smartphones features a 5-inch display with 854×480 pixels resolution.

Powering the device is a 1.2 1.2 GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. The inbuilt storage of the device accounts to 8GB which can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card. The Infinium Z51 Nova sports a 5.0-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2.0-megapixel secondary camera. On the connectivity front the smartphone offers, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and houses a 2,000 mAh battery.

The micro blogging site Twitter is all set to smoothen out the process of conversation for the users. Twitter has now rolled out certain changes in the format of how the conversations will be displayed on the Twitter page for easy follow up.

 

Talking about the change, in its official blog Akarshan Kumar, Product Manager, Twitter stated, “On the Tweet page, Tweets that are part of a conversation are connected by a line. If you want to see more of the replies to a specific Tweet within a conversation you can click ‘View other replies’,”.

 

So, this means that a conversation surrounding a tweet will be grouped together by line, highlighting the tweets and replies. One will also be able to view the full conversation by simply clicking on a “View other replies” option in order to expand the complete conversation.

 

This new update from Twitter will be made available for the web first the n followed by mobile devices.

POCKET is an amazing and modern application founded by Nate Weiner. This app can be a perfect mobile companion for travellers and can also be operated when offline. Pocket is very useful for saving articles, videos and other web content for future. One can have a beautiful and an optimized easy-to-view experience while using this astounding app.

UI and Features

The Pocket app is a simple and user friendly software. As soon as one downloads and install this app, they can easily see a list of things on the left side of the screen. This contains categories such as highlights, my list, tags, favourites, archive, inbox and premium. Under the my list option, the user will be able to see their saved articles, videos, images and more.

On the right-hand side of the screen, the user will be able to see a list, which contains options such as bulk edit, refresh, settings and help. In the middle of the application screen, the user have the search option from where they can directly search for whatever they want to read or get the items from the saved files. Once the user opens the file, the user will be able to see various options at the top of the screen, which includes back, item archived, item re-added, item favourited, item unfavourited, share and the setting.

As soon the user taps on the setting icon, they will be able to see more options, which includes switch to web view, refresh, delete, display settings etc. A feature worth mentioning is the Listen feature in this app. So what does the Listen feature do? The function of the Listen feature is that the app will play back the article and the other web content. This will enable the user to hear the articles rather than reading them.

Pocket is available on various platforms such as iOS, Chrome, Android, Windows Phone et al. We tested this app on Android OS. Pocket can also save embedded video in any article to watch them inline, but for this feature to work in Pocket, one has to be online. Pocket can also send articles to other people via email or even directly to other Pocket users. Another interesting thing is that for easier browsing, Pocket can tag articles. Under the Display setting, this application can choose from two different fonts, multiple font sizes and three different colour palettes, which include black on white, white on black and sepia.

Ease of Use                   

Pocket app is very easy to download and install, it just took us a less than a minute for it to set up on our mobile phone. Over here, we can store unlimited articles, videos and other web content in one place. There are three full-screen reading modes for Day and Night. Pocket even improves the reading experience by stripping out extraneous formatting and making the article look nice.

Pocket users can easily share anything with anyone via Facebook, Twitter etc. One can also search for files and browse through. The Listen feature is very easy to operate and this feature also helps those who are not in a mood to read.

Verdict

There is no charge to procure the Pocket app and Android users can easily download it on their mobile phones through the Play Store. The pros of this app are that this application is freely available on all mobile operating systems and it is very easy to use. The con is that some restricted video content can’t be played in the application. Overall, It’s an excellent app and we think you should try it too.
