There are plenty of audio players in the market when it comes to surround sound but very few can actually deliver good resonance. Sony is one of them and recently they handed us the Sony HT-A9 with SW5 surround sound system for review. We tested them out and this is what we could make of the new-age surround sound system. Sony HT-A9 with SW5 surround sound system: Design Okay, so we need to make it clear, the Sony HT-A9 is a four-speaker surround sound system that you can buy without the sub-woofer. So, in our case we got the SW5 sub-woofer to test with the wireless speakers, which will cost you extra. Out of the box, the Sony HT-A9 are regular cylindrical speakers which look modern dressed in greyish white. These come with a small control box that connects to the TV using HDMI and then all the speakers connect to it wirelessly. Each speaker has mesh in front that hides an up-firing speaker, a tweeter, an X-balanced woofer and dual microphones. Mics are there in case you want to control the television with your voice. Sony HT-A9 bottom Each speaker needs to connect to a power outlet with a wire, so you need to have a power point around the speakers. The speakers can be wall-mounted as well as kept on a table. The power input, power and connect buttons can be found at the bottom of each speaker. Sony HT-A9 with SW5 surround sound system: Performance Setting the Sony HT-A9 is very easy and in 5-10 minutes you are up and running. We placed them in a large hall and the sound is bombastic. We loved every bit of it and you get the perfect surround sound in a wide area. The surround only suffers if you are too close to the front speakers. Otherwise, as said the area of the surround sound is quite large. To be honest, the thump and bass these four surround speakers make on their own is very good. You really do not need the extra sub-woofer in the form of SW5. However, add that to the mix and you get even punchier bass and great movie effects value. We saw a lot of TV shows, movies on Netflix and YouTube Videos. The experience was superb, as these also are tuned by Dolby Atmos. Sony-HT-A9-mesh To access Google assistant using the Sony speakers, you would need to download and add the speakers to Google Home App with a compatible smart speaker. So in a way, these speakers become an extension to the smart speaker you already own. All in all, we quite liked what these speakers had to put out. You get excellent highs and mid, and voice audio is crystal clear. Verdict If you are looking for a theatre-like surround sound in your living room or small home theatre setup the combo can really work for you. If you can afford to shell out Rs 1,69,990 plus extra for the sub-woofer, Sony has got the best for you ready to be shipped giving you perfect surround sound. Oppo A16e has officially debuted in India today. The new smartphone is a scaled-down version of last year’s Oppo A16. The Oppo A16e is listed with specifications on the Oppo India website. It features a water drop-style display notch and comes with an IPX4 splash-resistant design.

The Chinese company has not made any special announcement on the arrival of its new budget smartphone Oppo A16e. It has simply listed the handset on its official website in India which showcases its specifications. However, pricing and availability information has yet to be released. As per the official website in the country, the phone is available in 3GB RAM with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB configurations. As a result, Xbox Game Pass subscriptions will be reduced in price. According to the announcement, the updated pricing will now cost 28% less. The new pricing will be applicable to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, Xbox Console Game Pass, and Xbox Game Pass Gold as of April 1, making the gaming subscription service more accessible and affordable in India. As per the company Starting March 21, it will notify customers that the price of Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold in India will be adjusted beginning in April. Microsoft stated, “We regularly evaluate the price of Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold at a local level to best serve customers in each country. These price adjustments were informed and based on local market conditions in each country. This is simply a continuation of the price adjustments we made in select countries late last year.” Xbox Game Pass Ultimate includes Xbox Live Gold, the most advanced multiplayer network, over 100 high-quality games for console and PC, and an EA Play membership. A one-month subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate was previously available for Rs 699, which has now been reduced by Rs 200. It is now available for Rs 499. Our verdict

The iQoo Z6 features a slightly larger FHD+ display, but Xiaomi offers an AMOLED display. Both phones use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC, however, Redmi has higher RAM and storage choices than iQoo. In terms of optics, the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ is likewise a cut above. The gadget has a 108MP triple rear camera setup, whereas the iQoo Z6 5G has a 64MP triple back camera system.  Both devices share the same selfie camera. In terms of battery capacity, both competitors have comparable capacities, however Redmi outperforms iQoo with 67W fast charging technology. The iQoo Z6 5G is a less expensive choice, but considering the high-end features offered by the Redmi, it is not asking for much. So, if you want a feature-packed smartphone, our recommendation is the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G, but if your budget is limited, the iQoo Z6 5G is also a good option. UPI Lite will make its debut in India for making small-value transactions offline
National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) will soon launch UPI Lite in India soon. It is an on-device wallet alternative for Unified Payments Interface (UPI) customers which will be in line with the central bank’s paradigm. UPI Lite will enable small-value transactions in offline mode. This platform is supposed to provide a superior user experience by allowing for speedier near-real-time small value payments, an uncluttered bank statement for the user, and a reduction in the burden on the member bank’s main banking system. The news comes by way of a circular circulated to member banks by NPCI. Those who are unaware The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) created a Framework for facilitating small value digital payments in offline mode. For UPI users, NPCI has created the “UPI Lite – On-Device wallet” (“UPI Lite”) capability (User). UPI Lite will process transactions in near offline mode, i.e. debit offline and credit online, in phase one, while in phase two, UPI Lite would process transactions in complete offline mode, i.e. debit and credit both offline. Users will be able to transfer funds from their bank account to UPI Lite once this feature is activated. Users of UPI applications will be able to enable UPI Lite for performing small-value transactions offline. A UPI App user would have the option to enable UPI Lite, also known as “On-Device wallet,” on her/his UPI App. After enabling it, the User can transfer funds from her/his bank account to it. Such monies shall be held by the User’s bank in an escrow / pool / designated account, and such balance shall be held on-device in the User’s UPI App’s common library (CL). Initially, only debits from UPI Lite balances are authorised, and all credits to UPI Lite (including reimbursements, etc.) are handled online in the User’s bank account held in the bank’s core banking system. The maximum value of a UPI Lite payment transaction is Rs.200/-. At any point in time, the total limit of UPI Lite balance for an “On-device wallet” shall be 2,000/-. Replenishment of money in UPI Lite will be permitted only in online mode with additional factor authentication (AFA) or via UPI AutoPay, which the User has enrolled in online mode with AFA. Also, the UPI Lite balance shall be non-interest bearing. Furthermore, depending on the number of UPI Apps used by the User to access one specified bank account, the User may have numerous such UPI Lite on-device balances. Furthermore, users can enable, disable, and top up the UPI Lite at any time (only in online mode), and financial transfers between the UPI Lite and the User’s bank account will be performed in real-time. Russian software developers are planning to develop a picture-sharing app similar to Instagram. which was barred by regulators last week. According to its website, the new service, known as Rossgram, will start on March 28 and will include extra features such as crowdsourcing and paid access to specific material. The Russian tech giants have been working on a replacement of Instagram amid war by launching Rossgram a photo-sharing app after Russian state communications regulator Roskomnadzor blocked access to Instagram. Rossgram’s colour palette and layout will be quite similar to Instagram, according to a snapshot published by Zobov on Vkontakte. Meta did not react promptly to a request for comment on Rossgram’s design. Russia has been developing indigenous technologies in recent months, notably the AYYA T1 cellphones created by state company Rostec. Last week, Meta Platforms announced that social media users in Ukraine will be able to post remarks like “Death to the Russian invaders.” “My partner Kirill Filimonov and our group of developers were already prepared for this turn of events and decided not to miss the opportunity to create a Russian analogue of a popular social network beloved by our compatriots,” the initiative’s public relations director, Alexander Zobov, wrote on the social network VKontakte. The Playgo Dualpods wireless earbuds were just released in India. The gadget is presently available for Rs 1,799 on e-commerce sites like Amazon, Flipkart, and PLAY’s own website. After using the device for a few weeks, we’re ready to share our thoughts on the PLAYGO DUALPODS, so read on for a thorough review.

First and foremost, the Playgo Dualpods is nicely packaged. These TWS earbuds are available in a variety of colours, including Teal Green. It comes with a rectangular-shaped case with a matte finish that looks nice, and the plastic quality appears to be decent.  Playgo Dualpods Review: Design The earphones are housed in the charging case, which is made of transparent plastic and rubber. A USB Type C charging connector is located at the bottom of the charging case. The in-ear shape of the earbuds allows them to fit securely in the ears. Playgo Dualpods Review: Design The buds come with silicone ear tips that can be adjusted, and three extra pairs are included for replacement. With the new TWS, users may enjoy a full wifi experience and move freely while working from home/office, at the gym, or just taking a walk.

The Playgo Dualpods is equipped with Dual 6mm Enhanced Bass Extra Loud (EBEL) drivers for maximum performance. Furthermore, the earbuds have high-quality microphones for clear calls and conversation. The dual drivers onboard speakers provide sonic effects and thump to the entire listening experience. While on the phone or listening to music, the tight-fitting provides great noise suppression.  Overall, the listening experience is enjoyable. Furthermore, the sound is properly balanced, with neither too much nor too little volume. The earbuds also support the AAC wireless audio codec, which is available on some Android phones. In terms of connectivity, the Playgo Dualpods supports Bluetooth 5.2 for rapid connections with 100ms latency. This device also has a connection range of up to 10 metres. In terms of connectivity, we experienced difficulty connecting the gadget to our smartphones. It took a very long time to connect, which is really inconvenient for people who are using an older version of Android handsets.  Playgo Dualpods Review: Performance However, we had no issue connecting the Playgo Dualpods to smartphones running the most recent operating system. The same is true with laptops and tablets. Furthermore, the TWS earbuds cannot be paired with two devices at the same time, so you must first disconnect the headphones from your smartphone before pairing them to your tablet or laptop. As a result, those who use more than one device might consider different possibilities. TWS earbuds are both smart and touch-sensitive. We were quite dissatisfied with the touch controls and had difficulty utilising them because the touch panel would not respond even after several taps. Playgo Dualpods Review: Performance We also had no issue receiving calls because the audio at both ends was extremely clear. These include compatibility for voice assistants like Google Assistant, Siri, and Alexa, which may let them take or reject calls, change/play/pause a soundtrack, and even manage the volume. Playgo Dualpods Review: Performance The device can be used for up to 30 hours with the charging case and for 5 hours on a single charge, according to the manufacturer. It also has a USB Type-C charging connection for faster charging. The Playgo Dualpods lasted more than 4 hours at full volume for us, but we are especially pleased that the device can be charged through a USB Type-C port. Using a 10W charger, they take roughly 1.5 hours to charge from zero to 100 percent.

Verdict

We have been using the Playgo Dualpods earbuds for many weeks and have been quite satisfied with the design and comfort of the TWS. The sound quality is also excellent; the only issue we had was with the touch controls and connection. However, we were particularly impressed by the fact that they charge through a USB Type-C port. The pricier TWS provides greater capabilities, but the Playgo Dualpods are very decent for the price. Pros

What to expect?

There’s little doubt about what Samsung will speak about when it launches its next set of smartphones today. Samsung has dubbed its unveiling as the Awesome Galaxy A Event – no pressure living up to that euphemism — which means the Galaxy A phones will be available in 2022. Although Samsung hasn’t unveiled the future smartphones, we may expect successors to the Galaxy A52 and A72. The upcoming Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A73 are going to contain 5G capability. The Samsung Galaxy A73 5G and Galaxy A53 5G are expected to ship with Android 12-based One UI 4. The Galaxy A73 5G is said to have a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, while the Galaxy A53 5G is said to have a 6.52-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G SoC is expected to power the A73, while the Exynos 1200 SoC is expected to power the A53. Both reported smartphones are said to have quad back cameras. According to reports, the Galaxy A73 5G will contain a 108-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel secondary sensor, and 8-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensors. The Samsung Galaxy A53 5G, on the other hand, is believed to include a 64-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel secondary sensor, and two 5-megapixel sensors. Aside from that, the devices are reported to have 5,000mAh batteries and the capacity to charge at a rate of 25W. A Galaxy A33 phone might possibly be on the way since the speculated device emerged in a leak earlier this week. Like both the above-mentioned smartphones Galaxy A53, would be a replacement for Samsung’s Galaxy A32, which was introduced last year and had many of the same features. The Redmi 10C is available in two configurations: 4GB RAM with 64GB storage and 4GB RAM with 128GB storage, both priced at N78,000 (about Rs 14,300) and N87,000 (roughly Rs 16,000). The phone is available in black, blue, and green colour variants and is currently available in Nigeria through select retailers such as Slot.ng.
