Realme Narzo series to get unveiled on April 21 after the Indian Government allowed to resume sale of non-essential items in India

The Chinese smartphone company is all set to bring new smartphones to India. The company is planning to launch the all-new Narzo series that is going to include Narzo 10 and Narzo 10A smartphones. The company has now officially confirmed the launch date for the series. which is April 21. Recently the company delayed the release of the device due to lockdown, but now the company will take the support of the online launch to unveil the devices.

Recently, the Indian government issued an order allowing the commencement of the sale of all the electronics gadgets and smartphones starting April 20. The company immediately announced the official launch date for the Narzo series for the Indian market.

Realme’s CEO Madhav Sheth on Friday took to Twitter to announce that on April 21 the company will unveil the Realme Narzo series. To introduce the series the company will be hosting an online event that will begin at 12.30 pm IST. The CEO’s tweet reads, “Guys, here comes the news that you all have been waiting for! #realmeNarzo is back, so get ready to #FeelThePower! Watch the online video streaming live on 21st April at 12:30PM”

According to some reports, the Realme Narzo 10 is said to be a rebranded variant of Realme 6i. Whereas the Narzo 10A is likely to be another variant of Realme C3 that was launched in Thailand and Indonesia. So, this might again be an eyewash by the company to sell watered-down or not-up-to-the-mark stocks in India.

Realme Narzo series

Though, Realme is teasing its upcoming series as the devices for the Gen Z many beg to differ. The company has also confirmed some of the key specifications of the Realme Narzo 10. It is going to feature a quad rear camera setup that is going to include a 48-megapixel sensor. As per the official teasers released by the company, the device has been seen showcasing the vertically placed quad camera set up on the back.

Also, it is going to pack a 5,000mAh battery with fast charging support. The Mobile will come with a 6.5-inch display with 89.8% screen-to-body ratio and a 3.5mm headphone jack. According to some leaks Realme Narzo 10 is expected to arrive with a 6.5-inch HD+display with 720×1,600 pixels of resolution. It is likely to be powered by a MediaTek Helio G80 processor, which could be a deal-breaker for many consumers.

As said, it is said to feature a quad-camera setup on the back, with a 48-megapixel primary sensor and a 16-megapixel selfie camera on the front. Some reports do suggest that Realme Narzo 10A is expected to draw its power from MediaTek Helio G70 chipset. It is said to sport a triple rear camera setup and a 6.5-inch HD+ display screen. It is likely to house a 5,000mAh battery. Will this sell in the Indian market? Only time will tell.

Soon WhatsApp will allow more than 4 participants in a group call to take on other video calling apps

The popular social media app Whatsapp comes with a calling and video calling feature for free. At the moment both the features only allow one person to join a chat session so that you can have face to face conversation when you are stuck in a city far from your family and friends for free. It makes use of the phone’s internet connection so you don’t have to worry about expensive calling charges. But now the situation is different as most of the countries in the world have implemented lockdown or have asked its citizens to stay at home in view of the coronavirus pandemic. Due to health concerns the company has also asked its employees to take work from home instead of coming to the office. So in this condition, Whatsapp is losing its popularity as many apps have emerged as saviours for the public in the time of difficulty offering group video calling feature whereas at the moment WhatsApp only offers group chatting feature. Now it seems the company has taken this seriously and is working on its group video calling feature.

Soon the Facebook owned chatting app will be rolling out a group video calling feature on its platform which will allow more than four users who can join a video chat. A report has emerged on the web to prove that the developers seem to be working on the much-needed feature when everyone is practising social distancing to contain the spread of the COVID-19.

According to a recent report by WABetainfo currently, the group calling feature is under development which has been identified in the WhatsApp v2.20.128 beta and WhatsApp v2.20.129 for the Android platform. The report says the new Group Call Limit is under development in order to make it bugs free. The company is planning to extend the limit of participants in a group call in the next updates.

At the moment, some users are experiencing issues to make group calls using this update in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.20.128. It is noticed that this might happen because people have not updated to the latest version of the app.

According to the report, “participants must use the latest WhatsApp version to be able to participate in a group call having the new limit. Actually, nobody knows what will be the new limit, but surely more than 5 participants in a group call. There is any release date available, but if WhatsApp wants to force people to update in order to call more than 4 people (including you), it means the feature might be rolled out soon.”

It has now come out with the new password options, Zoom’s random meeting ID generator, and other Zoom platform developments. Let’s take a quick look at what new features Zoom has introduced to safeguard its users form facing any vulnerabilities while participating in virtual meetings or webinars.

Password requirements: For meetings and webinars, account owners and admins can now configure minimum meeting password requirements to adjust the minimum length and require letters, numbers, and special characters, or allow only numeric passwords. All free Basic accounts will have the alphanumeric option on by default.

Random meeting IDs: One-time randomly generated meetings IDs for newly scheduled meetings and webinars will be 11 digits instead of nine. Your Personal Meeting ID (PMI) will remain the same.

Cloud recordings: Password protection for shared cloud recordings is now on by default for all accounts. “We’ve also enhanced the complexity of passwords on your cloud recordings. Existing shared recordings are not affected,” as per the official blog post.

Samsung Galaxy M31 review: The big-battery wonder

Samsung Galaxy M31 has a massive 6,000mAh battery and it sports a 64MP primary sensor. Getting these two in the budget segment seems like a good deal already. But how good is it really? We spent a few days with Samsung Galaxy M31 and here’s our review of the smartphone:

Samsung Galaxy M31 design and display

When you look at the Samsung Galaxy M31, you would certainly be reminded of the Galaxy M30s smartphone. Both the handsets do have a lot in common in terms of the design. To begin with, both Samsung Galaxy M31 and Galaxy M30s sport 6.4-inch displays and come with waterdrop-shaped notches on the top of their screens. Both also have a plastic built, but then, that’s common in all smartphones in Samsung’s M series.

The bezels that outline the Infinity-U display of the smartphone is not exactly very thin and the chin at the bottom is thicker than the other three. The right edge of the smartphone has the power and volume rocker keys sandwiched on it while the left one has the SIM tray. The top edge has the secondary microphone while the bottom has the 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port, speaker grille and microphone on it.

Samsung Galaxy M31 5

Flip over and you will see the back panel of Samsung Galaxy M31. The rear panel has the fingerprint scanner in the centre, a quad-camera setup that also houses the LED flash and the Samsung branding. It is worth mentioning that the smartphone has slightly curved sides and that actually helps with the grip and one-handed usage of the device.
Samsung Galaxy M31 is available in two colour options — Space Black and Ocean Blue — and the handset that we got for review was dressed in Black.

To sum it up, we would say that while the look and feel of Samsung Galaxy M31 may be similar to that of other smartphones in the company’s Galaxy M series, but then, the handset is elegant-looking.

Coming to the 6.4-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display of the smartphone, it was one among the pros of the device. The colours it projected were accurate and they stayed consistent at different viewing angles. The images were sharp and clear and the experience of watching videos was also a smooth one. The smartphone also scored well in terms of sunlight readability. It is worth adding that Samsung has added Corning’s Gorilla Glass on top of the handset’s display for protection.

Samsung Galaxy M31 performance and cameras

Before we begin speaking about the performance and cameras of Samsung Galaxy M31, we’ll take a minute to talk about the rest of its specifications. The smartphone is powered by Exynos 9611 octa-core processor clubbed with Mali-G72 GPU that takes care of graphics. The smartphone comes with 6GB of RAM and is available in two storage options — 64GB and 128GB that are priced at Rs 15,999 and Rs 16,999 respectively. Right now, Samsung is offering a discount of Rs 1,000, so you can actually buy the 64GB storage version for Rs 14,999 and the 128GB storage variant for Rs 15,999.

Samsung Galaxy M31 1

Users also have the option of adding a microSD card of up to 512GB, to expand the memory further. Samsung Galaxy M31 runs Android 10 skinned with OneUI 2.0, which gets its own share of customizations and tweaks. For instance, you will find features like Dark Mode, Focus Mode, Parental Controls and Digital Wellbeing on the phone. The smartphone has a considerable amount of bloatware and it comes with several pre-installed apps like Netflix, Candy Crush Saga, Facebook, Helo, Likee, Solitaire Infinite, etc. There is also the My Galaxy app which belongs to Samsung’s own suite and sends an annoying number of notifications.

While the design and the display were the pros of the smartphone, the same cannot be said about the performance of Samsung Galaxy M31. It was far from being flawless. A very weird problem we encountered with the device was that apps take unusually long to download. When we were setting up the device, it took multiple attempts on our part and hours to update Google‘s suite of apps. After that, installing any app on the device took way longer than it does on most other phones. To make sure that the problem wasn’t arising because of our Wi-Fi connection, we disconnected the smartphone from it and tried using 4G instead. However, that did not help too. Also, we tried downloading a number of apps on other devices connected with our Wi-Fi network at the same time and we encountered no problem with them.

Having said that, we did not encounter any lag while launching or switching between apps on the device. Thanks to the 6GB RAM of the device, multitasking was not an issue too.

We tried gaming on the smartphone too. We played some light games like Alto’s Odessey and then we moved on to some graphic-hungry ones like Asphalt 9: Legends. Needless to say, we didn’t encounter any problems while playing games like Alto’s Odessey. However, the experience wasn’t as smooth with Asphalt 9. Although the frames didn’t drop and the game ran perfectly, but the device started heating up just after 15 minutes of gameplay. This is definitely one of the issues that we encountered with the handset.

Coming to the fingerprint scanner of the smartphone, it worked well at all times, even when our finger was slightly moist. The facial unlock was decent too.

One of the key highlights of the smartphone is its massive 6,000mAh battery. While this does make the device a little heavy, it is extremely useful to have a battery as big as that. Even with heavy usage that involved hours on social media apps, watching videos on YouTube and Netflix, clicking pictures and listening to music, the battery of the smartphone lasted for almost two entire days. Samsung has also packed a 15W charger with the handset, so it won’t take too long for you to charge the smartphone.

Now, let’s finally talk about the cameras of Samsung Galaxy M31. The device sports a quad-camera setup that comes with a 64MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, a 5MP depth sensor and a 5MP macro lens. For selfies, there is a 32MP front-facing snapper.
The photos that we took using the primary camera of the smartphone turned out to be great. The colours were bright and vibrant and they had a good amount of details too. By default, the images from this camera lens will be saved in 16MP shots. However, you can change this to full resolution if you wish to. The images taken the 64MP primary camera remain consistent in various lighting conditions.

While switching to the wide-angle camera does include a lot more area in the image, the quality of the image does go down as compared to the primary camera. Zoomed-in shots lack details and at times, they didn’t match up in terms of quality too. The results were sort of inconsistent with lenses other than the primary sensor.

In dimly lit areas, all sensors apart from the 64MP one take long to focus. Some wide-angle and zoomed-in shots that were taken in dimly lit areas had noise closer to the edges too. The Night Mode helps with this, but not tremendously.

Coming to the selfies taken with the 32MP front-facing snapper, most of them turned out fine in well-lit conditions, but their quality did drop in areas that were dimly lit.

Verdict

At a starting price of Rs 15,999, there are a fair number of reasons to buy the Samsung Galaxy M31. These include its design, the vibrant display, the long-lasting battery and the primary camera. However, the cons include the heating issue and a few software glitches that we mentioned earlier. We are sure those will be taken care of in the next OS update. The performance of the other three lenses in the camera module was inconsistent, so that is something to be noted before making the purchase. At a price of Rs 15,999, Samsung Galaxy M31 will not disappoint, provided the cons we mentioned are not deal-breakers for you.

Pros

  • Vibrant display
  • Lasting batter
  • Primary camera

Cons

  • Heats up during gaming
  • Software glitches

Apple AirPods Pro ear tips replacement now available on its online store

Apple has now introduced a choice of small, medium, and large silicone ear tips for your AirPods Pro earbuds in order to deliver best sound quality and superior noise cancellation. Each pair of the AirPods ear tips replacement comes with a price tag of $7.99 (approx. Rs 614). Your ear tips should make a good seal with your ear canal. When the fit is right, you experience better noise cancellation, and music has a rich bass sound.

Mind you! The medium size ear tip comes already attached with Apple AirPods Pro earbuds. If you can’t get a good seal, try adjusting the AirPod or switch to a larger ear tip. If the ear tip feels too large in your ear or is uncomfortable, try a smaller ear tip, as revealed by the tech giant.

However, before purchasing the AirPods Pro ear tips replacement via Apple Online Store, try the Ear Tip Fit Test to ensure that you’re getting the comfortable fit with a good seal. All you need to do is that with your AirPods Pro in your ears, go to Settings > Bluetooth on your iOS device. Now, tap the info button next to your AirPods in the list of devices. Select Ear Tip Fit Test. If you don’t see the Ear Tip Fit Test, make sure that you have iOS (or iPadOS) version 13.2 or later. Tap Continue, then tap the Play button.

After following these steps, try adjusting your AirPods Pro and testing again if the test suggests adjusting or trying a different ear tip. Then try a different size. You might need different sizes for your left and right ears.

Also, removing and attaching ear tips are not a hassle. In order to remove an ear tip, pull firmly with your fingers at the base of the ear tip, where the ear tip is attached to the AirPod. If you need to attach an ear tip, simply align the ear tip with the oval-shaped connector on the AirPod and push it onto the connector until you hear it click into place.

Our Take

Like we mentioned earlier also that the new iPhone SE is an upgraded variant of iPhone 8. It comes with a similar form factor aluminium and glass body with a 4.7-inch Retina HD display. The company is using the same Bionic A13 chip which is found on the iPhone 11 series making it more powerful. The company has brought it as the most cost-effective and the cheapest iPhone yet.

With the faster Bionic A13 processor it can also record 4K videos. Also, it comes with better video recording capabilities, portrait mode, wireless charging and Touch ID. If a smaller screen size appeals to you and you were also planning to buy a new iPhone, but somehow your pocket did not allow then you can go for the new iPhone SE 2020 model.

Apple becomes top most web phishing victim in Q1 2020

0

As people are spending more time on their mobile phones and laptops to stay connected during the Coronavirus pandemic, cybercriminals are utilising this period to carry out phishing attempts. A Brand Phishing Report for Q1 2020 by Check Point Research (CPR) has revealed that Apple was the most imitated brand, rising from 7th place in Q4 of 2019 to the top spot.

According to the research by CPR, “This was due in part to the anticipated launch of the new Apple Watch, with criminals exploiting the online buzz to launch several credential theft attempts.”

As web phishing was the most prominent vector with 59%, Netflix came on second spot after Apple reaching the top position. PayPal and eBay were on 3rd and 4th spot, respectively.

Furthermore, in Q1 Mobile Phishing was the second most common attack vector compared to Q4 of 2019 where it ranked in third place. This may be due to the Coronavirus pandemic which has caused people to rely more on their mobile phones for information and work.

In Mobile Phishing, the top position was retained by Netflix followed by Apple, WhatsApp and Chase. These brands have gained popularity due to an increase in the number of people working from home as a result of the Coronavirus. The researchers showed that in February, an attacker was trying to imitate Netflix services using fraudulent domain (netflix-pagos\.com).

In February again, analysts at CPR noticed that a URL, mail\.whatsapp\.vvipx9\.com/login.php, is presenting a fraudulent WhatsApp web login page in Indonesian language requesting Facebook credentials in order to connect.

Besides this, during this quarter Counter Point team also noticed dozens of detections of fraudulent websites trying to imitate login pages of banks. According to the report, “Such websites, as the one below, is trying to steal Chase Bank login credentials and listed under the address chasecovid19s\.com/home/myaccount/access\.php which was first active in March 2020 and registered under the IP – 23.229.221.103, located in United States.”

Asserting that phishing continues to be a key weapon in cyber-criminals’ arsenals to try and trick users, researchers at Check Point said that the total number of brand phishing detections remains stable compared to the last quarter of 2019.

In order to avoid falling victim to these scam attempts, the report by Counter Point Research revealed that one should verify if they are using or ordering from an authentic website. One should refrain from clicking on promotional links in emails, and instead Google your desired retailer and click the link from the Google results page. For instance: An 80% discount on the new iPhone is usually not a reliable or trustworthy purchase opportunity.

Motorola Razr to go on sale in India on May 6, sale date rescheduled due to extended lockdown

Recently, the Indian government extended the nationwide lockdown till May 3 because the number of cases in the country is on the rise. Unfortunately, the tech industry has taken a huge hit due to the coronavirus lockdown. Ultimately many companies had to cancel or reschedule their launches in the country and the sales of the products such as smartphones and other electronic gadgets have also been affected. The recently launched Motorola Razr was scheduled to go on sale in the country on April 15 that is today, but now the company has stretched out the sale date to May 6 due to the extended lockdown.

The Lenovo owned company has announced that it has delayed the sale of the Motorola Razr in India. The company has now given a tentative sale date of May 6.

“As you are aware of the outbreak of CoVID-19 has had a global impact, so Motorola would be delaying the sale of Motorola Razr in India.” the company stated.

After the official launch, the company had opened the pre-orders for the foldable device, which was to go on sale via Flipkart on April 2. Later on, after the Government imposed the lockdown in India the sale date was rescheduled to April 15. Now again the company has to hold off today’s sale and has now given an indefinite date for the sale that is May 6.

The company stated, “Due to the prevailing situation and extension of nationwide lockdown, sale of all non-essential products and services has been discontinued. In line with the government guidelines, Motorola razr will now go on sale after the revised lockdown period, starting May 6th 2020 (which was earlier scheduled for 15th April, 2020). We are hopeful that the situation will get better in the coming days and are working with our partners towards ensuring a smooth purchase experience for consumers across both online and offline channels, once the lockdown is lifted.”

To recall, after so much wait the company launched Motorola Razr in India on March 16 via an online event. Motorola launched the phone in a single 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage model at Rs 1,24,999 in the country. The device will be available in a sole Noir Black colour option.
