Most Indians don’t mind watching ads on Netflix, Amazon Prime for a more affordable deal: Report

0

Most of us know how addictive it is to watch content on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and other such similar services. While some of us are willing to pay for an ad-free experience so that we can enjoy videos more, a report has surfaced online that suggests that one in three Indians don’t really mind seeing ads on such platforms.

According to Asia OTT Research Report 2019 by Brightcove, around 25% of Indians who watch content on OTT (over-the-top video streaming) platforms want to pay nothing and watch ads while consuming content. Apart from this, it was also found that 14% of these people would be willing to pay a higher fee to be free from ads; and another 14% would like an option where they can customize their price and ad packages.

The report, conducted with online market research and data analytics firm YouGov, 35% of the respondents who are based in India are receptive towards the idea of a reduced monthly subscription package with which they can choose how they are served ads based on the pricing. Another 44% said that they will certainly sign up for it – meaning that almost 80% of the Indian respondents are open to a hybrid model of reduced price subscription.

The report surveyed 9,000 participants from across Asia which also included 1000 Indian consumers.

The intention of the study was to find out how customers these days are responding to OTT TV services and to find out which platforms and devices they prefer, what factors inspired them to sign up or unsubscribe, their payment preferences, and their acceptance for advertisements.

Thirty-five percent of viewers in the survey assured that they in a week they spend one to five hours watching content, whereas 21 percent said that they spend six to 10 hours per week watching content.

Twenty-two percent of customers said that they do not subscribe to OTT services because they merely do not have the time to watch.

Twenty-eight percent stated that the value proposition was simply not strong enough for them to subscribe, whereas 19 percent stated that content with active pay-TV services as a reason for not subscribing.

The report says that when the trial users switch to subscribers, accessibility on mobile, quality of experience on mobile, price, and content library are the four main factors which play a role in their withholding.

Twenty-nine percent of users who responded to the survey also said that most preferred platform to watch free movies online is streaming sites. Asian customers are mostly pleased to watch one to three ads.

With OTT, the consumer generally expects for more content and fewer ads, whereas 23 percent stated that they would prefer to pay a lower fee and watch some advertisements.

tvOS 13 developer beta version gets picture-in-picture mode

0

At the recently concluded Apple WWDC 2019, we got to see what features the Cupertino-based technology giant plans to roll out to its operating systems. While show stopper at the event was the iOS 13, the company also spoke about the additions that it is making it its tvOS for Apple TV. Now, after the event has been wrapped a few days back, the company has rolled out a feature to tvOS that it did not talk about – the picture-in-picture feature. According to a report, the new tvOS 13 developer beta version allows the users to use the picture-in-picture mode on Apple TV.

The report about the feature first surfaced on 9to5Mac and it says that while using the new picture-in-picture mode of the tvOS 13 developer beta, users can shrink any video which is currently being played in the corner of the app and continue to browse through content and other menus. In other words, the screen can be used for two things at a time, enabling the user to continue watching the content while also browsing through menus. However, it should be noted that currently, the picture-in-picture feature is available only in the tvOS 13 developer beta version and it will not be available for the public beta of tvOS till July 2019.

We feel that the feature is a useful one and with time, more apps and platforms are getting it. It is worth mentioning that WhatsApp has recently added this feature to the Android version of the app. While Android OS had already introduced this feature a long time ago, recently, YouTube for PC and mobile also got the picture-in-picture mode. Some third-party applications such as PlayStation Vue already have this feature and interestingly, it can even be used to watch up to four live channels simultaneously via Sony’s TV service.

The tvOS’s picture-in-picture feature is similar to the one on the iPad. The mode puts a floating small window with the content playing and meanwhile, you can surf for other content on the bigger screen. There are also options by which the small window can be maximized back to full-screen or completely exit the content.

As mentioned above, the picture-in-picture feature for the tvOS public beta won’t be coming out till July 2019. If you are not a part of the beta programme, you would have to wait for a few more weeks to find out what the feature works like.

It will no longer be required to use Bixby Vision or a third-party QR code-scanning app. Users can now just point the camera of the smartphone to any QR code and it will be scanned automatically.

To recall, Samsung launched the phablet last year in August. Among the key highlights of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 are its big display and the upgraded S Pen that comes with Bluetooth support. The handset is also the first from Samsung to come with a 4,000mAh battery. Samsung Galaxy Note 9 features a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity display that comes with Quad HD+ resolution.  Powered by Exynos 9810 processor, Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is available with 6GB RAM/128GB storage and 8GB RAM/512GB of storage. Apple to launch 5G-ready iPhones in 2020: Report

0

Cupertino based technology giant Apple rarely ever stays out of the news. The company is yet to launch the 2019 models of its iPhones, and reports about what it plans for 2020 have been surfacing online already. A new leak has surfaced online that talks about the 2020 models of iPhones. It says that Apple will be launching an iPhone in 2020 that will come with support for 5G-connectivity.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a popular and renowned Apple leakster, in 2020, the technology company will be launching three models of the iPhone. Out of the three, two of them will be the high-end iPhones. One of the two will sport a 5.4-inch display and the other will feature a 6.7-inch screen. These iPhones models will come with an OLED display. On the other hand, the third model of the iPhone will be a lower-end device with a 6.1-inch screen size, however, that too will come with an OLED display panel. Other than that, she also revealed that major difference between the three models of 2020 iPhones will be that the two high-end models will come with 5G modems in them while the affordable variant will have only the LTE support.

According to the reports, these 5G modems that will be installed in the high-end 2020 iPhones are expected to be provided by Qualcomm. Other than that, the report also says that 2021 onwards all the iPhones will come with 5G connectivity. Apple is also reportedly reducing its reliance on other external parts for the iPhones, so there is a possibility that it would want to make its own 5G modems by the year 2022 or 2023.

Apple has previously relied on Intel for providing it with the 5G modem, but the chipmaker failed to deliver them on time. The company has also been quoted saying that it wanted the best hardware for its iPhones and MediaTek’s 5G modems were not up to its standards. This only left one option for the company: Qualcomm. The American chipmaker has already developed a 5G-ready modem for smartphones named the Snapdragon X55 and some of the smartphones are even powered by it. So, despite all their differences and legal battles, Apple will have to rely on Qualcomm after all for the 5G modems.

A number of leaks about the 2019 iPhones have also surfaced online that suggest that an upcoming model will come with a square-camera placement on its back panel. It has also been reported that iPhones will pack a triple rear camera setup. As we will move closer to the launch, we will get more concrete reports about what to expect. So stay tuned with us to know more!

WhatsApp’s new feature will stop you from sending photos to wrong contacts

0

WhatsApp is one among the most popular instant messaging apps currently and its parent company Facebook keeps stuffing it with new and useful features in order to make users stick to it. Now, a report has surfaced online that claims that the app is all set to get a new feature that will improve the image sharing experience on it. With the new feature, the users will be made aware of who exactly they are sending the image on WhatsApp to while they are adding the caption.

However, we should mention that even now, the app shows the profile picture of the person to whom the image is being sent. This makes the new feature slightly redundant. But then, we are there will be those who will find the clear mention of the contact name to be helpful. The feature will definitely reduce the instances of sharing an image with the wrong contact on the app.

The report, which first surfaced on WABetaInfo, the new feature is being rolled out to WhatsApp beta for Android. So, if you own an Android smartphone and have enrolled for WhatsApp’s beta programme, then you can go and update your app to version number 2.19.173 or later to try out the new feature. It is not available on any update that was rolled out prior to the version number that has been mentioned. The feature is available for Individual as well as Group chats.

It is also speculated to come to the stable version of WhatsApp for Android soon. However, as of now, there is no word on when the feature will come to iOS, or whether it will make it to iPhones at all.

In a recent update, the instant messaging app expanded its sticker options by adding an Opi sticker pack designed by Colombian illustrator Oscar Ospina. The newly launched pack comes with Opi stickers with a white-coloured bear. The bear expresses different emotions in all stickers. We should also point that the new sticker pack is now available in the Android as well as iOS versions of the app. You can download them directly via the Stickers section on WhatsApp.

To recall, the Facebook-owned messaging platform got stickers only in October 2018. As of now, WhatsApp has 14 different sticker packs on its app that have been created by different artists. Apart from this, there are various other stickers that can be downloaded via Google Play Store and App Store. There are also apps that let users create their own stickers.

Qualcomm to launch two variants of its Snapdragon 865 flagship processor: Report

0

American chipmaker Qualcomm is known for producing the most powerful processors in the industry. This is particularly true for the flagship processors of the company including 2018’s Snapdragon 845 processor and this year’s Snapdragon 855 SoC. Although the company will be launching its next processor in 2020, reports about it have started pouring in already. The company’s 2020 flagship mobile processor will be the Snapdragon 865 SoC and it will succeed the current Snapdragon 855 processor. Today, some details about Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship mobile platform have been shared on Twitter.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC is not only expected to be better than its predecessor, but it is also speculated to surpass other 2020 processors when it comes to the performance. The details about the upcoming Qualcomm CPU were shared on Twitter by the popular tipster Roland Quandt.

Quandt’s tweet reads that the next generation of flagship processor by the America chipmaker will be called the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC (code SM8250). It further says that there will be two variants of the new CPU – Kona and Huracan. Both the variants of the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC will support LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.0. However, only one of them will come with the 5G modem inbuilt (the Snapdragon X55). But then, it has not been revealed which one among these two new variants of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC will have the 5G connectivity.

Although Quandt has said that the name Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC was what the “employees” at Qualcomm had named the upcoming CPUs, but the company itself hasn’t confirmed it yet. However, it is possible that the next CPU will be released in the year 2020.

Further speculations also suggest that the first smartphone to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC will be the Samsung Galaxy S11. Samsung had launched its Galaxy S10-series in February this year and it was among the first smartphones to come with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. So, if Samsung follows the same release cycle next year, we might see the launch of the upcoming Galaxy S11-series with Qualcomm’s chipset in February 2020.

In addition to this, Qualcomm has chosen Samsung to make its 2020 flagship CPUs rather than TSMC, which made its chips earlier. It is expected that Samsung will start making the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC at the end of 2019. Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC will be manufactured on the 7nm ultra-violet (EUV) process. According to Qualcomm, Samsung’s technology is more advanced than TSMC, and that is the reason it is opting for the former. Samsung’s last production of Qualcomm chips was the Snapdragon 820 and the Snapdragon 835 after which the companies took a break in 2018.

Realme X launch in India scheduled for July 17

Chinese smartphone brand Realme recently launched its flagship smartphone – Realme X – in China. A few days after the device was launched, Realme India’s CEO Madhav Sheath announced that the smartphone will not be coming to India till the second half of 2019. He also said that the Indian version of the smartphone will come with different specifications and features than the model that was launched in China. However, till now, there was no word on the exact launch date of the Realme X smartphone in India. Today, we have learnt from industry insiders that the flagship handset will be launched in India on July 17.

Interestingly, this falls just a day ahead of Redmi K20 Pro’s launch date in India, that is scheduled for July 18. The rivalry between these two companies is nothing new and these launch dates only make it fiercer. In a tweet that he had posted earlier, Sheth had said, “We shall try to bring it [Realme X] earlier, but with all our effort, we think we shall be only able to bring around [the] second half of the year.”

He had also added that the company will be getting the Naoto Fukasawa’s Realme X’s Onion and Garlic finish to the Indian market too. So even though the specifications will be different, the finish of the flagship smartphone will be the same as the Chinese counterparts. The CEO has also said that there will be a special variant of the Realme X that will be launched in India.

Realme X price

In China, the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage model of the Realme X smartphone costs CNY 1,499 (approximately Rs 15,100), and the 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant is priced at CNY 1,599 (approximately Rs 16,100). The 8GB RAM/128GB storage version of the Realme X bears a price tag of CNY 1,799 (approximately Rs 18,100). The price of the smartphone in India is expected to be similar to the Chinese counterparts of the device.

Realme X specifications

Realme X features a 6.53-inch Full-HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) AMOLED display that comes with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top. Powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 710 SoC, the smartphone has up to up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The device runs Android 9.0 Pie skinned with ColorOS 6 and it houses a 3,765mAh battery that has support for VOOC 3.0 fast charging.

For imaging duties, the Realme X sports a dual-rear camera setup that consists of a 48MP main sensor and a 5MP sensor. On the front, there is a 16MP pop-up selfie camera.

For connectivity, the device comes with 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS, USB Type-C port, and Dolby Atmos audio.

Redmi K20 Pro, Redmi K20 to launch in India on July 18

Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi recently launched its Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro handsets at an event in the company’s home country. Around the same time, it was confirmed that the handsets will be launched in India too. Xiaomi India MD Manu Kumar Jain took to Twitter to confirm that the two smartphones will come to India in “six weeks.” With the timing of the tweet, it was inferred that the devices will launch in India till mid-July.

Today, the date of the launch of the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro in India has been leaked. According to industry insiders, the two smartphones will finally be launched in India on July 18, that is exactly a month from today. This is completely in sync with the timeline that Jain tweeted about.

We should point out that Xiaomi has been leaving no stone unturned to create a buzz about its upcoming smartphones before their launch. This is particularly true for the Redmi K20 Pro. The company recently confirmed the launch of the smartphone in India via its official Twitter handle. In the post, Xiaomi has called Redmi K20 Pro as the “world’s fastest phone.” With the tweet, the Chinese brand has touted the presence of Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC and 8GB of RAM in the handset.

Just two days later, the company also shared the Antutu score of the Redmi K20 Pro on social media. It has claimed that the smartphone scored 3,88,803 in Antutu, in an attempt to highlight how powerful the performance of the device really is. It is worth noticing though that benchmark tests are not an ideal way to judge a handset’s performance, as a number of devices have been caught cheating in such tests. We would have to wait to try it ourselves before we can say if Redmi K20 Pro is actually that good a performer.

Redmi K20 Pro specifications

As far as the specifications of the Redmi K20 Pro go, the smartphone looks excellent on paper. The device runs Android 9.0 Pie skinned with Xiaomi’s own MIUI and it sports a 6.39-inch AMOLED full-HD+ display. The display of the smartphone has a fingerprint scanner embedded on it. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, Redmi K20 Pro comes with up to 8GB of RAM.

On the imaging front, the Redmi K20 Pro sports a triple rear camera setup that comprises of a 48MP primary sensor, a 13MP wide-angle sensor and an 8MP sensor. For selfies and video calls, there is a 20MP sensor on the front panel of the handset.

The smartphone by Redmi houses a 4,000mAh battery and for connectivity, it comes with 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Apple is planning to fund six movies with Oscar-winning potential for its streaming service

0

Apple has grown to become one of the biggest technology giants in the world and today, there is a lot more to the company than just iPhones. Apple has multiple other platforms from where it generates revenues and earlier this year, the company expanded its services business further with the launch of Apple News and Apple TV+. Apple TV+ is a service that the company was planning for a very long time and it is its reply to Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime. Now, according to a new report, the Cupertino-based technology giant is planning to boost the content catalogue of its Apple TV+ by financing movies with Oscar-winning performance and potential. In other words, Apple is planning to bag an Oscar with its shows and content.

According to a report by New York Post, Apple is in talks with multiple directors, actors and other film-related personnel to fund the movies which can win the Academy Awards.

It should be noted that the Oscar Awards are the most prestigious awards in Cinema and they are won by people with extraordinary talent. The Award ceremony is hosted every year and it gains the attention of the fans, critics and the film industry personnel from all over the world.

Known to always make a mark by outperforming everyone in the industry, it’s no surprise that Apple is eyeing the Oscar Awards. The report also suggests that the company is searching for six small-budget films that can be completed with a budget of $5 million to $30 million for each film.

Apple’s strategy is a fair one, and if the content from Apple TV+ actually gets an Oscar, the company will be able to create a mark in the world of video-streaming services too. We should also mention that Netflix won an Oscar Award in 2019 for the film Roma. Netflix, being the segment leader, is one of the biggest rivals of Apple in this sphere.

Netflix, Amazon Prime and similar streaming services offer a wide variety of content and because of this, they have gained a lot of popularity. With Disney’s own streaming service – Disney+ – set to launch at the end of this year, Apple TV+ would have to bring exclusive content if it hopes to match its competitors. For its Apple TV+, the company has reportedly been developing original content as well. At the launch of the service, Apple announced tie-ups with celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and others for the streaming service.

Instagram begins testing an easier way of recovering account that are hacked

Facebook-owned Instagram is testing new ways to make it easier for users to recover hacked accounts. This is a very welcome move, as accounts getting hacked is nothing new in today’s day and age and an in-app recovery process will make sure that it is not a painful process for users to get back access back.

Instagram is even taking steps to combat situations where hackers change the username and contact data that is linked to the accounts. The app will now offer a safeguard that will prevent anyone from changing the username from being changed for a particular “period of time” after account changes take place. This is applicable in hacks or even in voluntary cases.

Apart from this, in order to recover their accounts, users will be asked to fill in their personal details like their original email IDs or phone number. The company will also send them a six-digit code to the contact information of their choice. The report about this change in recovery information first surfaced on Engadget.

With the new method, Instagram intends to ensure that account recover is a simple process for the user even if the hacker alters the user name or contact information that is linked to the account.

The photo-sharing app has said that it intends to prevent hackers from using the email ID or phone number codes or take over accounts using a different device. Currently, the feature is being tested with select users. There is no word on the wider availability of the in-app feature. However, we should point out that the username lockdown feature is now available to all the Android users and will soon be deployed to iOS users too.

As of now, if you have to recover a hacked account on Instagram, you either have to wait for a recovery email or fill out a support form. But then, many users have found the process to be a time-consuming one.

The new recovery process is definitely a welcome move and it lets users recover the account from within the app itself.

It is worth mentioning that the decision of the app comes two months after Facebook admitted that there was a security issue on the app because of which 200-300 million passwords were being saved as plain text since 2012. The company also said that it had fixed the issue.

Nubia Red Magic 3 with centrifugal fan and air triggers launched in India: Price and specifications

After months of wait, Nubia’s Red Magic 3 gaming smartphone has finally launched in India today. The smartphone was earlier launched in China in April this year, so we already knew what to expect from it, but the new announcements at today’s event were the India pricing and availability. Although the gaming smartphone category in India is currently a niche segment, companies are gradually moving towards that segment. Earlier this year, we saw the launch of Xiaomi’s Black Shark 2 in India and last year, Asus launched its ROG Phone in the country.

A key highlight of the handset is that it is powered by the most powerful processor that is available – Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 SoC. TikTok launches ‘Device Management’ to ensure user safety online

Popular video-sharing app TikTok has today announced the launch of its ‘Device Management’ feature, that is targeted to enhance the safety of the users. According to the company, the feature enables users to have complete control of their account. TikTok says that safety is one among its key priorities and with the launch of its device management feature, it is taking its security initiative forward.

With the help of its device management feature, users will be able to end sessions or remove their accounts from other devices from within the TikTok app. This feature will help users manage their safety better and ensure that the user accounts are not getting misused.

The company has further said that it has constantly made efforts to promote a safe and positive app experience for its over 200 million users in India. The efforts made include offering its users in-app tools and educational content so that they have all the information that they need to have the best possible experience while uploading their videos. With the new feature, they will be empowered to manage their online presence in a safe way and choose which sessions they wish to end.

This feature will particularly be useful to someone who forgot to log out of their account while changing smartphones.

We should mention that ‘Device Management’ is an addition to the company’s existing 13 leading safety features, that TikTok says that it launched to protect users in India. These features include age gate, restricted mode, screen time management, comments filter and safety centre and they help users to safely upload their creative videos on the platform.

In addition to this, the company has also released a series of educational videos in Hindi and English to help users understand and learn how exactly these safety features work. The videos are easy to understand and they come with useful information on safety guidelines and tools that are aimed at the Indian user base.

TikTok has also said that it embraces diversity and celebrates trends and announced that its user base in India has now gone over 200 million.

We should mention that a few months back, TikTok faced a ban in India and was taken off Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store. The company was then told to monitor its content better so that there is no porn on the platform and children and teens using the platform stay protected. Only after it agreed to comply with it was the ban on the app lifted.

How to use Google Maps like a pro?

Google Maps is probably one of the most used services of Google after YouTube and Gmail. It is also one among the biggest map platforms in the world today. What makes Google Maps such a widely used application is its ease of use and the number of features that it offers its users. Anyone can use the Google Maps – from a child in school to an old man –  as it is very simple and straight forward. But there are other features which you can use to make your travel more easier and hassle free. Here we are listing down three features which you can use on Google Maps to make the most of it:

Using a traffic layer over your Google Maps

This feature can be used to identify and find out the most convenient way to your destination. This feature is based on the traffic conditions of the area you are travelling to or currently are on. For each kind of traffic condition, Google Maps will show a certain colour to show you the speed of the traffic. Here’s how to use it:

  1. Open Google Maps and create your route by entering your destination and current location.
  2. Then, choose the means of transportation (car, bike, foot etc.). Once it is done, the shortest route will be shown to you.
  3. After that, you will be shown two buttons – Step-by-Step and Show Traffic button. Click on the Show Traffic button.
  4. Once it is done, the traffic layer will be applied to your route. You will then be able to see how much traffic is there on the route.
  5. Keep in mind that Green colour is for roads where speed is normal, red means the traffic speed is low, grey means no data is available.

Using Google Maps for getting directions on Public Transit

This feature can be used to get directions of a public transit in a busy metropolitan. By using this feature, you can plan a trip for trains, airplanes or bus. Here’s how to use it:

  1. Enter your destination and current location after opening Google Maps.
  2. Choose either train or plane shaped icon at the means of transport menu. Once chosen, multiple routes will appear on the map from your location to destination.
  3. Then, you can choose the route that you think will be the best according to your needs.
  4. Keep in mind that this feature is not available for all the locations and it will work in some areas and locations/ countries only.

Using Google Maps offline

Google Maps uses data to guide the user from one place to the other but there might be times when you are just not in the place where data connection is available. Or maybe you are somewhere where your data connection is not working. For such times, you would need to use Google Maps offline. To use Google Maps offline follow these steps:

  1. First you need to open Google Maps and search for the address you want. Once the address is found, click on Settings.
  2. Once it is done, click on ‘Make available offline’ option. This will download the map for you.
  3. Once the map is downloaded, it will bring up an area selector which can be maximized and minimized. Then you can save the map. This will download the map of the location you have marked.

However, it should be noted that first you would need an internet connection to make the maps download the area on your device. The downloaded area of the map can be used later as an offline map.

Twitter for Mac app is confirmed to make a comeback

0

Popular microblogging website Twitter officially announced that it is planning to bring back its app on Mac desktops.

The microblogging website announced this in a post on its own platform saying, “Twitter is thrilled to announce we are bringing the Twitter for iPad experience to the Mac! The all-new Twitter for Mac will be in development this summer in preparation for an early launch on macOS 10.15 Catalina.”

According to a report by The Verge, the company made the announcement during Apple’s WWDC conference saying that the app would launch with Catalina and this new version would have a variety of features like dark mode, keyboard shortcuts, multiple windows, and notifications.

To recall, Twitter had discontinued its Mac desktop application in February 2018. After Apple unveiled Project Catalyst for macOS 10.15 Catalina, the company said that it’s bringing the program back.

In a post, the company also explained why it decided to discontinue the app last year. It says that historically, Twitter had a Mac app that shared the same roots as its app for iPhone. Over the years, Twitter for Mac and Twitter for iOS diverged as the company increasingly focused on its mobile apps. The company has also added that supporting the two separate codebases was no longer a sustainable option it and because of this, it ultimately had to close down the native Mac app.

Apple has also announced Project Catalyst for macOS 10.15 Catalina, that will make it easy for developers to bring their iPad projects to macOS as native Mac apps. The Cupertino-based technology giant’s Project Catalyst is Apple’s initiative to help developers port their iOS apps into Mac.

Speaking about it, Twitter also added, “We are excited that Project Catalyst will enable us to bring Twitter back to the Mac by leveraging our existing iOS codebase. We’ll also be able to add native Mac features on top of our existing iPad experience while keeping our maintenance efficient as we continue to improve this shared codebase in the years to come.”

Mac users are some of the most involved people on Twitter, and the app meant for the device has all the feature similar to Twitter’s other platforms. Some platform-specific features are also expected to be present. Mac users can Expect things like resizable windows with dynamic content, multiple windows support, native notifications, drag & drop and keyboard support. There may even be a few newer exciting features for the desktop.

Cellebrite is an Israel based company and according to its revelation, it can hack into any iPhone or iPad running any version of the iOS. We should mention that according to Apple, there are 1.4 billion active devices running on iOS in 2019. If Cellebrite’s revelation is correct, then the same 1.4 billion Apple devices may be potentially at risk of getting hacked. However, we should also point out that the company has not made this claim only about iOS devices. It has also said that it can hack into any Android handset too.

We should mention that Cellebrite uses a hacking tool to accomplish these hacks and now, the company is also planning to sell it. The hacking tool is capable of extracting complete data from any iOS device’s system. However, it is worth adding that the tool requires the individual to have the physical possession of the device. Once he possesses the Apple device, he can use the hacking tool to break and enter the system. Currently, the hacking tool is being sold on eBay for $100 (approximately Rs 7,000). Needless to say, this is extremely dangerous as anyone can now buy the tool to hack into someone’s iPhone or iPad and extract data. It should be noted that the revelation of Cellebrite seems more real if we look at the fact that the FBI had collaborated with the company back in 2016 to crack an iPhone after Apple had refused to provide a backdoor to the FBI.

Apple will soon be rolling out the iOS 13 to its iPhones and iPads. If the tool by Cellebrite actually has the potential of breaking into any iPhone or iPad, we can expect Apple to find a fix and roll it out in the iOS 13. However, if this indeed happens, then those who will not be getting the upgrade to iOS 13 may face a big security concern.
