Time and again, concerns over Chinese apps have popped up. Some past reports have claimed that a number of China-based apps have a lot of paedophiles on them. Others have said that there is no way for users to know if the apps are violating the country’s laws since their privacy policies are only available in their local language. Prior to that, Indian intelligence agencies had listed over thirty-eight Chinese apps that they termed as ‘dangerous’. Although all this happened months back, today, Indian netizens on Twitter started posting with the hashtag #NoChineseApps.
People used it to voice their apprehensions over using Chinese apps and gave all sorts of reasons ranging from privacy to national security. Some even spoke about how we should give preference to Indian apps over their Chinese counterparts.
But then, Twitter is a place to voice opinions and some people can also have really extreme ones. We came across tweets which said that Chinese apps should be banned in India and some even said that they wouldn’t place their trust in the hands of China-based companies.
Some were clever enough to point out how people are concerned about Chinese apps, but nobody questions China-based smartphone companies. We should mention that a number of companies from China including Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus and Huawei currently enjoy a fair share in the Indian smartphone market. Xiaomi, in fact, is currently at the top of the budget segment in the smartphone market in India.
Coming back to today’s Twitter trend, in case it bothers you, we are listing down some popular Chinese apps that you may have installed on your smartphone. These are from SensorTower’s yearly list of 44 Chinese apps among the Top 100 in India on Google Play Store (2018). But then, most of them continue to be very popular and the list also has some names like PUBG Mobile and TikTok. In case you come across the hashtag on Twitter and feel concerned, you would know which apps to uninstall:

Our Take
The pricing of all three smartphones are similar. If the camera is very important to you, then we would recommend the Redmi Note 7 Pro to you. However, that is the only aspect for which we will suggest Xiaomi’s offering. Vivo Z1 Pro is far better in terms of battery and processor. It also has a better selfie camera than the other two devices. Also, handsets from both Realme and Vivo come with less bloatware than Xiaomi’s offerings. Our pick for the best value for money smartphone is the Vivo Z1 Pro, but then, if you have specific requirements, you may opt for the other two.

South Korean technology giant Samsung has quietly shut down its shopping app that it had specifically built for the Indian market. Dubbed Samsung Mall, the AI-backed Android shopping app was aimed at helping users identify various objects around them and then locate the on e-commerce platforms so that they could make the purchase. With Samsung’s app, users did not have to check out various shopping websites for a particular product that they were looking for. The company had even deployed a big research and development team in the country to run the app.
However, a year and a half after its launch, the technology giant has shut down Samsung Mall. The app was exclusively available on select Samsung smartphones and to be precise, it was launched along with the Galaxy On7 Prime handset in the country. The report about the app being shut down first appeared in TizenHelp.
At the time of the launch of the Samsung Mall app, the company had said that it would come with features from its digital assistant Bixby. We should mention that while Bixby enables users to identify objects with photos, it does not have the functionality of letting them make the purchase.
Sanjay Razdan, Director of Samsung India was quoted by a popular daily at the time of the launch of the app saying, “The first insight while developing Samsung Mall was that consumers may be looking to find the price, the colour, delivery options and a lot of other things. Indian consumers want to find the best deals first. They aren’t tied up with one particular portal as well.”
The South Korean technology giant joined hands with Amazon India, ShopClues and TataCLiQ so that the app would show relevant results. The aim was to make it a “one-stop online experience” app. In addition to this, Samsung Mall also lets users compare the prices of products to see from where they could buy at the lowest possible cost.
According to a report in TechCrunch that quotes Randy Nelson, head of Mobile Insights at SensorTower, since March 2018, Samsung Mall app was downloaded five million times from the Google Play Store. He said, “Downloads in May totalled 275,000 — which was down 38% year-over-year from 476,000 in May 2018. It was ranked No. 1,055 by downloads in India’s Google Play store in May — down from 487 a year ago.”
We should mention that till a few years back Samsung dominated the budget smartphone market in India and competed fiercely with Apple in the premium segment. While the budget handset market in the country is currently being led by Xiaomi, the premium segment has seen new players like OnePlus. However, this year, the South Korean company has changed its strategy and launched a number of smartphones that compete against offerings from Xiaomi. It clearly is fighting to take its crown back.
As of now, the company has not issued a formal statement about the closing down of the app, so we can’t really say why it took this step.

Instant messaging platform WhatsApp keeps on getting new features that make it more useful and relevant. Last week, the company reportedly started testing a feature that allows its users to share their status on Facebook, Instagram stories, Gmail and Google Photos directly from the app itself. Now, WhatsApp’s dedicated QR Code Shortcut has been spotted in the beta version of its Android app.
WABetaInfo shared the report about this on its official Twitter handle and shared a screenshot of the feature as well. The tweet reads, “In the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.19.189 update, WhatsApp is working on a QR Code shortcut (it’s not visible yet). The feature will be enabled in future.”
According to the screenshot, it can be seen that soon the users would be able to access the QR code feature on the app using the dedicated button. The tweet says that the company is still working on this new feature and will soon release it for the users.
This new feature was first spotted in November last year. As the name suggests, it allows the user to share their profiles by scanning QR codes. It is similar to Nametag scanning on Instagram.
With the feature, if the user wants to share his contacts information, he can do so just by tapping on the QR button in his profile. On doing this, the users will see a QR code on their profile that can be used by other users to add them as contacts just by scanning it via their cameras.
As of now, there is no word from the company about when this new feature will be rolled out to the stable version of the app. Many other apps like Instagram and LinkedIn let users share their profile to other users via QR codes.
As we mentioned earlier, recently, WhatsApp rolled a new feature for all the users of its beta programme. The new feature allows the users to share their photos and videos that they shared on their WhatsApp status to Facebook, Instagram, Google and Google Photos from the app itself. WhatsApp status is a feature that allows the user to share their pictures and videos on their profile that disappear after 24 hours. Status on WhatsApp is exactly like Stories on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Snapchat.
Currently, this new feature has been released for WhatsApp beta version 2.19.151 for Android. The company is expected to release it for iOS soon.
Getting inspired from each other is nothing new in the smartphone industry. We see it happen a number of times every year. When Apple launched its futuristic-looking iPhone X, there was hardly any smartphone maker that didn’t draw inspiration from the design of the handset. But then, it is one thing to get inspired, and an entirely different thing out-rightly copy. We are talking about Xiaomi. The Chinese technology brand has introduced new avatars for its Xiaomi Mimoji feature. Which many reports from all over the world have said look just like Apple’s Memoji, they have gone ahead and even spoken about the similarity in the name.
Like said, the Chinese company has gone ahead and released its own version of animated mobile bob-heads, which look very similar to the one Apple had released last year. Talking more about the Xiaomi Mimoji, according to Engadget’s Chinese version, the company’s AR avatars are a lot like Apple’s Memoji and even the facial expressions and the colour palette that has been used looks similar.
Xiaomi’s Mimoji avatars earlier used augmented reality to mimic a smartphone user’s facial expressions on anthropomorphic animals. However, with the launch of Xiaomi’s Mi CC9 smartphones, the feature now contains human avatars that look very similar to the ones you see on Apple’s. With this, the feature from the company is drawing a lot of flak from the tech fraternity because it has picked the feature completely from the Cupertino-based technology giant. Even the name Mimoji is being highlighted a lot because of its extreme similarity.
But then, there are a few more facts involved. Firstly, the Cupertino-based technology giant does not own the concept of AR-based virtual avatars and it does not have the trademark for Memojis either. Furthermore, the concept existed even before Apple introduced it at WWDC 2018. To recall, Samsung was quicker than Apple and Xiaomi to come up with its AR Emojis in Galaxy S9 in February last year.
However, many on social media and otherwise have argued how similar Xiaomi‘s Mimoji feature is to Apple’s Memoji, it looks blatantly copied some said. Over that, Xiaomi’s PR executives are actually threatening to take legal action against any forum posters in China for noting the similarities between the two.
While this may seem minor to a giant like Apple, the Mimoji is a good example of how companies at times tend to overlap, on some features, with each other in the smartphone industry. It also reminds us that laws around copyright, trademark and patent are very inconsistent and hence, these also need to be strengthened.
Update:
Xiaomi Global has issued a statement Via Xu Jieyun (PR Head, Xiaomi) regarding the topic related to Mimoji:
1. How does Mimoji of Xiaomi and Apple’s Memoji name look alike?
A: When Xiaomi released the first generation of Mi Meng in May 2018, the English name was called Mimoji, and the package name of the APK was also called Mimoji. Apple enabled Memoji on June 5, 2018. The functional logic of the two products is very different.
In fact, the etymology comes from Emoji (Japanese: “Imitation” Roman spelling).
2. Why is the statement very slow and issued only one day after the incident?
A: It takes time for the internal self-examination and self-examination. In addition, all forensic work has been completed before the statement is issued.
With the statement, Xiaomi has said that they were the ones who came up with the animated Avatars and the name before Apple. We still await Apple’s response on the same.

The social media app that everyone is currently hooked to is Instagram. Naturally, Facebook has been focussing on it a lot to make sure that the app stays ahead of its rivals and remains relevant to the users. For ensuring this, the company keeps on adding new and interesting features to Instagram. The latest among these is a Stories Sticker that has just been rolled out to Instagram. The new feature – called chat sticker – enables people to ask their followers to join a group chat. The one who posts the sticker will also be able to decide who all can join the chat.
We should mention that the new sticker joins a number of other stickers that Instagram has rolled out for its Stories including Quizzes, Polls, Question boxes, Countdowns and more. The chat sticker is basically meant for times when you wish to have a big group conversation about something. This will also prove to be useful when you are making plans with a large group of people.
When somebody will share a chat sticker on their Instagram Story, their friends will be able to tap on it if they want to join the conversation. However, this only sends a request to the original poster and they get to decide whether or not the person who requested gets to join in. The chat will take place in the Direct Messages section of the photo-sharing app. Users will also have the option of ending the chat at any point in time.
It is worth noticing that the feature seems to be aimed at those who interact with real friends and people they actually know on Instagram. We are yet to see how influencers would use it, or whether they will find it useful at all. While they can use it to start a conversation with their fans, it can also prove to be very chaotic if they do because too many people may want to join in.
The feature actually does not seem aimed at those who use Instagram as just a way of building their brand and growing their following. Rather it seems for those who use it for connecting with their friends and talking about things that they love.
While the platform is increasingly getting crowded with influencers and branded content, people who use Instagram as it was originally meant to be used still exist. A good number of people also do not prefer to have a public profile and instead opt for a private one for the kind of privacy it offers. This feature will be useful for people like that.
Samsung’s co-CEO DJ Koh has admitted that the company made a mistake by unveiling the Galaxy Fold “before it was ready”. He said that it was him who pushed the Samsung Galaxy Fold to the market so early and because the device was not ready till now, it had to be delayed right before it was meant to ship for customers.
Speaking to a small group of reporters including The Independent, Koh said that “it was embarrassing.”
We should mention that Samsung Galaxy Fold was supposed to hit the shelves in April this year. Had everything gone well, it would have been the first major release of a foldable handset. Prior to launching the device for the customers, the company sent a few units to some reviewers and YouTubers in the US. However, when they started testing the handset, they discovered that the screen of the Galaxy Fold could be destroyed easily and that the device had hinge issues.
Following this, Samsung delayed the launch of its smartphone. Although the company has promised that the handset will be launched for the masses, it has not given a specific release date. The latest update that the company gave was that the device will not be releasing this month.
A number of reports have suggested that Samsung may relaunch the Galaxy Fold at its Galaxy Unpacked event that is scheduled for August 7. The company will be launching its Galaxy Note 10 phablet at the event and is also expected to finally announce the availability of its Galaxy Home speaker.
Coming back to Samsung Galaxy Fold, Koh told The Independent that the South Korean technology giant has “defined all of the issues and all of the problems.” He also added that the company has also tested 2,000 units of the Galaxy Fold. But then, it seems like this time he isn’t ready to take a chance. He said that the handset is not ready yet and that the company would need “a bit more time” before the launch.
He concluded by saying, “I do admit I missed something on the foldable phone, but we are in the process of recovery.”
Samsung Galaxy Fold specifications
To recall the specifications of the Galaxy Fold, the handset sports a 4.6-inch (860x1960p) external display that is visible when it is folded. When the device is unfolded, it reveals a 7.3-inch Flex Dynamic AMOLED panel. Samsung Galaxy Fold comes with 12GB of RAM and has 512GB of internal storage.
The company has not announced what processor it has used in the handset. The batteries in the smartphone have a combined capacity of 4,380mAh. Samsung Galaxy Fold has a triple rear camera setup that consists of a 16MP ultra-wide sensor, a 12MP wide-angle sensor and a 12MP telephoto lens.
South Korean technology giant Samsung has opened a new app store for its digital assistant Bixby. This will help users discover new shortcuts that they can use with the assistant. The app store has been named as Bixby marketplace and users can go to browse for ‘Bixby capsules’.
Before you assume this to be some kind of a medically prescribed drug, we should tell you that these are basically tools that are similar to Amazon‘s Alexa skills and they let you access certain functions of the app by just using your voice.
It is worth pointing out that Samsung’s Bixby offers quick commands that integrate well with third-party apps. However, the marketplace makes it easier for the user to browse through various categories of apps including games, productivity, travel and music. Users will also be able to customize their capsule to need that is very specific in nature. For instance, if you like to travel by Uber over other can-hailing services, you can adjust the settings in a way that whenever you request a ride, Bixy makes an Uber come and pick you up.
Similarly, you can adjust settings for other apps like Spotify, Yelp, YouTube, Google Maps and more.
According to Samsung, the Bixby marketplace and capsules would not come with visual ads. However, there isn’t much clarity about any audio-based advertisements on the app store.
With the launch of the new platform, Samsung is trying to get more developers to create for its marketplace. The company has even said that it has plans of unveiling more at its developer conference that will be held in fall this year in San Jose, California.
Bixby marketplace is now available for users in the United States and Korea and it is expected to be rolled out to other important markets for Samsung soon.
In an unrelated piece of news, Samsung has also announced that it is all set to launch its Galaxy Note 10 handset at its Galaxy Unpacked event that will be scheduled for August 7 this year. We should mention that the event will be hosted at Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, New York City.
Although the company has not confirmed this yet, reports suggest that it will be launching two devices with different screen sizes instead of one this time. Other than this, Samsung is also expected to unveil its Galaxy Fold and its much awaited Galaxy Home speaker at the event.

Chinese technology company Huawei’s sub-brand Honor will be launching its Honor 9X on July 23. The company has announced on its official Weibo account that the smartphone will be launched in China on the abovementioned date. Honor has also shared a poster on the website, however, that obviously does not mention the price, specifications, and the availability of the device. The handset is the successor of Honor 8X smartphone that was launched in September 2018 in China and came to India a month later.
Recently, the Honor 9X was leaked on the web and some of its specifications and details were leaked. According to the leaked details, the smartphone will be launched in the mid-range segment. Here’s a look at all that we know about the smartphone till now:
Honor 9X specifications and details (expected)

Honor 9X Pro rumoured specifications and details (expected)

Samsung has officially announced that its Galaxy Note 10 handset will be launched on August 7. The company has sent formal invites for its Galaxy Unpacked event that will take place in New York City. The South Korean technology giant has also released a teaser video that shows an all-new S-Pen stylus moving around a single camera lens. This also hints at the Infinity-O display of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.
Samsung has scheduled the Galaxy Unpacked event for 4 pm ET on August 7, which converts to 1:30 am IST on August 8. The event will be hosted at Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, New York City.
The launch of the smartphone is still more than a month away, but reports about it started pouring in months back. Here, we have made a list of everything that we know about the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 so far. Take a look:

Two models are expected to be launched

This year, Samsung is expected to launch two Galaxy Note models instead of one. If reports are to be believed, then apart from the regular variant of Samsung Galaxy Note 10, the company will also be launching Galaxy Note 10 Pro/Galaxy Note 10+. While the former will reported come with a 6.28-inch display, the latter will sport a 6.75-inch screen. The battery sizes of the two devices are expected to be different too.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will also have a 5G variant
(Representative image)
While a number of reports claim that Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will be available in two variants, a report in ETNews claims that there will instead be four. It confirms to the report that says that the handset will be launched in two different screen sizes, it also says that both of these will also have 5G variants – making it a total of four.
No Bixby button

Last month, some cases surfaced online that were claimed to be made for Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Pro. Among other details that they gave away, one thing was very surprising: The handset may not house a Bixby button. This is rather shocking because since Samsung unveiled its digital assistant Bixby, all its premium smartphones have sported a dedicated button for it.
The selfie camera will be placed very differently
A very key difference between Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and the company’s other flagship Galaxy S10, will be the way their selfie camera is placed. While Galaxy Note 10 devices will also come with an Infinity-O display like Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10 Plus and Galaxy S10e, its selfie camera will be placed in the centre of the top of the display. The Galaxy S10 handsets, on the other hand, had their selfie cameras placed at the side of the top of their screens.
Will ditch the headphone jack
(Representative image)
Another thing that the cases of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Pro revealed that the handset is all set to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack this time. This may not exactly be good news for many. While one can always wirelessly connect earphones to a smartphone, many agree that the sound quality is better with wired headsets.
Enhanced Sound-on-Display technology
(Representative image)
A recent report has suggested that Samsung is planning to offer an enhanced version of its ‘Sound on Display’ technology on its Galaxy Note 10 phablets. The technology will work in the same way as Samsung Galaxy M40’s did and will produce audio vibrations via the display of the smartphone. This can be true as Samsung always tries its new technologies in mid-range devices before launching them in its premium flagships.
What about the cameras?
(Representative image)
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 phablets are expected to come with triple rear cameras on their back panels. These cameras will be vertically stacked on the devices’ rear panels. While information about the sensors of the cameras is not available, some rumours have suggested that Galaxy Note 10 Pro will come with a ToF sensor too.
Expected price
(Representative image)
Although the actual price of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will be announced at the Galaxy Unpacked event only, speculations suggest that it will cost $1,100-1,200 (approximately Rs 76,000-82,700).
Samsung Galaxy Fold may launch at the event too
We all know that the Samsung Galaxy Fold, the company’s foldable smartphone, has been delayed indefinitely. A number of issues were found with the hinge design and the screen of the smartphone when some units were sent to members of the tech press for review prior to the launch. It will make complete sense for the company to relaunch the device at the launch of Galaxy Note 10. As of now, it is said to be working on fixing the issues.
Samsung Galaxy Home speaker may also be launched
Samsung unveiled its Galaxy Home speaker at the launch of its Galaxy Note 9. However, until now, the company has not launched the device yet. Samsung recently said that it will be shipping the speaker sometime in Q3 2019. So, the Galaxy Note 10 launch seems to be the event when Samsung will launch the device finally.
Asus has launched a flurry of new gaming laptops in India. Out of its premium range, the Asus Zephyrus GU502 Gaming Laptop has the works. It has a neat design, packs a lot of power and is very luggable. At just 1.9 Kg it is a portable 15.6-inch gaming machine.
Under the hood, Asus Zephyrus GU502 Gaming Laptop has Intel Core i7 9th Gen CPU with a base clock speed of 2.6 GHz. 16GB of RAM comes on board with 512GB PCIe SSD. Over that, Asus ROG is not giving its users the option to upgrade/add more RAM or one more hard drive within the enclosure. All this without voiding the warranty. What you need to do is take it to the nearest Asus centre with an additional RAM or SSD and they will install it for you.
Remember do not do this on your own, or you will end up voiding the warranty. Our first impressions of the laptop are between good to great. This laptop offers latest specs, but looking at its price bracket, some might shy away from it. If bought, this laptop will easily last you half a decade.

Motorola recently launched its One Vision smartphone in India that is priced at Rs 19,999. The Motorola One Vision comes with a 48MP primary camera and is a part of Google’s Android One program. The company has also worked to make its design different from its other devices. But, is the handset worth a buy? Read the rest of our Motorola One Vision review to find out:
In This Article
Motorola One Vision design and display
Motorola One Vision is as different from other Motorola smartphones as it can get. It has a curved glass body and comes with rounded corners. It also has a gradient finish and is available in two colours: Bronze Gradient and Sapphire Gradient. Clubbed together, all these factors make it look extremely premium. The smartphone that we got for review was dressed in Sapphire and interestingly, we noticed some very thin lines on the back panel of the smartphone. The device’s colours are darker in the middle of the rear panel and they gradually grow lighter towards the borders. This is something that actually sets Motorola One Vision apart from other smartphones.
The back panel of the Motorola One Vision also comes with an Android One logo, a Motorola batwing logo, a dual rear camera setup module and an LED flash. Since it is made up of glass, the back panel of the handset is prone to catching those pesky fingerprint smudges. However, if you use the smartphone case that ships with the device, you would not face this problem. But then, we should mention that this would hide the good looks of the Motorola One Vision.
Another good aspect of the handset is that it is mostly nice to use with one hand. It was easy to reach all the keys on the smartphone. But it is the top of the display that is a little hard to access with just one hand, since it is a longer than usual phone.
While the body of the smartphone is made up of glass, the edges that outline it are plastic. The power and volume buttons are placed on the right edge and the SIM tray is placed on the left. The bottom edge has a USB Type C port, speaker grilles and a microphone. The top edge houses the 3.5mm headphone jack and the secondary microphone.
Flip over, and you will see the screen of the smartphone that has 21:9 aspect ratio and a hole-punch design. According to the company, the aspect ratio of the device is called the CinemaVision Display. And said that, it is perfect when it comes to watching videos on YouTube and Netflix. On the downside, the company has added an outline around the hole-punch design. This makes it look much bigger than it actually is and this, in a way, may hinder the video-watching experience.
But overall, we are really impressed with the design, the look and feel of the Motorola One Vision smartphone. It really stands out and the company has done something very different this time.
Coming to the 6.3-inch full-HD+ (1,080 x 2,520 pixels) IPS display, as we mentioned earlier, it comes with an aspect ratio of 21:9. With this aspect ratio, you will certainly enjoy watching videos in the landscape mode. Even though there is an outline around the punch-hole design that makes it look even bigger, it did not hinder our viewing experience. However, there will be those who will not agree with us. We really enjoyed watching movies and other videos on the handset.
Considering that a lot of content on Netflix is now in 21:9 format, someone who uses their smartphone to watch it would not regret buying it. However, the same cannot be said for gaming as a lot of games still do not support the said aspect ratio. One may take a while to get used to playing games like this and certain adjustments may have to be made.
But if we specifically speak about the display of the device, the full HD+ screen is good in quality. The sunlight readability is not a problem and the viewing angles are consistent. However, the colours seem to be a little saturated. However, the images are strident and clear, and the video sharpness seems good on the display, too.
Overall, we would say that the display of the Motorola One Vision is another good aspect of the handset. You would not be disappointed if you like watching a lot of videos on your smartphone.
Motorola One Vision performance and cameras
Before we speak about the device’s performance, let’s talk about its specifications. Motorola One Vision runs Android 9.0 Pie and is a part of Google’s Android One program. This means that it will be receiving timely Android and security updates. Over that, it will offer a bloatware-free experience.
Powered by 2.2GHz octa-core Samsung Exynos 9609 SoC, the handset comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Users can install a microSD card of up to 512GB, if they feel that they need more storage.
For imaging duties, Motorola One Vision houses a dual rear camera setup that consists of a 48MP primary sensor with OIS and a 5MP secondary lens. The device has a 25MP front-facing snapper that can be used to click selfies and make video calls.
Motorola One Vision houses a 3,500mAh battery that has support for TurboPower fast charging.
As we just mentioned, Motorola One Vision runs stock Android and it a part of the Android One program. This means that the device is guaranteed to receive the Android Q and Android R updates. The handset did not have any bloatware and during our time with it, we did not receive any spam-like notifications. It had a clean user interface and only had some basic apps installed. Motorola’s own Moto app lets users access Moto Actions and Moto Display. The Moto help app is also present on the device.
Motorola One Vision has support for some gestures. For instance, you can do a double chop gesture to turn on the flashlight and tap on the screen with your three fingers to take a screenshot. The device also has a ‘One Button Nav’ feature. Using this, you can go to the home screen with one single tap on the Home button. If you swipe upwards, it will open the multitasking interface. Swiping left will take you back and swiping right takes you to the app you were using earlier. Android Pie’s Digital Wellbeing feature is also present on the device.
Coming to the performance of the smartphone, Samsung’s Exynos 9609 in the handset proves to be very capable of handling most tasks. We did not face any lag or stutter in basic day-to-day work. We even multi-tasked with our smartphone by using it for navigation and watching videos at the same time. But then, it survived it all. We played some very graphic-hungry games like Asphalt 9: Legends on the Motorola One Vision and the device handled it with ease. Even after prolonged usage, the handset did not heat up, which is a big plus considering that it has a glass body.
We even used the device for watching videos. As we mentioned in the Display section, the images were sharp and clear and the quality was great. Even the audio output matched up to it and made the video-watching experience really good.
The call quality of the Motorola One Vision was perfect. We had no trouble even making and receiving calls in areas like basements and elevators.
Coming to the cameras of the Motorola One Vision, the 48Mp primary sensor of the handset captures some really beautiful shots. The images showcased vibrant colours and came with a great number of details. Even when we transferred them to our laptop, they continued to look great.
Like all other handsets with 48MP primary cameras, Motorola One Vision combines four pixels into one to give a 12MP resolution picture. There is no option of taking 48MP resolution images using the camera.
The shots taken in daylight turned out to be very vibrant. If you are someone who likes to see realistic colours, you may find them to be a little saturated, but then, it’s not very noticeable if you aren’t too picky about it.
The macro shots taken using the handset were great too. The colours popped out really well and the image quality did not deteriorate. It also did not have any problem focusing on objects.
The low-light photography using the Night Vision mode was another big plus. We clicked images using the smartphone in areas that were hardly lit. But even then, its performance remained intact. The colours were still bright and the images still had details. We did not notice much noise even in such conditions.
The 25MP selfie camera of the Motorola One Vision also did a very good job during our time with it. The performance of the sensor remains reliable regardless of the lighting conditions. Shots taken with the Portrait mode also turned out to be good and doesn’t overdo the bokeh mode.
The 3,500mAh battery of the smartphone can last an entire day with usage involving social media, web browsing, watching videos and navigation. However, we should mention that most of the handset’s rivals offer a bigger cell. The battery of Motorola One Vision runs out quickly while playing games and doing some heavy-duty tasks.
Verdict
There are a number of things that make Motorola One Vision a good buy at Rs 19,999. It’s 21:9 display, the great camera performance and Stock Android experience are the major highlights of the device. It offers one of the best night photography in the sub-Rs 20,000 segment. The smartphone even proved itself to be capable with most day to day tasks.
Some downsides include battery draining quickly while doing some heavy-duty tasks like gaming and the rather too big hole-punch design on the screen. Samsung Galaxy A50, which directly competes with the smartphone, offers more sensors, a bigger battery and an in-display fingerprint scanner at the same price. But then, if these don’t make too much of a difference to you, you will be happy with the Motorola One Vision.
Microblogging website Twitter has just rolled out an update for its Android app. With the latest update, Twitter users who access the Android app of the platform will now be able to add up to three people to their live broadcast. The new feature is a part of update version 8.2.0-release.69 and is 17.38MB in size.
Twitter has been pushing the live-streaming feature on its platform for a very long time now. With the latest feature of the app, people would not only be able to live stream various events but will also have the option of adding others to their live broadcast.
With live streams, Twitter wants people to bring out all the sides of a story. So, you can use it for anything that you like. While until now, one could only give their own opinions in a live stream, by adding up to three people, more point of views about the same event can be shared.
Last year, the microblogging website announced via its own platform that it will now be putting live streams and broadcasts started by accounts that users follow at the top of their timeline. The company said that this would make it easier for people to see events happen in real time. Twitter further added that these would include breaking news, personalities and sports.
The feature was made available for Android as well as iOS. If you don’t know how to begin a live broadcast on Twitter, here are the steps that the company has mentioned on its website:
Swipe left from the home timeline or tap on the camera icon from the composer.
Tap the live mode at the bottom selector.
To go live with audio but not video, tap the microphone at the top right. This will turn off the camera, and you’ll be heard by viewers, but not seen.
Fill in an optional description that will appear as a Tweet, and a location if desired. Then press Go live.
Your live broadcast, with description and location (if added), will appear in a Tweet in your follower’s timeline and on your profile.
The company has also added how we can end a live video. The website says, “You can end a live video at any time by pressing the Stop button on the top left and confirming your action in the menu that comes up.”

Huawei’s next flagship device – Mate 30 – is expected to launch in the second half of the year. Till now, many had doubts if Huawei would be able to launch the smartphone at all considering the ongoing trade ban from the US. But recently at G20, US President announced a concession for the company in the trade ban. While the exact terms for the concession are not clear as yet, reports suggest that the Chinese smartphone brand is working to introduce its Huawei Mate 30 5G in December this year.
According to a slide that the company officials shared at a conference in Russia, Huawei Mate 30 would also be launched in a 5G variant. This will be the third 5G smartphone by Huawei after Mate X and Mate 20 X 5G.
A report in technology website GSMArena says, “Take that timeline to apply primarily to the Russian market, but it could also be a good indicator of when we can expect the entire Mate 30 family to show up in stores worldwide.”
The renders of the upcoming handset have also surfaced online a few days back. According to the leaks, the front panel of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro would sport thin bezels and come with a hole-punch design. The display of the smartphone will have a dual-lens front facing snapper embedded in it.
Reports also suggest that the smartphone would be available in Red, Black and Blue colours.
According to Chinese website IThome, the upcoming Mate 30 Pro will be powered by a Kirin 985 SoC, a HiSilicon Balong 5000 5G modem and its display will have a refresh rate of 90Hz.
The report also says that the handset will come with 5x optical zoom and 50x digital zoom support, just like Huawei’s current flagship – P30 Pro. The device is said to house a 4,200mAh battery that will have support for a 55W Super Charge fast charging feature.
Huawei Mate 30 Pro will also reportedly feature a 6.71-inch curved OLED display and it is expected to come with a QHD+ resolution.
A few months back, the company also launched its Huawei P30 Pro smartphone that comes with a quad-camera setup. The device made headlines because it comes with up to 50x digital zoom – a capability that is not present in any other smartphone till now.
It would be interesting to see how the company makes its upcoming Huawei Mate 30 Pro different from its current flagship device.
Ever wondered why your number of followers never escalated to the desired digits on Instagram? Well, you are not the only one pondering upon it. Instagram is one of the most influential platforms, especially in 2019. By introducing new fads and queer tasks, it remained to be in the hot topics of media, today. But that’s not the topic we are here to discuss. It’s how to get more followers on Instagram in 2019. To attain that, below are some of the tips you should consider while operating your Instagram account.
Discover your interest:
Only if you know what you are good at and what you want to do, you can come up with some creative and exclusive posts. Let’s take the example of a fashion blogger. There are a plethora of fashion bloggers on Instagram, but not all get the recognition they long for. Only those who creatively and persistently post on the same topic become an authority. Your interest could be anything, be it dancing, singing, painting, drama, etcetera. You should always work upon it and make your post speak of your talent/skills.
Tag…Tag…Tag:
There are myriads of users who might find your work/profile interesting yet are unaware of it. Always use appropriate tags for your posts. You can also tag celebrities and official accounts on Instagram whom you find relevant to your post. If they like your post/profile, chances are you might get a free shout out.
Maintain Consistency:
Even if people like your profile and follow you for your work, there are chances that they may soon unfollow you if they find the account inactive. A passive user has never been cheered and thus been followed by a few.
Style your Stories:
Style your stories in a way that makes them more interactive on Instagram. Ask questions such as about the latest trends, big news, of your interest, etc. You can also seek suggestions for your coming posts. This may help you to know the taste of your followers and their interests as well. Polling is also a good option to get active participation of your followers. Stories in 2019 will be the biggest factor to get more followers, so use them well. Also, do not forget to use a hashtag in each of your stories. That will get you extra views and followers.
Switched to Public account yet?
We have seen many making this mistake and then they wonder why isn’t their count going up. Keeping your Instagram Account private often restricts people’s visit to your profile. Also, if you are tagging pages and other accounts there are equal chances that they might view your post but would not be able to repost or share it with their respective followers. You surely don’t want that? A public account is a must to get more active followers.
In nutshell, Instagram has brought multitudes of opportunities for you to unveil your hidden talent and let the world know who you are. All it requires you to be consistent in updating your posts and know your target audience. Appropriate use of hashtags and a mix of above points. This will surely get the ball rolling.
