Samsung Galaxy A10e with 8MP camera and Infinity-V display launched: Price and details

Samsung this week expanded its Galaxy M-series line-up in India with the launch Galaxy M40 globally. Now, the South Korean tech giant has unveiled the Galaxy A10e in the US. Other than the Samsung Galaxy A10e, the company also launched the Galaxy A20 and the Galaxy A50, which are already selling in India. The smartphone is the lowest in the Galaxy A-series and it packs entry-level specifications.

Although the Samsung Galaxy A10 is already selling in India, the Galaxy A10e is the inferior and the watered-down variant of the handset. Some of the highlights of the Galaxy A10e includes an Infinity-V Display along with a single rear camera. Samsung Galaxy A50 is selling in the US through Verizon while the Galaxy A10e and the Galaxy A20 will be reaching the markets in the upcoming weeks.

Samsung Galaxy A10e price and availability

Samsung Galaxy A10e holds a price tag of $179.99 (approximately Rs 12,500) for the lone 32GB storage variant. Other than the US market, the global launch of the Galaxy A10e is not yet known and the company hasn’t said anything about it either.

Other than Samsung Galaxy A10e, the newly launched Galaxy A50 has a price of $349.99 (approximately Rs 24,300) and the Galaxy A20 has a price tag of $249.99 (approximately Rs 17,370).

If we recall, the Samsung Galaxy A10 was launched in the Indian market back in February this year and it held a price tag of Rs 8,490. But currently, the Galaxy A10 in India is selling for Rs 7,990. Comparing it to the Indian releases, the Galaxy A50 holds a price tag of Rs 19,990, while the Galaxy A20 holds a price tag of Rs 11,490.

Samsung Galaxy A10e specifications and features

Although Samsung Galaxy A10e has been unveiled in the US, the company hasn’t provided with the full specifications of the device yet. The official press release states that the Galaxy A10e sports a 5.83-inch Infinity-V display. It packs an 8MP single rear camera at the back while the details of the front camera are currently not known. In addition to this, the Galaxy A10e packs a 3,000mAh battery and has 32GB of internal storage.

Currently, the details about the CPU powering the Galaxy A10e is not known. But a Geekbench listing has revealed that Galaxy A10e runs Android 9 Pie skinned with Samsung’s One UI. The listing also revealed that the device is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7884 SoC paired with 2GB of RAM.

Truecaller is testing the VoIP calling feature for premium subscribers in India

Truecaller seems to be testing a new feature that lets its users make voice calls over data. Truecaller has gained immense popularity because of its useful features that let us identify spam calls, block phone numbers and know who is calling us from unknown phone numbers. Very recently it also crossed the milestone of 100 million users in India. With the ability to make calls over data, Truecaller will become attractive to more potential users in the country.

Right now, this feature is available to a small number of users in India who have a premium account. Truecaller is yet to officially confirm the rollout of VoIP feature for all Truecaller Premium users.

Popularly known as VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) calling, Truecaller’s VoIP feature works like calls on other popular apps like WhatsApp and Google Duo. The app has a devoted ‘Voice’ button which starts VoIP call when tapped. This feature is very useful when the users don’t have sufficient balance to make a voice call but are nonetheless are connected to the Internet. If the voice option is available, then users will be able to the voice calls for free over the internet like WhatsApp voice calling.

VoIP feature is now available to some Truecaller Premium users, but it is not fully available to all users. So, the company appears to be testing the feature currently and it has been made available for select users in India.

Recently Truecaller has gained immense popularity because of its useful features that let us identify spam calls, block phone numbers and know who is calling us from unknown phone numbers.

This popular app allows you to send and receive money so for its feature Truecaller Pay it has tied up with over 80 banks like HDFC and ICICI. To use this feature, users can create their Computer-generated Payment Address and then send or receive money using UPI from their contacts on Truecaller. If you have a bank account you can add your bank account details on Truecaller, then you will be able to check your account balance, make payments via the app itself. You can also get recharges done and making various payments through the app.

Other than that, you can also make a video call to your contacts.  We should mention that the call will actually be made via Google Duo.

The app also lets you record your phone calls. All you have to do tap the hamburger icon which is on the top left of your app and selects ‘Call Recordings’. Then press ‘Start’ and call recording will be enabled on your app.

Canon launches PIXMA G6070, PIXMA G5070 and PIXMA GM2070 high-speed Ink Tank printers: Price and specifications

Canon has launched its flagship high-speed Ink Tank printers in its PIXMA G-series and introduced its first ever monochrome Ink Tank printer in India. The new printers carry the name – PIXMA G6070, PIXMA G5070 and the PIXMA GM2070. With this launch, Canon aims to get 25% of the market share in the Ink Tank category of printers. These printers come with duplex printing and AI support for compatibility with smart speakers. The PIXMA G6070 is a multi-function printer which comes with a copier and a scanner, and on the other hand, the PIXMA G5070 and PIXMA GM2070 are single function printers.

The Canon PIXMA G6070 holds a price tag of Rs 21,499, while the PIXMA G5070 comes with a price tag of Rs 17,399. The cheapest of the lot is the PIXMA GM2070 that comes with a price of Rs 14,299.

All the newly launched Ink Tank printers will be available in the Indian market from June 13 onwards.

The PIXMA G6070 is capable of printing, copying as well as scanning. The printer has a document ISO print speed of around 13.0 ipm for black and white prints and 6.8 ipm for colour prints. It can print up to 8,300 black and white pages and 7,700 colour pages. The newly launched multi-function printer can load up to 350 sheets of paper. Other than that, it has the auto duplex printing feature and supports wireless and mobile printing as well. The PIXMA G6070 has a dimension of approximately 403 x 369 x 195 mm.

On the other hand, the Canon PIXMA G5070 has a document ISO print speed of around 13.0 ipm for black and white prints and 6.8 ipm for colour prints. It has the option for only printing and it can print up to 8,300 black and white pages and 7,700 colour pages. Similar to the PIXMA G2070, the PIXMA G5070 can hold up to 350 sheets of paper and it too comes with a spill-resistant ink bottle design. It has a borderless photo printing of up to A4 sizes and it too supports wireless and mobile printing.

The Canon PIXMA G5070 has a dimension of approximately 403 x 369 x 166 mm.

Lastly, Canon PIXMA GM2070 is a monochrome printer and it has a document ISO print speed of around 13.0 ipm for black and white prints and 6.8 ipm for colour prints. It is capable of printing up to 8,300 black and white pages and can load up to 350 sheets of paper. It comes equipped with spill resistant ink bottle design and the printer also supports wireless and mobile printing. Other than that, the new PIXMA GM2070 can also print in colours.

The PIXMA GM2070 has a dimension of approximately 403 x 369 x 166 mm.

Bose has today announced that its AR Audio sunglasses, which are popularly known as Bose Frames, will go on sale beginning next week in the Indian market

The companies debut sunglasses collection features two classic shapes and has built-in Bose speakers that are promised to provide an immersive audio experience. Bose Frames basically looks like any other pair of plastic-framed sunglasses fitted with polarized lenses. Currently, there are two styles available – the square-framed Alto that is similar to Ray-Ban’s Wayfarer sunglasses, while the Rondo is rounder, smaller and looks a little retro.

We should mention that Bose Frames weigh 45g.

The Bose Frames just look like any other cool pair of shades and it’s really hard to imagine that is audio gear that double up as a fashion statement.

The Bose Frames are basically a pair of sunglasses which has a tiny Bose audio system in the temples. This audio system efficiently changes them into a wireless pair of headphones. It includes a microphone and multi-function button on the right temple for power and pairing, connecting with Siri and Google Assistant, calls and commands, or to pause and skip songs.

Apart from snooping to music or taking phone calls, you can use the Frames to fetch up your ideal digital assistant, line up your golf shot, or take an audio tour of what’s around you

The Bose Frames are tinted and the company claims that it blocks 99% of UV rays. The lenses are interchangeable and can easily be changed for a different colour. The Frames comes up in mirrored silver for the Alto and rose gold set for the Rondo.

The Bose Frames are IPX2 water-resistance rated, so basically, they can be used outdoors without any refrain.

Apart from the audio capabilities, the BoseFrames are also compatible with Bose’s AR platform. The Bose Frames don’t include any visual AR capabilities, but they can provide audio AR input to enhance your experience.

The company claims that battery can last up to 3.5 hours for playback and up to 12 hours on standby. It can be fully recharged in less than two hours.

Bose Frame will be made available with a price tag of Rs. 21,900 and will be offered in two universal styles – the larger Alto and the smaller Rondo.

The Bose Frames Lens Collection of non-polarised and polarised lenses will retail at Rs. 1,990 and Rs. 2,990, respectively. It will be up for sale from June 20 via select resellers and Bose stores in the country.

Spotify adds a new playlist called Your Daily Drive: Here’ s what you should know

Music streaming platform Spotify is coming up with a new playlist called ‘Your Daily Drive’ for its users. Besides music recommendations, the playlist will also come with news podcasts for the users. Although the name of the new feature is ‘Your Daily Drive’, it can be accessed and used by any user of the app whether they are driving or not.

But it should be noted that this new Your Daily Drive feature is currently rolling out only for users of Spotify in the United states. Spotify hasn’t said anything about its global availability and launch or whether it will be coming to other regions or not.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Public Radio International and NPR radios will be providing the news audio clippings to the Your Daily Drive feature so there is no doubt about the authenticity of the news. It should be noted that the news and the music in the playlist will be updated throughout the day so you will get fresh content regardless of when you chose to listen

The feature is different from Spotify’s other popular playlists which shows and plays the songs which it played earlier without updating the playlists. If we compare the Your Daily Drive playlist with Discover Weekly, we will get to see that the latter updates its playlist once a week while the former updates the playlist throughout the day. In addition to this, Spotify’s Your Daily Mix updates its playlist only once a day so the new playlist will deliver much fresh content whenever it is selected.

Earlier we saw that Spotify was testing five different podcast-only playlists which were collected and selected by people (human curated). The Podcast only playlist will play only podcasts instead of any music. Although Spotify’s new podcast only playlist is still in its testing phase and it will be a while till it becomes live, but the Your Daily Drive is available for all the US users of Spotify.

Other than that, Spotify last month announced its first hardware project called the Car Thing. With this, the Spotify can gather data about how and what the people listen to when driving. Although not yet, but Spotify might be on its way to being a radio itself. There might be a time in the future when Spotify might also include traffic and weather information when driving.

BSNL launches a new Prepaid plan called the Abhindan-151 for all its subscribers

State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced a new Rs 151 plan for its prepaid customers. The new prepaid plan is named as “Abhinandan-151” and it brings unlimited calls, 1GB daily data along with 100 SMS per day for a period of 24 days. The new plan is not just limited to one or two cities but, it is active and available across all BSNL circles with all the benefits we just mentioned. The new prepaid plan from BSNL comes days after it launched the BSNL My Offers service that was designed to suggest the best special tariff vouchers for its subscribers. The My Offers Service could be accessed by dialling *121#.

It should be noted that with the recharge of the new Rs 151 Abhindan-151 plan, the users would get a validity of 180 days. However, the benefits that it comes bundled with will only be available for 24 days. Talking about the benefits, with the recharge of Rs 151 prepaid plan, the users will get unlimited local, STD as well as roaming calls to any network. It even includes the Delhi and Mumbai circles. Other than unlimited voice calling, the plan also offers 1GB of data every day which means it provides a total of 24GB of data in total. Lastly, users will also be getting 100 SMS messages every day.

The plan is currently live and listed on the official BSNL website as the Abhindan-151 plan. It also comes as a promotional offer which is available for 90 days starting from Thursday, June 13. Other than that, it is also applicable for the new migrated and the existing BSNL connections. This means that the new, as well as the old BSNL customers, can recharge and avail to the benefits of this plan. The new Rs 151 prepaid plan from BSNL was first spotted by Telecom Talk.

Furthermore, in May 2019, the state-owned telecom operator BSNL launched a new *121# BSNL My Offers Service to all its customers. Using this new service, the subscribers would could get suggestions on the best special tariff vouchers. To use it, the subscribers would have to dial *121# from their smartphone’s dialler and then click on Call. The service is designed to reply to the customers with all the available STV plans active in their own telecom circles. The users can then choose from the list of plans suggested to them.

Telegram messenger attacked by a massive cyber-attack DDoS

The popular encrypted messaging service Telegram is once again being hit with a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack in Asia, as demonstrators in Hong Kong take to the streets.

People in Hong Kong took the street to protest against the extradition bill. Demonstrators spread requests on Telegram groups, requesting for additional supplies such as riot gear and first aid kits.  Many of these groups have thousands to ten thousand members.

“We’re currently experiencing a powerful DDoS attack, Telegram users in the Americas and some users from other countries may experience connection issues. A DDoS is a ‘Distributed Denial of Service attack’: your servers get GADZILLIONS of garbage requests which stop them from processing legitimate requests. Imagine that an army of lemmings just jumped the queue at McDonald’s in front of you – and each is ordering a whopper… The server is busy telling the whopper lemmings they came to the wrong place – but there are so many of them that the server can’t even see you try and take your order,” said Telegram on Twitter.

“This case was not an exception,” Pavel Durov tweeted without explaining.

Telegram Messenger, is one among the most popular budding rivals of WhatsApp. It is not the first time when the app has been hit by DDoS instigating from China. Four years back, a similar attack hit the Telegram’s service, when China was initiating a crackdown on human rights lawyers in the country. These lawyers were communicating with one another during the crackdown through several messaging services, including Telegram.

A DDoS attack is when a perpetrator overpowers an entity’s servers with fake traffic, in order to render a site or web service unreachable to its operators.

Recently, Telegram rolled out a new update for its users. This new update would allow users to revoke or unsend their messages without any time-limit. The user is able to unsend the message which would unsend/delete the message for the recipient as well. Previously, there was also a time limit of 48 hours to revoke the message, but now the limit has been removed and it can be revoked at any time. The new Telegram 5.5 update gives the users the choice where the messages sent or received by them can be unsent.

We should mention that this feature was added to WhatsApp in 2017, and was an instant hit as it was a much-requested addition.

2019 iPhone XR to pack a bigger battery than current model: Report

Cupertino-based technology giant Apple is said to include bigger batteries in its upcoming 2019 iPhone offerings, according to a report that has just surfaced online. The 2019 version of the iPhone XR is said to feature a 3,110mAh battery, which will be bigger than the one that is currently used on iPhone XR. Although Apple never discloses the battery capacity and RAM that is used in its iPhones, it was reported this year that the iPhone XR housed a 2,942mAh battery.

The report about the 2019 version of iPhone XR first appeared in The Elec. We should also mention that the report said that the upcoming iPhone XR 2 will be powered by Apple’s A13 processor, that will be made of the second-generation 7nm process. This is supposed to enhance the battery performance of the new iPhone.

In addition to this, the media report has also said that China’s Ameperx Technology has already started the mass production of a new battery pack. Apple, on the other hand, is said to be planning to upgrade the camera resolution and setup of its entire lineup that is scheduled to launch this year.

It has been reported that the front camera of the smartphone will be upgraded from 7MP to 12MP, and that the 6.5-inch and 5.8-inch OLED iPhone models will come with a triple rear camera setup. One camera on the setup with a new super-wide 12-megapixel camera, according to renowned Apple predictor Ming-Chi Kuo.

Prior to this, it was also reported that the new iPhone XR 2019 will come in Green and Lavender colour options. The new colours will be replacing the earlier colours of the iPhone XR – Blue and Coral. However, we should also mention that there will be some colour options which will be making their return on the upcoming smartphone including Black, White, Red, and Yellow.

With iPhone XR, Apple introduced new colour options last year like Coral and Blue. But this is not the first time when the company has tried this. Apple has earlier tried a new range of colours like Yellow and Pink for its affordable iPhone 5C in 2013.

It has also been reported earlier that the new 2019 iPhones will have a better display and will be featuring the AMOLED displays from Samsung. But the successor of the iPhone XR will come in the same last year’s LCD display panel.

How to use WhatsApp Web on PC?

WhatsApp is one of the most popular instant messaging platforms today and currently most people who own a smartphone use it. It can be used for sending messages, videos and images. The WhatsApp application is available for both Android and iOS, but sometimes you would need to use the app on your PC and that’s where the WhatsApp desktop app becomes useful. Using the WhatsApp desktop app, that is also known as WhatsApp Web, you can use the platform on your big-screened desktop, but setting it up for the first time can be confusing. Here we are telling you the ways by which you can set up WhatsApp web on your desktop:

  1. First, to use WhatsApp on your PC, you need a PC and a smartphone with the WhatsApp app in it. You also need to be logged in to the app.
  2. Then you need to go to https://web.whatsapp.com/. Once there, you will see a QR code which will appear in a square box with black and white patterns in it.
  3. Open the WhatsApp app in your smartphone and look for the triple dots set up in a vertical way at the top right corner of the app. Tap on it.
  4. Then from the list of menus, click on ‘WhatsApp web’.
  5. After that, you will be asked to open the web.WhatsApp.com on your PC. Click on ‘OK, GOT IT. A QR scanner will appear.
  6. Scan the PC’s QR code with your smartphone.
  7. Then you will be given a list of devices you are logged in to. If you haven’t used the WhatsApp web before then it will open your WhatsApp account immediately. But if you have used it on another device then it will give you the list of devices where you have opened the WhatsApp web. You can select on the device which you are using for the WhatsApp web.
  8. If you want to log in to a new device, you need to press the white + sign on the top right side of the menu of your smartphone. It will launch the camera, then you need to give permission to WhatsApp to use your device’s camera if you haven’t given already.
  9. After that, you can scan the QR code displayed on the PC and then follow the steps mentioned above. Your PC will open your WhatsApp account itself.

Samsung announces a behemoth 292-inch ‘The Wall Luxury’ MicroLED TV with 8K resolution

Samsung launched its giant 75-inch and 219-inch MicroLED TV models earlier this year. The new MicroLED TVs from the South Korean technology giant were one of the biggest televisions in the world and they were named as “The Wall” because of their size. But now, the company is going further beyond in its MicroLED TV department as it is announcing an upgraded version of The Wall Luxury TVs that would be bigger, better and grander than the previous models.

The new MicroLED TVs starts with the smallest of the lot with 73-inches for a 2K resolution model and the new range will come in all sizes, aspect ratios and customizable configuration. The biggest of the lot comes at a behemoth 292-inches and it will offer 8K resolution.

Although Samsung’s new The Wall Luxury TV set is 292-inch big, it is only 30mm in thickness which further adds a beauty to it. It also offers a bezel-less display design which is quite amazing for a TV of this size.

According to the company, The Wall Luxury will come with an AI picture quality engine which is known as the Quantum Processor Flex. The new engine will use the AI upscaling and machine learning to optimize the picture quality of whatever is playing on the screen on a scene-by-scene basis. Other than that, the new The Wall Luxury MicroLED TV series will reportedly offer Quantum HDR technology and produce a brightness of 2,000 nits. It will have 120Hz video refresh rate display and according to the company, it will be an ideal TV for watching movies, sports or playing video games.

Although the size, the details and some of the specifications of the Wall Luxury MicroLED TV have been revealed, Samsung hasn’t announced the price of the new TV. The Wall Luxury MicroLED TVs are to go on its global sale the next month in July 2019, and considering the specifications and all the new technology it packs there is no doubt that it will have a price which most people won’t be able to afford. But still, it remains to be seen just how much the company will ask for it and how will it change the TV industry.

Samsung is known for making new technology and launching new products with unique features. Samsung Galaxy Fold was a prime example of it. Although the Galaxy Fold was recalled due to some problems and technical difficulties, it was still one among the first foldable smartphones to be announced. But now, the company has said that it will be launching the Galaxy Fold once again in the coming weeks.

Android smartphones can now be used as physical security key for iOS two-factor authentication

Technology giant Google will be seen expanding its ability to use an Android smartphone as a physical two-factor authentication security key for iOS devices. A report has surfaced online that suggests the same. The feature was previously launched in April, however, at that point in time, it only worked with Chrome OS, macOS, and Windows 10.

However, the report, which first surfaced in 9to5Google, also mentions that because of a number of restrictions on the way iOS works, using an Android smartphone as a physical two-factor authentication key will work differently. So, instead of using Chrome to communicate with the device as we do in the PC versions. But in case of iOS, the Android smartphone will link up with Google’s Smart Lock app.

Once all of this is set up, whenever you log into your Google account on an iOS device the app will send a notification to the Android smartphone using Bluetooth. The users then have to confirm that they are the ones who are trying to log in on their Android smartphone. This information is then sent back to the iOS device and it allows the user to login.

We should mention that since security key support for iOS has been limited till now, adding the option of using an Android smartphone will make an enhanced security feature more accessible for a number of users.

There are people who use an iPad and own an Android smartphone instead of iOS. They would find this feature to be extremely useful for sure. But then, considering that a majority of Apple fans use iOS devices only, they may not see any use of it.

In case you are one among the former and would want to use the feature, it would be available on all Google accounts starting today.

In another piece of news that has surfaced online today, the company is ending the syncing of files between Google Photos and Google Drive so that the pictures which are backed up in the former do not appear in the latter automatically like it used to do before.

Google has announced that the change will be implemented next month onwards and that it has taken this step to simplify the user’s experience between Photos and Drive. The company made this announcement via a blog post, where it said, “We’ve heard feedback that the connection between these services is confusing, so next month, we’re making some changes to simplify the experience across Drive and Photos. This change is designed to help prevent accidental deletion of items across products.”

Opera has revealed a new browser for Windows PCs that have been designed specifically for people who love games. It is a desktop web browser that can be used in a Windows PC. This browser includes all the features that are aimed at gamers.

Google will be disconnecting the sync between Google Drive and Google Photos

Google has been offering the syncing of images and photos between its Photos and Drive services. But now, the company is ending the syncing of files between the two platforms so that the pictures that earlier backed up in Google Photos won’t appear in Google Drive automatically like it used to do before.

The new change will be implemented from next month onwards, and the company has taken this step in order to simplify the user’s experience between Photos and Drive. The company made this announcement via a blog post. This change will be made for all the users of the platforms.

Dan Schlosser and Jason Gupta, product managers for Google Drive and Photos said, “We’ve heard feedback that the connection between these services is confusing, so next month, we’re making some changes to simplify the experience across Drive and Photos. This change is designed to help prevent accidental deletion of items across products.”

After the sync ending, Google will be offering a new way by which the users can copy the images and the videos from Drive to Photos. There will be a new feature called “upload to Drive” in Google Photos website or app. Once it is uploaded to Drive, you will have two files on the two platforms but there won’t be any connection between them. So, if you delete a file on Photos, it won’t automatically be deleted from Drive as well as it did before.

Although the syncing between Google Drive and Google Photos will end in July 2019, the company has assured that no files will be deleted once it ends the syncing. The product managers of both the products state that the photos and videos the users have uploaded before the new change takes over will still remain in Photos. Earlier, when syncing, Google Photos’ files were stored in Drive’s Google Photos folder. They also assured that it will stay in the folder in Drive but it won’t automatically be updated or like it used to do before.

Although this might be a good thing for some users who didn’t want to waste the memory of Google Drive by copying two images at two locations. But it will be inconvenient to people who stored the files at two separate locations in order to access them from anywhere across any platform. Since it won’t be syncing with Drive anymore, it can get troublesome for the users who stored their files as a backup on Drive.

Xiaomi Mi 9T with triple-rear camera and pop-up selfie camera launched: Price and specifications

Xiaomi had launched its Redmi K20 smartphone in China last month and now, the company has unveiled another handset globally which is the rebranded version of the smartphone. The new smartphone is named Mi 9T and it comes with the same specifications and design as the Redmi K20. Other than that, the company also launched the Mi Smart Band 4, Mi Electric Scooter Pro and the Mi True Wireless Earphones at the event. Here’s a look at the details of everything new that was launched:

Xiaomi Mi 9T price and availability

Mi 9T with 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage holds a price tag of EUR 329 (approximately Rs 25,900) while the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant of the device has been priced at EUR 369 (approximately Rs 29,000). The Mi 9T comes in three colour variants – Carbon Black, Flame Red and Glacier Blue.

The 64GB storage variant of the Mi 9T will go on sale in Spain from June 17 onwards and it will be made available on Amazon and Mi.com stores for the first 24 hours. It should be noted that, for the first 24 hours, the Mi 9T with 64GB storage will be selling at EUR 299 (approximately Rs 23,500)

On the other hand, the 128GB storage variant of the Mi 9T hasn’t received a release date till now but the company has said that it will be available ‘in the coming weeks’.

Other than Spain, the company said that it will soon announce the availability information of the Mi 9T for other markets closer to the local launch. Other than European market, the Mi 9T will be making its way to Malaysia.

The Mi Smart Band 4 is priced at EUR 34.99 (approximately Rs 2,700) and it will be available in markets from June onwards. On the other hand, the Mi Electric Scooter Pro holds a price tag of EUR 499 (approximately Rs 39,200) and it will go on sale from June 13 onwards. Similarly, the Mi True Wireless Earphones is priced at EUR 79.99 (approximately Rs 6,300) and it will also be available from June 13 onwards.

Xiaomi Mi 9T specifications and features

Talking about the specifications of the Mi 9T, it sports a notch-less 6.39-inch Full HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) display with an aspect ratio of 19:5:9 and comes with Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. It is powered by the octa-core Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730 SoC paired with 6GB of RAM. The Mi 9T runs Android 9 Pie skinned with MIUI 10 and supports dual-SIM (Nano). The Mi 9T comes with a unique flame design and has a four-sided curved glass back. The Mi 9T comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner and packs a 4,000mAh battery with 18W fast charge support.

On the imaging front, the Mi 9T features a triple-rear camera with a 48MP Sony IMX582 main sensor with an f/1.75 aperture paired with an 8MP telephoto lens with an f/2.4 aperture. The third camera is a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens with an f/2.4 aperture. On the front, there is a 20MP pop-up selfie camera.

Other features of the Mi 9T includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Mi Smart Band 4 features

The Mi Smart Band 4 was also launched at the Spain event and it is the same product which was unveiled in China earlier this week. It comes with a full-colour AMOLED screen and packs a 135mAh battery. According to the company, the Smart Band 4 can last up to 20 days on a single charge. In a statement, Xiaomi said, “In addition to the health and activity tracking features from previous generations, Mi Smart Band 4 now features a swim tracking mode to monitor swim length, time, swim strokes, SWOLF (a measure of swimming efficiency) and more.”

Mi Electric Scooter Pro features

The Mi Electric Scooter Pro is an electric scooter which was launched alongside the Mi 9T. According to the company, it offers up to 45km range on a single charge. It has a top speed of 25kmph. There is also a built-in multi-function display that shows the ride and other details.

“Its [Mi Electric Scooter Pro] portable folding design makes it a perfect last-mile solution and allows for easy storage. It features the same intuitive controls, double-braking system as well as a series of battery safety features,” Xiaomi said.

Mi True Wireless Earphones features

The last product launched by the company is the Mi True Wireless Earphones and we should mention that they look similar to Apple’s AirPods. The company has claimed that the earphones can offer up to 10 hours of music playback.

“Music playback automatically stops when either of the earpieces is removed from the ear and can also work independently for answering phone calls. Its [Mi True Wireless Headphones] intuitive touch controls let you tap or double tap to play/pause music, answer/end calls or activate voice assistants,” Xiaomi said.

South Korean technology giant Samsung may be still figuring out how to fix the issues of its Galaxy Fold smartphone and launch it for the masses. However, that is surely not stopping the company from planning its other smartphones that will come with a unique design. A patent has surfaced online that shows a Samsung smartphone with a rollable display.

The patent was first found by Gizmodo and it shows a handset that looks like any other smartphone at first glance. However, the smartphone in the patent actually has a rollable display inside. We should also mention that the top that houses the selfie camera and the earpiece of the handset will be extending outwards from the handset. With this, we can say one thing for sure: Whenever the smartphone launches, it will leave others far behind in the race of aspect ratio.

Samsung’s rollable smartphone in the patent may also remind a few of the BlackBerry Priv. However, instead of coming with a QWERTY keyboard, it will have a really tall display.

We should mention that rollable displays are no longer a farfetched possibility. This year at the Consumer Electronics Show, LG showcases its rollable OLED display that it will begin marketing this year. Other than this, Corning is working on a bendable glass that will be used in smartphones. However, we may have to wait for years before we get to see Samsung’s new rollable phone as it may take some time for the company to get this kind of technology to life.

But then, another very relevant question is how durable a smartphone like this would be. The sliding mechanism on the device could be just as prone to catching dust particles as the Galaxy Fold was. In addition to this, smartphones that come with a foldable display or moving parts like pop-up selfie cameras have also been subjected to scepticism.

However, we are definitely hoping that Samsung does find a way of pulling it off seamlessly so that we do get to see it and use it at some point. From the patent, the rollable Samsung smartphone looks like it is straight out of a futuristic science-fiction movie.

On an unrelated note, the company has also announced that its Galaxy Fold smartphone will be launched again in the coming few weeks. Samsung had earlier sent the device to some reviewers and YouTubers in the US, but a number of them reported that the screen of Galaxy Fold has certain issues. The company then postponed the launch of the handset.

Vivo Z1 Pro with in-display front camera to be available on Flipkart

Vivo India will be partnering with Indian e-commerce platform Flipkart to launch its upcoming smartphone Vivo Z1 Pro in India. The company announced about the partnership on Wednesday but the launch date of the upcoming smartphone has not been mentioned yet. Till now, the smartphone series hasn’t been launched in India so this will be the first handset from the Z-series to be unveiled in the country. According to the company, the Vivo Z-series smartphones will be focused towards the Gen Z of India. It will also be company’s first online-only smartphone and it will have an in-display front camera instead of the punch-hole camera setup.

Till now, nothing much has been confirmed by the company, but according to the teasers of the Vivo Z1 Pro, it will have a ‘seamless performance’. However, till now, there is no word on the RAM, specifications, and CPU details of the smartphone. The company also said that the upcoming Vivo Z1 Pro will be perfect for multitasking meaning we could be looking at more than 4GB of RAM. The company also said that the Vivo Z1 Pro will be able to provide full-day long lasting battery life. But the company has not reveal the battery capacity of the fast charging capabilities.

For imaging duties, the Vivo Z1 Pro is confirmed to come with an ‘AI triple rear camera setup’ that will capture great landscape as well as portrait shots. As mentioned above, the device will come with an in-display front camera setup. There will also be the AI Face Beauty feature for selfie beautification.

Commenting on the Flipkart partnership about the Vivo Z1 Pro Nipun Marya, Director Brand Strategy of Vivo India in a press statement said, “Offering meaningful and innovative experience has been a key pillar of our strategy and our partnership with Flipkart is a step further in that direction. The all-new Z series has been designed to empower the young millennials and fulfill the dynamic needs of the ‘Gen Z’.”

It should be noted that the in-display front camera technology was earlier teased by the company along with Xiaomi. If the reports are right, then we can see the first implementation of this technology in the upcoming Vivo Z1 Pro. Other companies like Honor, Oppo, Xiaomi also said that they too were working on the in-display camera technology.

Google Pixel 4 confirmed with dual rear cameras 2019

If you are one among those who have always loved Made by Google hardware, we have some news for you. The technology giant has confirmed its Google Pixel 4 smartphone.

Since a number of reports, rumours, and renders of the upcoming device had been surfacing online for a few weeks now, the company just decided to make the smartphone official.

Pixel 4 confirmed by Google with the first official photo on Twitter 

Google took to its Twitter account ‘Made by Google’ today and shared a picture of the Pixel 4. The tweet that accompanied the image read, “Well, since there seems to be some interest, here you go! Wait ’til you see what it can do. #Pixel4”

That is how the company teased the basic design of the smartphone.

In the image, it can be seen that the upcoming Pixel 4 smartphone will come with a square camera bump on the top left corner of its back panel.

The camera module seems to carry two camera sensors and an LED flash.

We should mention that this will be the first time that Google, whose smartphones are known for their photography, would be adding more than one sensor to its camera module.

The image that the company shared shows the smartphone coloured in Black, but then, we expect more colour variants of the handset to be there.

Another thing worth pointing out is that the smartphone does not sport a fingerprint sensor on its back panel. With this, we can easily conclude that it will come with an in-display fingerprint scanner.

In addition to this, we couldn’t help but notice the silver coloured Power button on the Pixel 4’s side edge.

It is completely in contrast to the body of the smartphone, much like what we also saw on the Pixel 3a, which has a White coloured body with an Orange coloured Power button. It’s a tiny detail, but we like it nevertheless.

One of the more obvious things about the design of the Google Pixel 4 smartphone is that it’s back panel does not have the regular design that all other Pixel devices do.

Other Pixel smartphones come with a glossy glass portion on the top of their rear panel and a larger matte portion that lies right below it.

While it’s difficult to figure out from the image whether the smartphone has a glossy finish or a matte one, we can say that it does not come with both.

Google has not given any details about the internals or exact launch date of the Pixel 4, so we will have to wait till we get to know more about Google pixel 4 price and it’s more configurations.

But then, since the company always launches its flagship Pixel smartphones in October, this year should be no different.

Asus is planning to launch its next iteration of the ROG gaming phone, and it has been confirmed that the device will be launching soon.

But till now, there wasn’t any solid proof of what it would have or what it will come with. Now, it has been confirmed that the Asus ROG Phone 2 will have a 120Hz refresh rate display.

The confirmation comes from a Weibo poster of a Chinese fighting game which will be partnering with the Taiwanese electronics maker.

The game is named Under the One Man and it is based on a comic book franchise of the same name, it is published by Tencent Games with which Asus was already in a confirmed partnership.

The Asus ROG Phone 2 will be the successor to the Asus ROG Phone which is one of the best gaming smartphones of today. The company has already confirmed that the Asus ROG Phone 2 will be released in July of 2019.

Talking about the Weibo post, the poster states that the Asus ROG Phone 2 will come with a 120Hz display which according to the company is ideal for the game Under the One Man.

The poster also states that the 120Hz display is suitable for a fighting game as it will be giving the players a “more delicate and refreshing fighting experience’.

The poster further mentions that “more popular 120Hz games” will be coming soon.

This could mean that collaboration between Tencent Games and Asus could see more games being released for the Asus ROG Phone 2 by the company.

It should be noted that the newly launched OnePlus 7 Pro comes with only a 90Hz display while the Razer Phone 2 which was launched last year had a 120Hz display.

But how will Asus ROG Phone 2 go up against other flagship smartphones will be seen once it launches next month? Xiaomi’s Black Shark 2 recently was launched in India and with it, the gaming smartphone industry in the country is slowly becoming more mainstream.

The Asus ROG Phone was launched back in November in India for a price of Rs 69,999.

This Asus ROG Phone comes with ROG UI which is a unique UI developed especially for the Asus ROG Phone.

The Asus ROG Phone is already a flagship smartphone with many top-class specifications and the next iteration of the device will pack much better performance than its predecessor.

HP has introduced a new series of its Laser Printers in India, which the company says have been built to enable businesses with high quality and productive printing solutions. The newly launched printers include the HP Laser 108 Printer Series, HP Laser MFP 136 Series and HP Laser MFP 138fnw. All three printers come with high print speeds that are compatible with easy mobile printing features such as Wi-Fi Direct.

Speaking about the newly launched printers, Leo Joseph, Sr Director, Printing Systems and Solutions, HP India, said, “As the leader in overall print as well as Laser Printer market, we continue to drive innovation and bring relevant products for our customers in India. The new series of HP Laser Printers can help businesses, especially Small and Medium Businesses and Startups, to drive efficient and economical printing operations without compromising on the quality.”

All the three printers have been designed to support a clutter-free, mobile-first workspace keeping productivity in mind. The company says that these printers will be very useful for SMBs who come with relatively smaller offices. According to the company, the offices require printers that can print, scan, and copy even the smallest of places.

Powered with Wi-Fi Direct, the printers can be connected and controlled using the HP Smart App to get work done wherever, whenever. With the app, users can print, scan and copy documents from their smartphones, and share them using cloud or email. The app can also connect with these printers directly and print documents, even when there is no network connection available.

LG UltraGear 38GL950G, 27GL850 gaming monitors launched: Price and specifications

South Korean technology giant LG has launched two new monitors in its UltraGear series today. According to the company, these are the first ever 1ms Nano-IPS Nvidia G-Sync monitors in the world. The company has launched two models – one is UltraGear 27GL850 that comes with a 27-inch display and a refresh rate of 144Hz and the other is UltraGear 38GL950G that has a 37.5-inch screen and comes with an overclocked maximum refresh rate of 175Hz.

According to LG, the two new monitors that have been launched are an “a gamer’s dream come true” as they have the ability to reproduce 98% of the DCI-P3 colour space and a 135% of the sRGB colour space. The two new offerings by the company also come with ultra-fast 1ms grey-to-grey response time. With these, LG has promised the most immersive gaming experience that is available yet.

Both the models of the monitor come with support for Nvidia’s G-Sync variable refresh rate technology. We should mention that the 37.5-inch 38GL950G model comes with a curved screen that has an aspect ratio of 21:9. The model also comes with a UWQHD+ resolution and is also compliant with Vesa DisplayHDR 400 specification. The company is boasting of a virtually borderless design on the new monitor and has said that its 144Hz refresh rate can be overclocked to a 175Hz. In addition to this, a feature called Sphere Lighting 2.0, which is an array of RGB LED lights, is also present on the rear and can be used to project colours that make the experience even more immersive.

Coming to the flat 27-inch 27GL850 model, it comes with support for HDR10 and AMD FreeSync. The monitor is validated by Nvidia for G-Sync Compatible specification. The monitor has a QHD resolution coupled with a typical brightness of 350nits. The company has also said that the monitor does not come with flickering and artefacts.  According to the company, the monitor is “virtually borderless” on three of its sides and can be tilted, swivelled and its height can be adjusted using its stand.

The monitor is said to reproduce the same 98% DCI-P3 and 135% sRGB colour spaces as the 37.5-inch 38GL950G model. The monitor does not come with Sphere Lighting 2.0.

The company has also said that the two are the world’s first 1ms grey-to-grey IPS displays and that they do not sacrifice on the performance in order to achieve the said speed. While the 38GL950G has one HDMI and one DisplayPort input, the 27GL850 comes with two HDMI ports and a DisplayPort.

The cost of the LG UltraGear 38GL950G is $1,999.99, which is approximately Rs 1,38,840. On the other hand, LG UltraGear 27GL850 monitor bears a price tag of $499.99, which is approximately Rs 34,710.

Thomson launches a new range of Official Android televisions in India: Get all the details here

French consumer brand Thomson has today launched a new range of Official Android TV series in India. The company claims that it is the only brand to fully manufacture the complete range of its Official Android television “entirely in India”. It says that it has honoured its commitment towards the ‘Make in India’ initiative. The new range of TVs that has bee launched in India includes 65-inch, 43-inch, 49-inch and 55-inch variants.

With the launch of the new televisions, Thomson forayed into the premium TV space in India. The launched series come with Android Oreo 8.1 operating system, an Android remote that will have dedicated keys for Google Assistant, Netflix and Google Play.

Price of Thomson Official Android TV in India:

  • 43 inches: Rs 29,999
  • 50 inches: Rs 34,999
  • 55 inches: Rs 38,999
  • 65 inches: Rs 59,999

Thomson has also added 4K 10 HDR display along with DOLBY Audio and DTS TruSurround in all the screen variants of its new televisions in the country. In addition to this, Thomson’s Official Android TV range includes some pre-loaded applications such as Netflix, Youtube, Google Store Play, Google Play Music and Google Play Movies.

With 4G services reaching the masses, a number of people from tier 2, tier 3 cities and rural areas have started opting for online shopping. The company claims that according to a recent report, in 2018 the online television sales spiked at 20% for ‘flat panel tv sets’.

Thomson, after its re-entry in the Indian market last year, adopted the ‘sales via e-commerce’ strategy and brought its products to people across the country on Flipkart. Thomson says that since it has made a comeback in India, it has crossed many milestones and is now on its way to “consolidate its leadership position in the affordable online TV space, which is growing at an unprecedented rate.”

Talking about the new series Avneet Singh Marwah, CEO of SPPL, Exclusive Brand Licensee of Thomson TVs in India adds  “We are honored to be part of Android tv journey in India, we need to thank Google for all the support. We are proud to announce Thomson 65 inches Android tv, which will be India’s first 4K official Android that echoes the ‘Make in India’ initiative. It is a great feeling especially when you have seen the evolution of smart TVs; we had launched Thomson TV with open source 4.4 version and today we are launching an official Android with the latest Oreo version. Chinese company Vivo is soon going to launch its new mid-range smartphone Vivo X15. Vivo X15 will be part of the company’s X series smartphone that includes the likes of Vivo X27, Vivo X27 Pro, Vivo X21s, Vivo X23, Vivo X21 among others.

Vivo has not yet confirmed or denied the launch of this handset. However, some renders were published on the net which shows that Vivo X15 is equipped with a dual camera, a rear fingerprint reader and a will feature a USB Type-C charging port. Besides this, mini-jack input for the headphones is not coming up with the device, and the display will come with a notch at the top of the device. At the bottom a wide chin is present.

Further, as seen in the images, a dual camera setup (with a dual-tone LED flash) and a physical fingerprint scanner are present on the back panel. At the right side of the device, there is a power bottom and the volume rocker whereas the left side houses the SIM tray. No details on the specifications have been oozed at this time.

Vivo X15 still remains a secret for now. Hopefully, over the coming weeks, we will see an official announcement with the device detailed specifications, pricing as well as the availability.

Since last year, we have seen a number of good smartphones from the company including Vivo NEX, Vivo V15 Pro, and even the company’s holeless Apex phone.

A few days back Vivo’s Z series phone images were also leaked. The images showed that the smartphone sports a triple rear camera setup that is aligned vertically on the top left the corner of the back panel. The module has three cameras sensors and an LED flash. There is also a fingerprint sensor on the device in the center of the back panel. Furthermore, the blue-colored back panel sports a u-shaped gradient design on a glossy finish. A fingerprint sensor can also be seen on the Vivo Z series smartphone’s back panel. So the possibility of having an in-display fingerprint scanner has been ruled out. It can be presumed that the upcoming device will sport a pop-up selfie camera to offer a full-screen experience to its users. To recall, Vivo has launched a number of smartphones with pop-up selfie cameras including Vivo NEX, V15 Pro, and V15.

Sony India has launched two new Bluetooth speakers in India today. The new speakers are Extra Bass Portable Bluetooth speakers and are named SRS-XB22 and the SBS-XB32. The SRS-XB22 and SBS-XB32 Bluetooth speakers are high powered portable speakers and are compact in size. The new Sony Bluetooth speakers are also waterproof and shockproof so it can be taken and used anywhere with ease.

The Extra Bass Portable Bluetooth speaker Sony SRS-XB22 is priced at Rs 7,490 while the SBS- XB32 holds a price tag of Rs 10,990. The Sony SRS-XB32 comes in various colour options – Black, Blue and Red. On the other hand, the SRS-XB22 is available in Black, Blue, Red and Green colour options.

Both the newly launched speakers will go on sale from June 15, 2019 onwards and they can be purchased from Sony’s online store or other major e-commerce retail stores.

Both the Sony SRS-XB22 and the SBS-XB32 come with dual passive radiators which work together with Stereo full range speakers to enhances their vocal clarity. It also gives the speakers an audio boost. As mentioned above, both the Sony SRS-XB22 and the SBS-XB32 are waterproof, dustproof, rustproof and shockproof in nature. They also come with support for Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri.

The Sony SRS-XB32 comes with Bluetooth version 4.2 and has NFC support. It supports SBC, AAC and LDAC music and audio codecs and as the name suggests, it comes with Extra Bass Boost function. There is also a Live Sound function in the new Sony SRS-XB32 Bluetooth speaker. Since it is a party speaker, it can be connected with other speakers wirelessly and form a chain of up to 100 wireless party speaker chain. The new Sony Bluetooth speaker comes with S-Master Amplifier type and it has a frequency range of 2.4GHz/ 20Hz to 20,000Hz/ 20KHz. The SRS-XB32 Bluetooth speaker comes with multi-colour line light along with Strobe flash and it has a dimension of 238 x 84 x 83mm, it weighs approximately 900 g.

On the other hand, the Sony SRS-XB22 Bluetooth speaker comes with all the features of the XRS-XB22 but it has line light instead of the multi-colour line light and Strobe flash the SRS-XB32 has. The SRS-XB22 also can form a speaker chain of up to 100 speakers and comes with Extra Bass Boost function as well. Similar to the other speaker, it also comes with voice assistant support. The new Sony SRS-XB22 has a dimension of 201 x 72 x 68mm and it weighs 540g.
