According to the latest survey done by NortonLifeLock more than 4 in 5 Indian gamers have experienced a cyberattack. The survey has been conducted by The Harris Poll. In India, 75 percent of Indian gamers were impacted with the most common detection of malicious software and unauthorised access to an online gaming account on their devices. The 2021 Norton Cyber Safety report said that among 703 Indian adults who play online games, three-quarters of surveyed Indian gamers have experienced a cyberattack on their gaming account, with the most common detecting malicious software on a gaming device and identified unauthorised access to an online gaming account. More than four in five which is 81 percent of those who experienced a cyberattack, also reported financial consequences with an average loss of Rs 7,894. According to Nortan’s report, gamers are also willing to take risks with their own or others’ security in order to gain a competitive advantage. According to the findings, 2 in 5 Indian gamers would hack into the account of a friend, family member, or partner if they knew it would give them a competitive advantage. In India 56 percent of respondents say they are at least somewhat likely to exploit a loophole or bug in a game to gain a competitive advantage and roughly 2 in 5 or more would consider paying to take possession of another user’s gaming account, installing cheats on their gaming account or gaming device or hacking into a random player’s gaming account. Reportedly more than 6 in 10 gamers in India (62%) say they picked up gaming during the COVID-19 pandemic and many (60%) say the amount of time they spend gaming has increased since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also stated that more than 2 in 5 gamers have been duped into jeopardising their personal security either by downloading malware onto a gaming device or being duped into sharing account information online. It should be noted that one in every five gamers has been doxed. (i.e., had personal information stolen and posted/shared publicly online, without their consent). Nearly 3 in 4 Indian gamers (72%) say that they would never fall for a gaming scam, and more than half (53%) agree that they don’t give much thought, if any, to the security of their gaming devices.Ritesh Chopra, Director Sales and Field Marketing, India & SAARC Countries, NortonLifeLock said, “Our report reveals that online gaming is not all about fun and games. In the virtual field, we must take precautions to protect the information we share, to avoid becoming vulnerable to cyberattacks. With online gaming, come concerns including hidden fees and in-game currency, characters, or other items being lost or stolen, as our survey showed to be the case for over half of respondents (fees, 60%; in-game items, 58%). In these challenging times, it is crucial to stay updated and aware of the threats that can compromise your safety and privacy in this complex digital world.”

Cheating during online gaming is always unethical. Battlegrounds Mobile India has announced strict measures against illegal programs, cheats, cheaters and is still making efforts to keep the peace and has banned a large number of illegal accounts that engage in cheating and being a nuisance to others. According to Krafton, it has banned 25 lakh BGMI accounts over a 40 day period. The company’s move is intended to eliminate cheating and cheaters from Battlegrounds Mobile India. Krafton in its announcement said, “Staying true to its zero-tolerance policy towards cheaters, KRAFTON Inc., the South Korean video gaming giant, has removed 25 Lakh accounts in just over a month to eradicate cheating on Battlegrounds Mobile India”. It should be noted that since its last announcement between October 1 and November 10, Krafton has banned 25,19,692 accounts permanently and 7,06,319 accounts temporarily. To combat cheating, the South Korean developer has also listed out the steps taken to remove cheaters from Battlegrounds Mobile India who were using unfair means to beat out other players, therefore, undermining the overall experience.

More powerful cheat detection and banning mechanism, which allowed the system to follow cheaters in real-time and ban users who used unlawful methods.
Permabans, which replaced all interim bans with permanent bans, leaving no possibility for a second chance.
Manual verification and banning of accounts that use or promote illegal programs among high-rankers. The team is monitoring such accounts in real-time and banning them permanently if any illegal program is traced.
Real-time monitoring of YouTube for any channels that promote illegal programs and blocking the channels immediately and if any cases are found.
So if gamers are using cheat tools or any other unfair means in BGMI they will be banned at some point if not immediately. The developer also advises players not to give access to their accounts. Aside from the obvious ramifications of losing access to social media, it may be used to test cheating tools and their account will be banned. Krafton is also monitoring YouTube in real-time for any channels that promote illegal programs and if any are discovered, their channels will be blocked immediately as the company is working with YouTube.

Samsung Galaxy A32 is now available in a new 8GB RAM with 128GB storage option. The price of the new variant has been set at Rs 23,499. The new model will be available in three colour options of Awesome Black, Awesome Blue and Awesome Violet. The smartphone is now available for purchase across retail stores, Samsung.com and leading online portals. To recall, in March this year Samsung Galaxy A32 was first launched on 6GB RAM with a 128GB storage option. The phone comes with a price tag of Rs 21,999. The device is thought to be a rebranded version of Redmi Note 11 5G which was launched in India last month. We reported last month that Motorola is preparing to launch a new wearable called the Moto Watch 100 in collaboration with CE Brands. After the revelation of an investor report from CE Brand, the renders of the upcoming wearable have been leaked on the web. The device will feature a metallic finish with a circular display. The silicone strap will have a striped texture on it. Whereas on the features front it will have GPS support and will also bear heart rate sensors and more.According to leaked renders, Moto Watch 100 will come with a waterproof design. Both the audio tools can also be found on Tik Tok. The new feature is now accessible in the Reels camera. The company via community post said, “Attention Reels creators! We know that using sound and audio is one of the funniest aspects of creating a 🔥 Reel! So today we’re launching two new audio tools called Voice Effects and Text to Speech. Swipe through to learn more about how to use them to take your Reels to the next level.”Text-to-speech is a feature allowing Instagram creators to make use of an artificial or robotic voice to read the text instead of their own voice in the short video. On the other hand, Voice Effects can only be used to modify the audio as well as a voiceover in the Reels. The text-to-speech feature is accessible via the text tool in the Reels Camera After you have recorded or uploaded a video head to preview to add text. While adding text, a text bubble will appear at the end of the screen letting users specify when they want that text to appear. However, the menu for each text bubble can be opened by tapping a three-dot icon. This gives creators more options to add Text-to-speech voiceover which gives you two options.
Tap the text bubble to access the three-dot menu on the sticker, and select Text to Speech.

Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has revised the price of two of its popular budget devices in India. Redmi 9A and Redmi 9A Sport price has been increased by Rs 300. The former one was released in India last year whereas the latter one arrived in the market in September this year. To recall, a significant proportion of smartphone components saw a price increase due to current supply shortages. Therefore most of the companies, Xiaomi, Redmi, Vivo, Oppo, Samsung and others could not avoid but increase the price of some of their models. To recall most of the budget devices by Redmi saw a price hike after global chipset shortages and the most popular of them was the Redmi Note 10 series.
On the recent price revision Xiaomi’s spokesperson stated, “Due to massive demand-supply mismatch, the majority of components used in smartphones have seen an upward movement in their prices. Unfortunately, due to such market dynamics, a surge in price is inevitable and it is further leading to a price hike on some of our models. At Xiaomi India, we strongly believe in honest pricing and will continue to do our best to make the most value-for-money smartphones for all our Fans and consumers.”
After the fresh price hike, Redmi 9A and Redmi 9A Sport have become pricier by Rs 300. The Redmi 9A 2GB and 2GB RAM options were earlier retailing at Rs 6,999 and Rs 7,999 and now they will be available at Rs 7,299 and Rs 8,299 respectively. On the other hand, the 2GB and 3GB RAM options of the Redmi 9A Sports were earlier sold at Rs 6,999 and Rs 7,999.
