After the launch of Hindi interface last year, Flipkart has now enabled three new languages on its platform – Tamil, Telugu and Kannada as part of its vision to make online commerce more inclusive and accessible for Indian language users. With this, Flipkart aims to reduce the access barriers to e-commerce for native language speakers as industry reports have revealed that Indian language internet users are expected to account for nearly 75 percent of India’s internet user base by 2021.
According to Flipkart, The introduction of 3 vernacular interfaces is in line with Flipkart’s aim of developing state-of-the-art innovations to solve for the various pain points of consumers transitioning to e-commerce.
Asserting that Flipkart has introduced multiple solutions under Voice, Video and Vernacular to increase ecommerce adoption for millions of consumers, Kalyan Krishnamurthy, Chief Executive Officer of Flipkart Group, said, “We truly believe that language, if solved well, can be an opportunity rather than a barrier to reach millions of consumers who have been underserved. The introduction of Tamil, Telugu and Kannada interfaces, in addition to Hindi & English, is a meaningful step in that direction in line with our mission to democratize ecommerce in India.”
As Southern states account for a significant proportion of Flipkart’s growing user base coupled with a higher adoption rate of native language script, regional language interfaces will help make e-commerce more inclusive. The new language interfaces use a judicious mix of translated and transliteration of words to make shopping more engaging for consumers. This follows an ethnographic study that was conducted over several months to get relevant insights that helped the team develop a platform that enables consumers to interact with the platform in their own language and encourage independence in purchase decisions.
“Today, almost 58 percent of our user base comes from tier-II cities and beyond and with new language interfaces of Tamil, Telugu and Kannada along with Hindi (introduced last year) will further improve users’ ecommerce journeys by making it simpler and more personal,” said Jeyandran Venugopal, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Flipkart.

During Acer’s online global press conference, the tech company has announced significant new updates to four of its popular gaming notebooks: the Predator Helios 700, Predator Helios 300, Predator Triton 300 and Nitro 7. The notebook lines now include the latest 10th Gen Intel Core H-series processors for desktop-caliber performance that can be taken anywhere.
Acer added that these new refreshed models bring exciting updates across the board, giving gamers of all levels and types something to look forward to. For this, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER or RTX 2070 SUPER GPUs deliver the performance needed to drive fast displays with high refresh rates for blur-free seamless visuals in even the most demanding of AAA games. To keep the notebooks operating at peak performance and optimal temperatures, Acer has equipped the notebooks with enhanced thermal designs, new cooling technologies and additional heat pipes.

According to the company, while the first responders and industrial manufacturing workers will find the Acer Enduro N7 to be a reliable companion, the event producers and outdoor hobbyists will appreciate the thin-and-light yet durable Enduro N3. In what is being consider as an historic decision for the Mac, Apple during the WWDC20 has announced that it will transition the Mac to its world-class custom silicon from using Intel processors to deliver industry-leading performance and powerful new technologies. Developers can now get started updating their apps to take advantage of the advanced capabilities of Apple silicon in the Mac. This transition will also establish a common architecture across all Apple products, making it far easier for developers to write and optimize their apps for the entire ecosystem.
Apple also introduced macOS Big Sur which delivers its biggest update in more than a decade and includes technologies that will ensure a smooth and seamless transition to Apple silicon. This next major release of macOS can easily convert their existing apps to run on Apple silicon by taking advantage of its powerful technologies and performance. With this, developers can make their iOS and iPadOS apps available on the Mac without any modifications for the very first time.
In order to enable developers to get started with Apple silicon, the Cupertino-based tech giant is also launching the Universal App Quick Start Program, which provides access to documentation, forums support, beta versions of macOS Big Sur and Xcode 12, and the limited use of a Developer Transition Kit (DTK), a Mac development system based on Apple’s A12Z Bionic System on a Chip (SoC).
Apple plans to ship the first Mac with Apple silicon by the end of the year and complete the transition in about two years. Apple will continue to support and release new versions of macOS for Intel-based Macs for years to come, and has exciting new Intel-based Macs in development. The transition to Apple silicon represents the biggest leap ever for the Mac.

With an aim to help people navigate the origin, authenticity or context of an image of what’s going on in the world, Google has started fact check information in Google Images globally for a more informed judgments about what appears on the web. The tech giant has revealed that this builds on the fact check features in Search and News, which people come across billions of times per year.
“Now, when you search on Google Images, you may see a “Fact Check” label under the thumbnail image results. When you tap one of these results to view the image in a larger format, you’ll see a summary of the fact check that appears on the underlying web page. These labels may appear both for fact check articles about specific images and for fact check articles that include an image in the story,” said Harris Cohen, Group Product Manager, Google Search.
According to Google, fact check labels appear on results that come from independent, authoritative sources on the web that meet the criteria by the Google Search. These sources rely on ClaimReview, an open method used by publishers to indicate fact check content to search engines. The tech giant already highlight fact checks on Search and in Google News to make this content easy to discover. YouTube also leverages ClaimReview to surface fact check information panels in Brazil, India and the US. The full fact check library can be accessed through a dedicated search tool and an open API.
It was further added that just as is the case in Search, adding this label in Google Images results does not affect ranking. However, Google’s systems are designed to surface the most relevant, reliable information available, including from sources that provide fact checks.
To recognize the important work being done by fact-checkers during the ongoing pandemic, the Google News Initiative provided $6.5 million in funding support to organizations around the globe earlier this year, revealed a blog post.
Google further added that these efforts not only highlight the significant contributions of the fact check community, but they also ensure that people have access to critical context about the information—and now images—they encounter online.

iOS 14 is getting a slew of new features. The first among these to be announced at App Library, which automatically organizes the apps on the user’s iPhone on the basis of categories. To access this option, users would have to go to the last screen. In addition to this, users are also getting the ability to hide the app pages they don’t want. With App Library, users will also be able to search for apps using a newly added search bar that is meant to make the process quicker.
Moving on, let’s talk about the change in Widgets of the iPhone that you’ll be getting as soon as iOS 14 is releases. The new Widgets are more data rich, and users can pick from a variety of sizes. These widgets can also be added to the home screen of the iPhone.
Apple has also announced the Picture in Picture feature for iPhones at WWDC 2020. Going forward, if you are watching a video on your iPhone and then minimize the app, the video will still continue to play in a small window. This is a very important addition to the iPhone, and it previously existed only on iPad.
That’s not all that’s set to change, as the technology giant has also said that it is revamping Siri. With iOS 14, Siri will only appear at the bottom of the screen when accessed while using another app, and its results will only pop up at the top. iOS 14 will also be getting Guides to Apple Maps and for those who want to reduce their carbon footprint, there will be cycling directions. A major new update that’s coming to CarPlay is that now users will be able to use their iPhones as a car key. This feature will be going live with the launch of a new BMW model next month.
An addition has been added to App Store too, as users will now be able to run apps without installing then using App Clips. So, they won’t have to install apps they only wish to use temporarily.
iPadOS 14
Now, let’s talk about the changes that are coming to the iPads with the new iPadOS 14. The iPads will be getting a new feature called Sidebar that is meant to make better use of the screen space that is available to the user. It will also have various quick access options. In addition to this, the iPad will also be getting a new Siri button on the bottom right. Apple has also said that going forward, incoming calls will not take up the entire screen, and instead will only appear on the top of the device. The search option has also been enhanced on the latest iPadOS, using which the users will be able to search within apps.
The technology giant has also said that iPadOS 14 will come with handwriting support for Apple Pencil. The company has added a new feature called Scribble that will convert normal handwriting into text.
WatchOS 7
If you have an Apple Watch, you can now look forward to adding different widgets from one app to your watch face. The company has also taken covers off a new Chronograph watch face. With the latest OS, users will be able to share Watch Faces with their friends. The activity app of Apple Watch has been revamped and its new name is Fitness. Going forward, it will also enable users to track dance workouts. Another feature called Wind Down is being introduced for Apple Watch, and with that users will get help to go to bed at a particular time every day. Sleep tracking with machine learning will also be available on WatchOS 7.
macOS 11
The official name of macOS 11 is Big Sur. Apple has given it a revamped look with redesigned apps, buttons and a dedicated Control Centre for Wi-Fi, Dark Mode and other features. The company has also added new app icons for all the default apps on the device. The menu bar and the layout have a new look too. Mac users will also be getting new features on the Messages app including better Search, an updated photo picker and addition of Memojis. Even Apple Maps for Mac has been revamped, and the Guides feature will be available on it too. In addition to this, the app will also be getting a Look Around feature that will enable users to explore various cities.
Apple has also said that it has made changes to the Safari browser and that page loading is 50% faster when compared to its arch-rival Chrome. The company has also added a new privacy report button that can be used to know how the user is being tracked. Apple has said that Safari will also be tracking any breach in any of the passwords of the user. Some other useful features like customizable start pages and in-built translation has been added to the web-browser too. Apple has also announced that it is shifting all devices in its Mac range on its own A-series processors now.
tvOS 14
If you are an Apple TV user, you should know that from now on, you will be able to resume your games right from where you left them. With tvOS 14, Apple TV will also be getting support for Xbox Elite 2 and Xbox Adaptive controllers. Apple TV has also got support for Picture in Picture Windows for AirPlay sessions. So to get the better of the researchers has developed a process that decouples the fluid and structural solvers, which can bring down the computational cost for a single run by as much as 80 percent.The report says that “the analysis of additional structural configurations can also be performed without re-analyzing the fluid due to this decoupled approach, which in turn generates additional computational cost savings, leading to multiple orders of magnitude reductions in computational cost when considering this method within an optimization framework.”In due course, the U.S. Army will be able to design the model more quickly than through the use of current techniques. Philips is confident that when this technique is applied within an optimization framework and together with additive manufacturing, the future warfighter will be capable of using this tool to construct optimized custom air vehicles according to the mission’s requirements.

According to the listing, the extended warranty is valid 24 months after the comprehensive manufacturer warranty has expired – This extended warranty covers the TV product from the end of the manufacturer/brand warranty till the end of 3rd year from the TV purchase date.
The listing also includes what’s covered and what’s not covered in the extended warranty. This offer is only valid on the upcoming Televisions range by OnePlus and not the one that was launched last year.
The previous reports suggest that the upcoming 2020 range of TV models will be offered in two screen sizes of 32-inch and 42-inch. According to the Bluetooth SIG website both the devices were spotted with model number 32HA0A00 and 43FA0A00 respectively. The 32-inch model is suggested to arrive with HD resolution whereas the 43-inch model with a full-HD resolution with 1,920×1,080 pixels of resolution and will be supported by Bluetooth v5.0. The pricing of both the variants is said to start at Rs 20,000 onwards.
Until now not many details have been shared by the company but CEO Pete Lau shared in a tweet that the OnePlus TV models will be featuring innovative Gamma Engine along with 93 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut support. This means the 2020 models of OnePlus TV will be offering high-quality picture quality with high colour accuracy.
